Han Mei Su Xue's expression changed slightly. She hadn't expected Lin Feng to be so brave, as if he carried the iron-blooded spirit of a thousand troops charging into battle.

The two dared not be negligent, and they simultaneously drew their swords, engaging Lin Feng in battle.

In an instant, swords flashed and shadows danced below the cliff, and powerful energy filled the air, causing fallen leaves to fly and sand and stones to tumble about.

Lin Feng fought two opponents alone, yet he held his own against them. His swordsmanship was expansive and powerful, each strike carrying an indomitable spirit.

Even masters like Hanmei and Suxue had no choice but to temporarily avoid the limelight and join forces to deal with the situation.

In the blink of an eye, more than twenty moves had passed.

Lin Feng knew that a prolonged battle would be disadvantageous. The enemy outnumbered him, and although he was unlikely to be defeated, it would be difficult for him to win in a short period of time.

He glanced around, seized an opportunity, and suddenly forced Su Xue back with a slash. He used the momentum to retreat quickly, and at the same time, he reached into his robes with his left hand, took out the black lacquered wooden box, and held it high!

"Is this what you wanted?" Lin Feng said loudly.

Hanmei Suxue paused, her gaze fixed on the wooden box.

"Catch!" Lin Feng suddenly exerted his strength and hurled the wooden box hard toward the northwest, where the forest was denser, in the opposite direction from where Su Wanyue and the others had fled!

The wooden box pierced the night sky and flew into the depths of the dark mountain forest.

Hanmei's expression changed, and without thinking, she shot towards the direction from which the wooden box had flown out.

Seeing this, the others also abandoned Lin Feng and chased after the wooden box.

Lin Feng sneered, turned around, and headed southeast. With a few leaps, he disappeared into the vast forest.

A moment later, Hanmei, with a gloomy face, walked out of the woods in the northwest, carrying an empty black lacquered wooden box.

The wooden box is empty!

"We've fallen for their trap." Su Xue's face beneath her veil was extremely grim.

Hanmei stared at the empty box in her hand, her eyes as cold as ice: "What a clever escape! Chase after them!"

Lin Feng sped through the dark mountain forest at full speed.

He deliberately took a roundabout route, leaving several misleading traces, and finally arrived at a secluded mountain valley where he had arranged to meet Lao Zhao and the others.

There is a stream in the valley that is almost completely covered by bushes. Beside the stream is a huge, hollow reclining ox rock with enough space inside to accommodate several people. It was a temporary place he discovered by chance when he passed by last time.

He approached silently, emitting a few distinctive insect chirps.

A moment later, Old Zhao's hushed voice came from behind the rock: "Master Lin?"

"It's me." Lin Feng flashed into the space behind the stone.

"Husband!" Su Wanyue immediately rushed over and hugged him tightly, her body still trembling slightly.

Bai Xiaohe also breathed a sigh of relief and lit a tinderbox—in the dim light, one could see that her face was also pale from the aftermath of the ordeal.

"I'm fine." Lin Feng gently patted Su Wanyue's back.

"Master Lin, those women in white just now, were they even more formidable members of the White-Clad Guards?" Old Zhao asked, still shaken.

"Yes, it should be called 'Winter Plum' or 'Pure Snow'."

He frowned slightly. "They are highly skilled in martial arts, and their goal is clear: what I'm holding."

He touched his chest; the wooden box was still there. The box he had thrown out to lure away the pursuers was an empty one he had prepared beforehand.

"How did they find us so quickly? And how did they know we changed direction?" Su Wanyue wondered.

Lin Feng pondered for a moment and said, "Whether it's the Plum Blossom Guard or the White-Clad Guard, they probably have more informants in the local area than we think. It's not surprising that they've tracked down our approximate location."

"What do we do now? Is it safe here?" Old Zhao asked worriedly.

"It's safe for now, but we shouldn't stay here for long," Lin Feng said.

"We must leave this area before dawn...and get to Prince Jing's secluded valley as soon as possible."

Suddenly, from deep within the cave came an extremely faint "crack" sound, like stones rubbing together.

"Who?!" The four of them instantly became alert.

Lin Feng stepped in front of the others, his long sword drawn half an inch from its sheath, his gaze shooting like lightning towards the source of the sound.

The view ahead was obstructed by several naturally fallen rocks, making it difficult to see clearly. The sound was coming from there.

Silence reigned. The only sound was the faint murmur of the stream flowing through the cracks in the rocks.

"Friend, since you're here, why not show yourself?" Lin Feng said in a deep voice, his voice echoing in the stone cave.

A few breaths later, an aged, hoarse voice, as if it hadn't spoken for many years and with a texture like the friction of stone, drifted out from behind the stone:

"Young man, don't be so murderous. I'm just an old man who's looking after the mountain and stopped by for a rest."

As the voice spoke, a hunched figure, leaning on a crooked wooden cane, slowly emerged from behind the fallen rocks.

In the dim light of the tinderbox, everyone could make out the appearance of the newcomer, and their hearts skipped a beat.

He was an old man whose exact age was hard to discern. His hair and beard were snow-white and tangled together, almost completely obscuring his face, leaving only a pair of cloudy eyes that occasionally flashed with a sharp light.

He was dressed in tattered clothes, covered in mud and grass clippings, and his straw sandals were almost worn out.

He looked like the most common, lonely, and helpless woodcutter in the mountains.

"The one watching the mountain?" Lin Feng remained vigilant; though his sword wasn't fully drawn, his aura was already locked onto the old man.

"In this desolate wilderness, with no village or shop in sight, the old man is in high spirits."

"Mountains, once you've looked at them long enough, feel like home," the old man said slowly, walking to the center of the cave and naturally sitting down on a relatively flat rock.

"Carrying something hot to handle, you've attracted the attention of a pack of wolves, haven't you?"

Lin Feng's heart skipped a beat. Did this old man know about the jade pendant?

He remained calm and composed: "Old man, you're joking. We're just lost merchants; we don't have anything of trouble."

"A traveling merchant?" The old man chuckled, his voice still hoarse.

"Trading merchants don't have such a strong smell of blood, nor such sharp eyes, and they certainly wouldn't attract 'White-Clad Snow' and 'Black Mountain Scorpion' to chase them together."

He paused, then added, "Oh, you young people might call them 'Winter Plum' or 'Pure Snow,' and 'Black Wind Village.'"

These words shocked all four of them!

This old man not only knew who the pursuers were, but also seemed to know the details of Hanmei Suxue and Black Wind Village!

"Who exactly are you?" Bai Xiaohe couldn't help but ask, her hand already reaching for the short blade hidden in her sleeve.
