Li Haotian kicked open the severely deformed hatch.

The yacht's engine made its final, muffled thud as it sank to the bottom of the sea.

The entire ship lay completely paralyzed on the dark sea, spinning in the aftershocks.

Lin Mo slid off the seat and rubbed the tip of his nose.

"Haotian, the air conditioner is really broken."

She pointed to the air vent that was still emitting black smoke.

Li Haotian wiped the sweat from his face; his palms were sticky and smelled of gunpowder.

He looked down at his palm, his brows furrowing into a knot.

"Mo Mo, just sit still."

He turned around and climbed into the storage compartment behind the driver's cab.

There were several flattened silver suitcases piled up here, along with half a case of expired canned goods.

Li Haotian reached out and pried open the two broken pieces of wood.

He dug out a long, slender, dark purple bottle from a corner of the cabinet.

The English label on the bottle was peeled off by the seawater, leaving only the gold lettering "1982".

Li Haotian bit open the cork with his teeth, and a rich aroma of wine wafted out.

Instead of drinking it, he spread his fingers and splashed the liquor into his palm.

The red liquor washed away the burnt black and purple slime from his palms.

Li Haotian rubbed his fingers together, letting the expensive wine drip onto his leather shoes.

"Tsk, this smells really strong."

He sniffed his fingertips and casually tossed the remaining half-bottle of wine out the window.

The bottle traced an arc in the air before falling into the sea with a plop, barely creating a large wave.

Lin Mo leaned closer and took a deep sniff.

"It's bitter, not sweet at all."

After making her comments, she sat back down in the passenger seat, which hadn't collapsed yet.

Li Haotian picked up the cracked communicator.

He pressed the green button on it, and a hissing sound came from the electrical circuit.

"Old Chen, Old Chen, are you still alive?"

Li Haotian shouted at the top of his lungs and patted the screen at the same time.

Dozens of kilometers away, on the deck of the Dragon Shield flagship.

Chen Dong held the binoculars in his hand, his body trembling as if he were having a seizure.

He stared at the enormous mushroom cloud that hadn't yet dispersed on the distant horizon.

"Chief, the satellite signal has been restored."

The adjutant stumbled over, carrying a tablet computer.

Chen Dong didn't take the tablet; his eyes were fixed on a white boat on the sea.

"Where's Abyss Island? Where's the laboratory that was just standing there?"

The adjutant swallowed hard and pointed to the zero-level reading on the screen.

"It's gone, Chief, it all sank."

"That bastard Li Haotian has really ruined the reputation of Donghai City."

Chen Dong gripped the railing, his knuckles turning blue from clenching his fists.

Suddenly, Li Haotian's signature nonchalant voice came through the communicator.

"Old Chen, can you hear me? I'm done for the day."

Chen Dong took a deep breath, grabbed the walkie-talkie, and practically shouted it out.

"Li Haotian! Do you even know how much that island is worth?"

"That's the pioneers' core base; how much research data is inside?"

"You actually blew it up! How am I supposed to write a report for my superiors now?"

Li Haotian chuckled on the other end, his voice slightly distorted by the electrical interference.

"It's already been bombed, you can still write an obituary now."

"Besides, do you dare keep those monsters alive?"

"Stop giving me this nonsense, just get me a boat with air conditioning."

Li Haotian paused, his tone becoming somewhat serious.

"My boat is out of fuel and anchored in the middle of the high seas."

"By the way, could you ask Zhao Wuji for me if he'll reimburse the gas money for this trip?"

Chen Dong was so angry that his throat felt tight, and he almost couldn't catch his breath.

"Fuel costs? You demolished someone's island worth billions, and you're talking to me about fuel costs?"

Li Haotian sat cross-legged on the deck, watching the approaching fleet of warships.

"That's not how it works. I'm doing this voluntarily; shouldn't I get some compensation?"

"Besides, this boat is the boss's private property. What I'm doing is confiscating illegal tools."

Chen Dong closed his eyes and waved to his adjutant behind him.

"Set sail and go pick them up."

"Bring the medical team and the mess hall along."

Huge white waves spewed from the bottom of the warships as they approached at full speed in battle formation.

At this moment, more than a dozen helicopters bearing the Zhao family logo also appeared in the sky.

They hovered above the sunken island, their headlights casting a blinding glow over Li Haotian's yacht.

"Attention, vessels below, you have entered restricted waters!"

The loudspeaker on the helicopter blared deafeningly, carrying an air of unyielding arrogance.

Li Haotian looked up at the rapidly spinning propellers.

He picked up a loose alloy screw from the deck and twirled it on his thumb.

"The Zhao family are like flies; they come flying over as soon as they smell something."

Su Wan's voice came through the earpiece.

"Brother Dazhu, Zhao Wuji himself is on one of the helicopters."

"He just sent an official letter to the General Administration, saying that he wants to receive the fugitive in international waters."

Li Haotian sneered and tucked the screw between his fingers.

