Chapter 76 The Underworld Army Assembles to Slay the Ghost King

"No wonder the system issued this urgent mission. We must take down this ghost city while the Thousand-Eyed Demon is away! Otherwise, it will be much more troublesome if we wait until it gains power!"

Zhong Jiu's mind raced. He had already planned to make a move, but after reading the jade slip, he became even more determined to act immediately.

Fu Zhu recounted his discovery of the City of Annihilation, his tone tinged with helplessness: "This humble monk has always been self-reliant, never troubling others with anything he can handle himself. But this City of Annihilation is far too sinister; I cannot conquer it on my own. I have no choice but to beg the City God for help in eliminating this scourge from the human world!"

At this point, he knelt down with a thud and performed a deep bow, his voice resounding: "As long as the City God is willing to take action, this humble monk is willing to charge ahead, to serve as your humble servant, and to be loyal to you even in the face of danger!"

After a moment of silence, Zhong Jiu's voice boomed like a bell, shattering the void: "I am Zhong Jiu, the City God of Guiling City. According to the laws of the underworld, I am not allowed to leave my jurisdiction without the decree of my superior..."

"hiss!"

Fu Zhu's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that even the City God was unwilling to take action?

Should we do this?

Before he could even utter a sigh, Zhong Jiu abruptly changed the subject, his tone suddenly sharp: "But! That Thousand-Eyed Demon is courting death, daring to send a large army to invade my Guiling border and harm my people in the mortal realm. This enmity is irreconcilable! Today, I will make an exception and muster the entire army of the Underworld to march with you on the City of Annihilation!"

Fu Zhu, overjoyed, exclaimed, "Thank you, City God, for your righteous intervention!"

"At noon tonight, you will accompany the army to the reviewing stand outside the city."

Zhong Jiu's voice was ethereal, yet carried an undeniable authority.

Fu Zhu felt a jolt of fear and looked up abruptly, only to find that he was no longer in the Underworld Palace, but standing in front of the incense table at the Guiling City God Temple, with three sticks of incense just inserted into the incense burner, the embers still flickering slightly.

This...this...could it all be just a dream?

"Hey! What's that monk dawdling about for?"

An impatient worshipper behind him kicked his heel. "Everyone's waiting to offer incense and pray for blessings, hurry up!"

"That's right, that's right, hurry up, who's going to be responsible if we're late for the auspicious time?"

Fu Zhu's lips twitched, but his heart was filled with shock. The power of the gods was indeed unfathomable!

Unbeknownst to them, they dragged him into the underworld for a meeting, and then brought him back without anyone noticing. The incense in his hand had only burned less than half an inch, not even the time it takes for an incense stick to burn!

This incredible power to turn the world upside down is simply defying the heavens!

He kowtowed three times respectfully to the statue of the City God, then turned and squeezed out of the crowd, his excitement still lingering for a long time.

"So there really is a netherworld, and gods really do manifest!"

He muttered to himself as he found the nearest hotel and checked in, his mind filled with images of the army setting off that night.

How many troops does the City God of Guiling actually command?

When the underworld sends out its troops, is it like the heavenly soldiers and generals in a play?

Could those Soul Soldiers and Xuanjia Army defeat the million-strong army of the Thousand-Eyed Demon?

The more he thought about it, the more excited he became. Fu Zhu couldn't sit still at all. As soon as night fell, he grabbed his monk's knife and ran wildly out of the city.

Before he even reached the command platform, a terrifying aura swept over him, stinging his cheeks. Faintly, the clanging of clashing swords and the roars of the soul soldiers echoed like thunder in the night sky.

"Here it comes!"

Fu Zhu's eyes lit up, and he quickened his pace. In the distance, he could see a vast army of soldiers on the open ground outside the city, with banners waving and a murderous aura soaring into the sky!

The seven hundred Xuanjia soldiers were clad in black and gold armor, their Netherworld warhorses exhaling wisps of Yin energy, and their spears gleaming coldly. At a glance, it was clear that they were the elite of the elite.

Three hundred soul messengers, dressed in black robes, holding chains and soul-catching tokens, were expressionless, and surrounded by a faint aura of death.

There were also 10,000 soul soldiers. Although their equipment was not as good as that of the Xuanjia Army, each of them had fierce eyes and was surrounded by a murderous aura. When they carried the banner of "Guiling Yinsi" and shouted in unison, the sound waves could shake the clouds!

Not to mention the leaders at the front of the group: the head of the Yin-Yang Division held a gilded horsewhip and his eyes were like lightning; the head of the Disciplinary Hall had a ghost-slaying sword hanging at his waist and his face was cold and stern; the head of the Gale Hall wore wind-chasing boots and his figure was as fast as the wind. Each of them was a ruthless character with a powerful aura.

Zhong Jiu, dressed in the robes of a City God, sat upright on a Netherworld warhorse, his face dignified, surrounded by golden light.

