The thick fog seemed to come alive, flowing silently among the graves and withered trees in the mass grave, sticky, cold, and carrying the scent of earth and decay.

Lin Feng, accompanied by three soldiers from the prefecture, followed the traces of blood and messy footprints left by Han Lu and plunged into the dense fog where visibility was extremely low.

The shouts and sounds of fighting from Yang Dingbian behind them were quickly swallowed by the thick fog, becoming distant and indistinct. All that remained was the howling wind, their own heavy breathing, and their deliberately light footsteps. The fog not only obscured their vision but also interfered with their hearing, even blurring their sense of direction.

"Master Lin, the bloodstains are heading that way!" A sharp-eyed soldier lowered his voice and pointed to a crooked tombstone to the left. At the base of the tombstone, a few dark red bloodstains were faintly visible in the mist.

Lin Feng nodded and made a hand gesture, indicating that he should be on guard.

Han Lu is a cunning and ruthless man, as evidenced by the trap he just set. Although he is now wounded and fleeing, there is no guarantee that he won't resort to desperate measures or set up another ambush ahead.

The four men formed a diamond-shaped defensive formation, with Lin Feng at the head, two state soldiers flanking him on either side, and one bringing up the rear, slowly searching forward. The ground beneath their feet was slippery mud, littered with withered branches, fallen leaves, and unidentified bones; the slightest misstep would cause a sound. In the mist, the shadowy mounds of graves and tattered funeral banners seemed poised to transform into menacing ghosts at any moment.

After chasing for about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the bloodstains and footprints disappeared in front of a collapsed archway covered with withered vines.

The archway is half-buried in the soil and weeds, its stone mottled, and the inscriptions on it are long since blurred.

Behind the archway is a narrow path that extends downwards, almost completely covered by weeds and vines, disappearing into the thicker fog, its destination unknown.

"The bloodstains stop here." A soldier crouched down, carefully examined the ground, and then parted the weeds beside the archway's base. Suddenly, he exclaimed, "There's blood here! It dripped inside!"

Lin Feng walked over and, sure enough, saw a few drops of blood, not yet fully congealed, clinging to the leaves of the weeds inside the archway. Han Lu entered the path.

The path was narrow, allowing only one person to pass at a time, with steep earthen slopes and dense, thorny bushes on both sides. The fog seemed even thicker here, almost solidified, and if you stretched out your hand, you could only see a blurry outline.

"Master Lin, shall we go in or not?" the rear guard asked hesitantly. This path looked like a dead end, or... the entrance to a carefully laid trap.

Lin Feng's sharp gaze swept over the archway and the entrance to the small road.

Han Lu's choice to flee here was by no means arbitrary. Knowing that he was being pursued, he still ran towards this seemingly dead end. Either he was desperate and didn't know where to go, or... he had a pre-planned escape route here, or it was an even bigger trap.

"He's injured, bleeding profusely, he can't run far, and he won't last long," Lin Feng said in a deep voice, quickly weighing the options in his mind. Pursuing him might lead to an ambush; not pursuing him might cause this crucial lead to be lost again. Han Lu carries the secrets of Black Wind Valley, clues to military equipment, and even a list of traitors within the Northern Territory! He absolutely cannot be allowed to escape again!

"You two, guard the entrance and stay alert. If anything unusual happens, immediately send a signal to warn us," Lin Feng ordered the two soldiers.

"You, come in with me. Watch your step, and watch your sides and head."

"Yes!" the soldier who was called responded, tightening his grip on his sword. The other two quickly took up advantageous positions on either side of the archway, vigilantly watching the way they came and their surroundings.

Lin Feng took a deep breath and stepped first into the path swallowed by thick fog and overgrown weeds. The state soldiers followed closely behind.

As soon as we entered the path, the light became even dimmer, and the fog was so thick it seemed impossible to disperse. The ground was slippery and muddy, covered with moss, and the air was filled with an even stronger, indescribable smell of decay and dampness, which seemed to be mixed with a faint... bloody odor.

Lin Feng focused intently, maximizing his sensory experience.

The path wound downwards, seemingly leading to a lower, more submerged area. After walking about several dozen steps, the view suddenly opened up, and the fog seemed to thin out. Before them appeared a small, relatively flat clearing. In the center of the clearing stood a tomb, half-collapsed, constructed of bluestone. The tombstone was fallen, and the entrance to the burial chamber was wide open, dark and gaping, like a gaping maw ready to devour its prey.

