Lin Feng perked up, grabbed Doctor Sun and the other man, and darted out through the hole in the wall, rolling into an even narrower and darker alley next door.

Qin Hongyu and two guards had already come to their aid, each helping one of the doctor and the young apprentice to their feet before turning and running. Bai Xiaohe and the other two guards continued to fire hidden weapons and arrows backward to slow down the pursuers.

"Go!" Lin Feng shouted in a low voice. The group stopped fighting and quickly left the shouts and curses behind them far behind.

"Brother Lin, are you alright? And who are these two...?" Qin Hongyu asked, looking at the still shaken Doctor Sun and his companion.

"Dr. Sun from Jishetang in Blackwater City was kidnapped by Qian Sihai and forced to reveal the secret formula of 'Jade Bone Grass'," Lin Feng quickly explained, taking out the letters from his pocket.

"This was found in the cellar. Qian Sihai colluded with Feng Kun and planned to ambush Instructor Qin Yong at 'Old Wolf's Mouth' tomorrow."

"Qian Sihai! Feng Kun! Good! Very good!" She gritted her teeth, "If I don't avenge this, I, Qin Hongyu, swear I'm not human!"

"Those men in black who arrived later were well-trained; it's not like Qian Sihai could afford to support them. It's likely that Feng Kun or even other forces have gotten involved. We must leave Songhe Fort immediately and, before Instructor Qin Yong arrives at 'Old Wolf's Mouth,' inform him and change our itinerary," Lin Feng said calmly.

The group stealthily returned to Qin's Goods Store once more.

They left Uncle Fu to guard the warehouse, while the rest of the group, leading several fast horses selected from the warehouse's stables, quietly left Songhe Fort and quickly disappeared into the boundless darkness outside the city.

Lin Feng took the lead, his sharp eyes scanning the dark mountain shadows in front and on both sides, his ears picking up any unusual sounds in the wind.

Suddenly, Lin Feng reined in his horse and gestured for everyone to stop. He listened intently for a moment, then sniffed the air.

"There is a faint smell of blood, carried by the wind."

Lin Feng said in a low voice, pointing to a denser and darker forest to the left front, "Over there, about a mile away from us."

Everyone's hearts tightened. Qin Hongyu immediately signaled a guard to dismount and sneak over to investigate.

A moment later, the guard returned, his face grave: "In the ravine ahead, there are seven or eight dead. It looks like two groups engaged in a firefight, and one side was wiped out. The bodies are still warm; they've been dead for less than half an hour. Judging from their attire, they seem... they seem like skilled soldiers, but they weren't wearing uniforms."

A skilled soldier? The crowd exchanged bewildered glances.

Could it be that the people Feng Kun sent to clear the area in advance or set up an ambush encountered another force?

"Go take a look, be careful." Lin Feng dismounted, handed the reins to another guard, and stealthily headed towards the direction from which the smell of blood was coming.

Qin Hongyu, Bai Xiaohe, and two guards followed closely behind, leaving two others to protect Su Wanyue and Doctor Sun.

After passing through a patch of rocks and bushes, a hidden valley appeared ahead.

Moonlight occasionally peeked through the clouds, illuminating the corpses lying haphazardly in the hollow.

There were nine people in total, all dressed in black and masked, but the quality of their clothing and the style of their weapons clearly indicated that they belonged to two different groups.

Lin Feng crouched down, carefully examining the wounds, especially the five corpses that had been cleanly and swiftly killed. The method... seemed somewhat familiar. Fast, accurate, ruthless, leaving no room for error, and it seemed to have deliberately avoided a direct confrontation, more like a sneak attack or assassination.

He then examined another body and found an almost invisible plum blossom mark embroidered with extremely fine silver thread on the inside of its boot!

As expected, they are the Plum Blossom Guards! Li Song's men!

These two groups—one composed of skilled soldiers sent by Feng Kun (or Qian Sihai), and the other surprisingly Li Song's Plum Blossom Guards—are clashing here. Why?

"It seems that there are more than one group eyeing the Qin family's shipment, or rather, Feng Kun's business." Lin Feng stood up.

