The Golden-Eyed Life of a Security Guard

Chapter 66 A Pretense Becomes Real

After spending two days in her hometown, Shen Ling realized that Gu Yuebai's heart wasn't at home at all; it had already flown to Yuncheng.

Shen Ling had no choice but to let him leave early.

When Gu Yuebai drove back to Yuncheng and got off the highway, he drove through the city streets and found that he had nowhere to stay.

With no other choice, he drove to the People's Hospital. It just so happened that it was the weekend, and it was his turn to see patients at the hospital.

When Gu Yuebai entered the hospital, the nurses and doctors there still treated him with respect, politely calling him "Dr. Gu".

As Gu Yuebai's reputation grew, more and more people came to him for consultations.

There were six people who registered this morning, including Zhang Yuanchao from last time, who came for his second acupuncture session.

Gu Yuebai was very clear about their symptoms, and a few acupuncture needles could quickly relieve them.

Around 10:30, there was no one left outside his consultation room.

He was bored and playing on his phone in the consultation room.

His phone rang; it was his signature ringtone.

"Gu Yuebai, did you miss me?"

"You big idiot! You drove my girlfriend away! Tell me, how are you going to compensate me?"

Gu Yuebai asked irritably.

"Hehe, serves you right, you fickle, womanizing radish."

Di Liuyue sounded somewhat excited on the phone.

"You're still laughing."

"I'm waiting for you at Nanyuan Coffee Shop. Come over and have a coffee with me."

Gu Yuebai was talking to Di Liuyue when Zhang Jing arrived.

He has recently devoted himself to the acupuncture manual that Gu Yuebai taught him, and the results are obvious. He has already cured several patients with acupuncture.

However, he was still a little confused about some details. When he heard that Gu Yuebai had come to see patients, he hurriedly put down his work and came over to ask for advice.

Gu Yuebai naturally answered all his questions without reservation.

It was past eleven o'clock when Di Liuyue called again to urge him, "Gu Yuebai, if you don't come soon, you won't have a wife."

Zhang Jing heard the voice on the phone and had no choice but to let Gu Yuebai go.

Gu Yuebai took off his white coat, and as he was leaving, he asked Zhang Jing, "Dean?"

"Master?"

"Did you tell Di Liuyue about my trip back to my hometown?"

She said she was also my teacher's wife.

"Oh my god..."

Gu Yuebai was speechless for a moment.

Zhang Jing left, and as Gu Yuebai was closing the door to her consultation room, Lin Wei also came out of her consultation room and met Gu Yuebai.

Today, she is wearing a custom-made lead-gray white lab coat; her clothes are always spotless.

Inside, she wore a white silk shirt, the collar slightly open, revealing glimpses of her fair collarbone and a hint of cleavage.

Dark gray trousers made her legs appear even straighter. Her low ponytail hung down her neck, and wisps of hair at her temples obscured the pale blue under her eyes. Her face, devoid of makeup, showed signs of weariness. A silver watch ticked on her wrist, and she walked slowly in flat loafers. The smell of disinfectant was mixed with a very faint scent of gardenia.

It had been some time since she last saw Lin Wei, and she looked somewhat haggard.

When she saw Gu Yuebai, her eyes lit up slightly, and she smoothed her disheveled hair.

"Dr. Gu, you've arrived."

"Dr. Lin." Gu Yuebai frowned slightly. His eyes flashed and he noticed her stagnant liver qi and absent-mindedness. He couldn't help but feel a little sorry for her and reminded her, "Dr. Lin, have you been troubled by something lately? You don't seem to be in good spirits, and your health doesn't seem to be quite right either."

Lin Wei turned her face away, unwilling to expose her vulnerable side to Gu Yuebai. She forced a smile and said, "It's nothing, just a small matter. I haven't been sleeping well these past few days. Is Dr. Gu about to leave work?"

"Yes, that's right."

There was a moment of silence between them. Gu Yuebai said awkwardly, "Well, Dr. Lin, I have something to attend to, so I'll be leaving now."

"I..." Lin Wei saw that he had already turned around and taken two steps. She wanted to say something, but then stopped abruptly.

"What's wrong, Dr. Lin?"

Gu Yuebai turned around from a short distance away and asked.

Lin Wei sighed inwardly, smiled slightly, and shook her head.

Gu Yuebai waved and left.

He drove his Audi Q7 to Nanyuan Cafe in Jinnan District. Stepping into the cafe, he found it quiet with soothing music playing in the air, calming his mind.

When they arrived at the location, they only saw Di Liuyue's leather jacket, but not her figure.

He looked around but couldn't see Di Liuyue.

Suddenly, a figure darted out from behind him, jumped onto Gu Yuebai's back, wrapped its legs around his waist, and its arms around Gu Yuebai's neck, breathing softly in his ear.

"Did you miss me?"

Gu Yuebai grabbed Di Liuyue's legs and said, "Still the same as before, you crazy girl."

"Mind your own business." Di Liuyue got off Gu Yuebai, sat on the bench in the booth, and stirred her coffee.

After Gu Yuebai sat down, she asked curiously, "What's wrong, Chief Gu? Is there trouble at home?"

"Waiter, give me the same coffee as hers."

The waiter made an OK sign.

Gu Yuebai gazed out the window and said calmly, "As expected. I knew that bringing her back would expose us. Your call only hastened the outbreak of the conflict."

He leaned closer to Di Liuyue, his expression hardening. "You ruined my plans, what do you have to say for yourself?"

Di Liuyue chuckled and countered Gu Yuebai's question, "Back when we parted, your mother gave me a bracelet, and you didn't refuse it. Were you even slightly attracted to me?"

"Uh..." This question actually stumped Gu Yuebai.

He pondered for a while before looking at Di Liuyue seriously. "To be honest, Liuyue, the feeling you give me is different from the feeling Song Lan gives me. I feel very relaxed when I'm with you, without having to worry about anything. I can do whatever I want. That's what I really enjoy, you know?"

Are you trying to say I'm heartless?

"Not that kind of feeling, but purely." He recalled the feeling of being together, "I have to admit, I had a slight attraction to you..."

Di Liuyue smiled faintly, then moved to sit next to Gu Yuebai and leaned closer, saying, "You have two choices now. First, go back to the Song Family Medical Clinic and do everything you can to win Song Lan back. I think, given how deeply she loves you, you'll easily gain her forgiveness. Always keep a place for me in your heart."

As Gu Yuebai and Song Lan spent more and more time together, Gu Yuebai's understanding of Song Lan deepened. He gradually realized that even though Song Lan was against marriage, she still wanted to love the person she loved to the fullest.

Gu Yuebai, however, believed that he might not be able to do it.

Her strong possessiveness, coupled with the possibility of other suitors appearing around Gu Yuebai at any time, would keep Song Lan on guard at all times.

If this continues, Gu Yuebai will be suffocated by her love.

"And the second one?"

Di Liuyue smiled slyly: "Secondly, why don't you take this charade for real?"

"Is it real or fake?"