The bloodstains extended to the entrance of the tomb chamber.

"He's gone in," the state soldier whispered, his voice slightly strained. Anyone in this kind of place, facing a dark, tomb-like opening, would feel a chill run down their spine.

Lin Feng stopped at the cave entrance and listened intently. The cave was silent except for a chilling draft rising slowly from its depths, carrying an even stronger earthy and musty smell. He bent down, picked up a stone, and threw it into the cave.

"Thump...thump...thump..." The stone bounced a few times inside the cave, the sound was dull, indicating that the cave was not shallow and had a turning point.

"Han Lu! I know you're in there!" Lin Feng shouted at the cave entrance. "Come out, you can't escape! The outside is completely surrounded. This tomb is your final resting place! If you confess honestly, perhaps you can at least have a whole corpse!"

The cave remained deathly silent, with only his echo reverberating in the hollow.

"Not coming out?" Lin Feng sneered. "Then don't blame me for being impolite! Set off a smoke screen!"

He was bluffing. But there was still no response from inside the cave.

Lin Feng gave the state soldier a wink, signaling him to stand guard at the cave entrance. He then took a deep breath and crouched down to crawl into the tomb. The cave was more spacious than he had imagined, barely enough for a person to bend over and move forward. Underfoot was gravel and mud, and the cave walls were damp and covered with slippery moss. The stench of decay in the air was stronger, mixed with a faint, strange medicinal smell.

He lit a small tinderbox he carried with him in his left hand; the faint light could only illuminate a few feet in front of him.

After walking about three or four zhang (approximately 10-12 meters), the tomb passage began to turn right. Around the bend, a small burial chamber appeared. In the center of the chamber lay a decayed coffin, its lid long since open, empty except for some tattered burial goods and skeletons. In a corner of the chamber, a figure leaned against the cold stone wall, slumped on the ground—it was Han Lu!

Blood was still seeping from the wound on his shoulder, staining half of his shirt a dark red. The gruesome burn scars on his face looked even more terrifying in the flickering firelight. His eyes were closed, his chest rose and fell slightly, and his breathing was weak, as if he had fainted or was too badly injured to escape.

Lin Feng didn't immediately step forward, but instead cautiously scanned the entire tomb chamber. The chamber wasn't large; its entirety could be seen at a glance. Besides the broken coffin and Han Lu, there was nothing else. The walls were solid rock and earth, with no other exits. Could it be that Han Lu had truly run out of options and exhausted himself trying to escape here?

He slowly approached, holding his steel knife horizontally in front of him, stopping five steps away from Han Lu. This distance was sufficient to handle any unexpected situation.

"Han Lu!" Lin Feng shouted again.

Han Lu did not react, remaining slumped there, with only the slight rise and fall of his chest proving that he was still alive.

Lin Feng frowned, picked up a piece of bone from the ground beside him with the tip of his knife, and threw it at Han Lu. The bone hit Han Lu, but he remained motionless.

Had he really fainted? Lin Feng's mind was filled with doubt. Han Lu was cunning; could this be another act?

He cautiously took two more steps closer, the light from the torch clearly illuminating every scar on Han Lu's face and the ashen complexion caused by excessive blood loss. Han Lu's breathing was weak and slow, seemingly genuine.

Just as Lin Feng was about to get closer and take a closer look, a sudden change occurred!

Han Lu, who had been "unconscious," suddenly opened his eyes! His eyes held no trace of drowsiness, only resentment, madness, and a cunning glint of triumph! His right hand, hidden behind his back, lashed out, not to attack Lin Feng, but to hurl a handful of unknown, pungent powder at Lin Feng's face! Simultaneously, his left hand pressed forcefully against an inconspicuous protrusion on the wall beside him!

"Click!" A soft click of a mechanism.

Lin Feng was alert the moment Han Lu opened his eyes. He immediately held his breath and retreated rapidly! But the powder spread extremely quickly, and despite his swift reaction, he still inhaled a trace, instantly feeling dizzy and his vision blurred! To make matters worse, the ground beneath his feet suddenly flipped downwards! It was a trapdoor!

"Go down!" Han Lu roared with wild laughter, his voice echoing through the tomb.