"The Plum Blossom Guards also intervened. They encountered Feng Kun's men here, and for some reason, a fight broke out. Judging from the result, the Plum Blossom Guards gained the upper hand and wiped out the enemy, but they also lost four of their own men."

He quickly analyzed, "Judging from the body's temperature, the battle ended not long ago. The Plum Blossom Guards have probably already gone to Old Wolf's Mouth to set up ambushes. Miss Qin, you are familiar with the terrain of Old Wolf's Mouth. Which locations on the mountains on both sides are the most suitable for an ambush?"

Qin Hongyu pondered for a moment, then pointed to two mountain shadows that appeared faintly visible in the darkness ahead, resembling a wolf's kiss closing in: "One is 'Eagle Beak Rock' on the east side of the entrance, the second is 'Rough Rock Slope' on the west side of the middle section, and the third is 'A Line of Sky' near the exit."

"Let's go to 'Eagle Beak Rock' first," Lin Feng decided. "It's the highest point there, with the best view. If we can take it first, we can observe the overall situation and also use arrows to disrupt the ambush below at crucial moments."

Without further delay, the group headed towards "Eagle Beak Rock".

Eagle Beak Rock is a huge rock that juts out abruptly from the eastern cliff, shaped like an eagle's beak, with the winding official road just tens of feet below.

Lin Feng clung to the edge of the rock like a gecko, slowly poking his head out to look down into the canyon and across the opposite cliff.

His gaze swept over the key locations Qin Hongyu had mentioned. Soon, in the direction of the "rocky slope," in the shadows behind several boulders, he caught an extremely faint reflection—metal! And not just in one place!

A rough estimate suggests that at least twenty or thirty people were lying in ambush. Judging from their concealed postures and vague outlines, they appeared to be well-trained soldiers.

On the cliff top of "One Line Sky" further away, he also saw several black figures moving quickly and disappearing. The number of them was unknown, but their movements were sinister and mysterious. They did not seem to be soldiers, but it could be the Plum Blossom Guards.

Sure enough! Feng Kun's men were at "Rock Slope," ready to ambush them.

Meanwhile, the Plum Blossom Guards occupied the "One Line Sky," probably intending to wait until both sides were exhausted, or until Feng Kun's men succeeded, before launching a double attack!

What a vicious scheme! What a cruel heart!

"Brother Lin, did you see it?" Qin Hongyu also crept over and asked in a low voice.

"Hmm." Lin Feng nodded and quickly recounted what he had observed.

Qin Hongyu's face turned pale, her eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and coldness: "Instructor Qin and the others should arrive around Chenshi (7-9 AM), there's not much time left."

Lin Feng's mind raced as he explained his approach to Qin Hongyu.

His plan was meticulously crafted, making full use of terrain, fire attacks, feints, and psychological warfare. Although risky, it was the best solution given the current situation.

Qin Hongyu's eyes gleamed with admiration, and she nodded emphatically, "Alright! We'll do as Brother Lin says!"

Without further hesitation, everyone immediately split up and took action.

As dawn broke, the mist in the canyon began to drift slowly. In the distance, the muffled, rhythmic sounds of horses' hooves and wheels could be faintly heard, growing louder as they approached.

Coach Qin's convoy has arrived!

Lin Feng held his breath, slowly drew his hunting bow from his back, nocked an arrow, and wrapped the arrowhead with an oil-soaked cloth strip.

The sound of horses' hooves grew clearer, and the outlines of a caravan could be seen at the bend in the official road. About twenty riders, escorting several carriages, were slowly making their way into the canyon.

The "Rock Slope" was deathly silent, but the taut, murderous aura seemed to emanate from the air.

The convoy slowly drove into the middle section of the "Rock Slope". Now!

"Let's do it!"

Lin Feng gave a low shout in his heart, the bowstring in his hand vibrated, and the rocket was launched, drawing a dark red trajectory in the air, heading straight for a place where debris was piled up behind a huge rock on "Rough Rock Slope"!

Almost simultaneously, his bodyguard also fired a rocket!

"Hiss!"