"A fugitive? Is he talking about me, or this girl?"

He pointed to Lin Mo, who was making a face at the sky.

Su Wan typed at an astonishing speed on the keyboard.

"He wants them all; the Zhao family has their eyes on the 'mother's' awakening ability."

"And those remaining experimental subjects you have, they all want them."

Li Haotian stood up and brushed the dust off his pants.

Facing the bright beams of the helicopter, he raised his right hand and extended his middle finger.

"Get him out of here. I'm not in the mood for business warfare today."

The helicopter seemed to be enraged by this action; the hatch slid open, revealing the dark muzzle of a machine gun.

At that moment, Chen Dong's flagship suddenly cut in between the two sides.

The massive ship, like a steel Great Wall, completely blocked the Zhao family's view.

"Master Zhao, Dragon Shield is on official business. Please return."

Chen Dong stood on the bridge and spoke through a loudspeaker.

The helicopter circled in the air a few times, seemingly hesitating whether to engage in a direct confrontation.

A minute later, the red warning lights finally faded into the distance.

As the warship approached, Li Haotian reached out and caught the cable that had been thrown down.

He gripped the rope, wrapped one arm around Lin Mo, and lightly touched the side of the yacht with his toes.

The two of them soared through the air like large birds and landed steadily on the deck of the warship.

Chen Dong led a group of guards and walked over quickly.

He first sized up Lin Mo, and seeing that the girl was in good spirits, he then looked at Li Haotian.

"Hey kid, you're really not hurt?"

Li Haotian pointed to a few dried purple flakes hanging on his hair.

"Wouldn't you say that? The emotional distress is quite severe."

He walked past Chen Dong, sniffed, and glanced into the cabin.

"Where's the braised pork? I came here because I smelled it."

Chen Dong gave a wry smile and patted his adjutant on the shoulder.

"Take them to a restaurant, call up the best chef, and start cooking immediately."

Upon hearing the word "meat," the purple light in Lin Mo's eyes, which had almost died out, flickered again.

She tugged at Li Haotian's sleeve and whispered, "Do you have any orange juice?"

Chen Dong nodded quickly: "Yes, plenty."

Li Haotian took two steps forward, then suddenly stopped and turned to stare at Chen Dong.

"Old Chen, don't forget to credit the gas expense I mentioned earlier."

Chen Dong rubbed his temples, his face full of helplessness.

"Okay, okay, I'll give you special permission and go through the emergency procurement process."

Only then did Li Haotian lead Lin Mo inside with satisfaction.

As he passed by Chen Dong, he lowered his voice and said something.

"Have someone keep an eye on the oil drilling platform."

Chen Dong paused for a moment, then asked, "Which platform?"

Li Haotian didn't answer, but simply pointed southeast.

"Before the boss died, he sent a signal to the Arctic, and the Zhao family is keeping an eye on that place."

"I suspect that's their real backup plan."

Chen Dong's face instantly darkened, and his brows furrowed.

He beckoned to his adjutant and strode back to the operations room.

As Li Haotian pushed open the restaurant door, a rich aroma of soy sauce wafted out.

He found a seat by the window and casually opened a pack of wet wipes on the table.

He carefully wiped every engraving on the bronze dagger.

"Haotian, there's a big eye watching us from the sea over there."

Lin Mo pressed his face against the porthole window, leaving two small handprints on the glass.

Li Haotian stopped what he was doing and squinted at the undulating waves outside the window.

In the deep sea, a faint golden light flashed and disappeared.

That thing was incredibly fast, like a bolt of lightning from the deep sea.

Li Haotian gripped the dagger tightly and let out a cold laugh.

"Let it watch. If it dares to come up and steal the meat, I'll stew it all in one pot."

The chef came over carrying a huge stainless steel basin.

A large bowl of bright red meat chunks trembled slightly, and its aroma filled everyone's nostrils.

Lin Mo picked up the chopsticks, her movements so practiced it was almost heartbreaking.

Seeing her eating with her mouth glistening with oil, Li Haotian felt his irritation subside slightly.

But he knew that although the island had sunk, the sea had not yet calmed down.

That indicator light from the Arctic is probably burning red by now.

He chewed on a piece of meat and casually pressed the button on his headset.

"Su Wan, help me check if there are any businesses owned by someone with the surname Zhao in the Arctic Circle."

The only sound in the headset was the static of the ocean waves; Su Wan seemed to be busy processing some massive amount of data.

Li Haotian looked out at the pitch-black night and stuffed the last piece of meat into his mouth.

This boat is definitely much more comfortable than that yacht; at least the air conditioning is really cool.

Just as he was about to close his eyes and rest for a while.

The warship's alarm suddenly blared without warning.

Chen Dong's panicked voice echoed over the loudspeaker.

"All units to battle positions! An unidentified energy-level creature is approaching at high speed from beneath the sea surface!"

Li Haotian suddenly opened his eyes, twirling the dagger between his fingers.

"This meal was definitely not going to be easy to finish."