Most importantly, he had twelve small black and red flags hanging from his waist, which looked very impressive!

Actually, this is a set of magical artifacts that Zhong Jiu just exchanged with incense points, called the Burning Heaven Blazing Flame Banner.

"Greetings, City God!"

Fu Zhu, his blood boiling with fervor, rushed forward, knelt on one knee to pay his respects, and spoke in a voice loud enough to drown out the shouts around him.

Zhong Jiu nodded slightly, his voice calm yet penetrating: "Master, there's no need for such formalities. Here's a warhorse for you; please lead the way."

"Yes, sir!"

Fu Zhu abruptly stood up, mounted his horse, drew his monk's knife, and pointed it into the darkness. "Rest assured, City God, this humble monk knows the way well and will surely storm the lair of the City of Annihilation!"

"Set off!"

At Zhong Jiu's command, the Netherworld Warhorses neighed, the Xuanjia Army led the way, and the Soul Soldiers followed closely behind. The battle cries shook the heavens and the earth as they marched mightily toward the dangerous area.

That night, most of the citizens of Guiling City were awakened from their dreams, vaguely hearing the roar of thousands of troops and the wailing of ghosts and wolves.

But when you strain your ears to listen carefully, you can't hear anything. You just think it's a nightmare, turn over and fall back into a deep sleep.

Ordinary people can't see the army of the underworld; they can only vaguely sense its earth-shattering malevolent aura.

The army of the underworld moved with astonishing speed, traversing mountains and rivers as if on flat ground. In just two hours, they had penetrated deep into the no-man's land after the supernatural resurgence.

This place is eerily quiet, with withered vegetation and a thick stench of blood and death permeating the air—a dangerous area inhabited by ghosts.

Fu Zhu followed the group, his heart filled with increasing excitement: "Looking across the world, this is probably the first time anyone has dared to take the initiative to attack the Ghost King! Those so-called cultivators all hide faster than rabbits. Only the City God has the courage to lead the army of the Underworld straight to the heart of the enemy!"

Just then, the head of the Yin-Yang Division suddenly reined in his horse, pointed his whip at the canyon ahead, and frowned slightly: "Where is that ahead? The Yin energy is so heavy."

"Reporting to the Master, that is the Valley of Tears!"

Fu Zhu stepped forward, his tone solemn, "This Tearful Valley is the first line of defense for the City of Silent Annihilation. Most of the ghost generals who previously invaded my Guiling Mountain camped here! Behind the valley lies the Tearful Spring River, and by its banks stands an ancient locust tree that blocks out the sky. It is constantly watered with the blood of living people, making it extremely ferocious and a tough nut to crack! Beyond the Tearful Spring River lies the lair of the Thousand-Eyed Demon, the City of Silent Annihilation!"

He had risked his life to scout out the enemy's situation once before, so he knew the terrain like the back of his hand. He spoke clearly and in great detail.

The head of the Yin-Yang Division nodded, then turned to Zhong Jiu: "Master, the enemy's forces are overwhelming. What tactics should our army employ?"

Zhong Jiu looked up and saw that the Yin energy in the direction of Lei Kong Valley was rolling and almost solidified, even more concentrated than the Yin energy in the underworld.

Clearly, these ghosts have been operating in the mortal realm for many years and have become quite powerful, practically turning this place into a kingdom of ghosts.

"Tactics?"

Zhong Jiu's lips curled into a cold smile, his eyes flashing with murderous intent. "No need for any rules! The Xuanjia Army leads the way, followed by the commanders of each division. Charge straight ahead! Anyone who dares to obstruct us will be killed without mercy!"

"promise!"

The generals all answered the order in unison, their voices so powerful that the ground trembled slightly.

Without needing scouts to explore, the Yin Si army formed a charge formation, with the Xuanjia Army like sharp knives and the Soul Soldiers following closely behind, and charged towards the Tear Valley.

Zhong Jiu wanted a quick victory, to take advantage of the fact that the Thousand-Eyed Demon was away from its lair and wipe out the City of Annihilation in one fell swoop, without giving the enemy a chance to breathe!

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

The battle cries shook the heavens and the earth as the Yin army surged towards Tears Valley like a black torrent.

Fu Zhu, his blood boiling with excitement, ripped open his monk's robe, revealing his dark chest. He brandished his dagger with ferocious force, roaring, "Exhilarating! So exhilarating! This is the battlefield a man should be on! Only when the world is turned upside down can it be truly satisfying!"

He was a fearless and ruthless individual, and as he charged into battle alongside the Yin army, he felt his blood boiling. All the frustration and repression he had felt before were now transformed into the motivation to kill the enemy.

The Tears Valley is situated in a treacherous location, with towering mountains on both sides and only a narrow pass in the middle. From a distance, it looks like a hideous ghost eye lying across the land.

Deep within the canyon, the camps of the ghostly army stretched endlessly, exuding a chilling aura.
