However, another scout and one of Urna's men, while crossing the bridge, stepped on a burning, collapsed plank, causing the horse to lose its footing and fall into the abyss with a scream!

"We've crossed the bridge! Dismount! Take cover!" Urna was the first to rush down the bridge, tumble off her horse, and hide behind a boulder.

Lin Feng and the others dismounted and leaned against the rocks, exchanging fire with the ambush troops that appeared on the opposite cliff.

The ambush consisted of about thirty or forty men, all clad in leather armor and wielding bows, arrows, and scimitars. They occupied high ground, raining down arrows. Judging from their equipment and formation, they did not appear to be ordinary bandits, but rather a well-trained tribal army or a nobleman's private troops.

"It's Burte's 'Black Wolf Guard'!"

Urna gritted her teeth, raised her hand, and shot an arrow, felling an archer on the opposite bank who was drawing his bow.

"We can't fight this long! Fight and retreat, heading towards Eagle's Sorrow Cliff!" Lin Feng said to Yan Qing. "Use smoke bombs to hinder their pursuit!"

Yan Qing nodded, took out the last two smoke bombs from his pocket, and, seizing the opportunity, threw them forcefully towards the group of pursuers gathered on the opposite bank.

"Boom! Boom!" Thick smoke rose again, choking the pursuers who coughed repeatedly, slowing their offensive slightly.

"Go!" Urna seized the opportunity to mount her horse and led the way towards a rocky hilly area to the northeast. Lin Feng and the others also mounted their horses and followed closely behind.

Under the cover of the thick smoke, Lin Feng and his men temporarily shook off their pursuers, but they dared not relax their vigilance in the slightest.

Urna's back wound reopened during the violent jolting, and blood soaked through her leather armor. Her face was pale, but she didn't utter a sound, only gritting her teeth and controlling the horse.

"Your injury..." Lin Feng rode alongside her, his heart tightening as he looked at her pale face and the cold sweat on her forehead.

"I won't die!" Urna spat out the words through gritted teeth, grabbed a handful of herbs from the leather pouch beside the saddle without looking at them, chewed them up, and swallowed them with the blood and foam. "Twenty more miles... I can hold on!"

As the morning light gradually brightened, it dispelled some of the fog, making them even more exposed.

Behind them, the shouts of the Black Wolf Guards and the sound of horses' hooves could be faintly heard again.

"Running like this won't work." Lin Feng looked at Urna's swaying figure and his mind raced. "We need to find a place to avoid the brunt of the attack and treat our wounds."

"Five miles ahead, there is an abandoned beacon tower called 'Lone Wolf Tower.' It is situated on high ground, making it easy to defend and difficult to attack. Perhaps we can take refuge there for now," Urna said breathlessly, her body swaying slightly as she struggled to stay afloat.

"Go there! Quickly!"

The group rushed in the direction Urna had pointed. Sure enough, atop a barren hill, they found the ruins of a beacon tower, mostly collapsed and built of earth and stone.

Although dilapidated, the remaining walls and terrain can still serve as a makeshift shelter.

Lin Feng and Yan Qing quickly re-bandaged the injured Ye Bushou and Wuerna. Wuerna's back wound was deep, with the skin and flesh turned outwards, indicating significant blood loss.

Lin Feng applied medicine and bandaged her wounds. Urna trembled all over in pain, her teeth clenched, but she didn't utter a sound. She just stared intently at the path from which the pursuers might appear down the mountain.

"They'll be here soon." Her voice was weak but still clear. "Lone Wolf Terrace is indefensible and surrounded by enemies. We can only hold out for half an hour at most."

"Commander," Yan Qing said in a low voice, "I'll lead my men on horseback eastward as a feigned movement to draw away the pursuers. Commander and Miss Urna can then take the opportunity to head north, perhaps..."

"No way!" Lin Feng flatly rejected the idea. "The Black Wolf Guards aren't fools. If we split up, we'll be defeated one by one. We'll go together or defend together."

"But……"

"No buts." Lin Feng's gaze swept over the tired yet determined faces of the group. "We've shared life and death together; how can we abandon our comrades here? Besides, Miss Urna is seriously injured and needs protection. Right here, let's fight the Black Wolf Guards to the death!"

His tone was resolute and unwavering.

Urna looked at Lin Feng's sharply defined profile, a complex and unfathomable light flashing in her eyes, seemingly both moved and resolute.

"Commander Lin," she suddenly whispered, her voice much softer, "if...Urna survives this time, I am willing to follow you for the rest of my life, serving you faithfully, to repay the kindness you showed me today."

Lin Feng was taken aback and looked at her. In the morning light, her pale face was stained with blood, yet she possessed a breathtaking, resolute beauty that belonged to a daughter of the grasslands.

"You flatter me, young lady. It's only right that we share the same boat," Lin Feng said gently, adding, "We will all survive."

Urna didn't say anything more, but just gripped the scimitar in her hand tighter.

Down the mountain, the sound of horses' hooves thundered, and the figures of the Black Wolf Guards appeared in sight. About thirty riders were fanning out towards Lone Wolf Terrace.

The leader, a knight in black armor wielding a spear, was none other than Harbala, the commander of the Black Wolf Guard under Brte.

"Listen up, you men!" Halbala roared in broken Chinese, "Lay down your weapons, or you'll be spared! Resist to the bitter end, and you'll be killed without mercy!"

The answer he received was a crossbow bolt fired by Yan Qing, which landed precisely a foot in front of his horse.

"Kill!" Halbala roared, pointing his spear.

More than thirty Black Wolf Guards, like wolves that have smelled blood, pounced on Lone Wolf Platform from three directions!

"Release the arrows!" Lin Feng shouted, firing a rapid-fire barrage of arrows from his powerful bow, each one piercing the throat or face of a Black Wolf Guard with pinpoint accuracy.

Yan Qing and another night watchman also desperately drew their bows, the poisoned crossbow bolts like invitations from the Grim Reaper, constantly shooting down the enemies charging at the forefront.

However, the Black Wolf Guards were numerous and experienced in battle. After suffering seven or eight casualties, they rushed to the edge of the ruins, dismounted, brandished their scimitars, and howled as they climbed up!

"Hold the breach!" Lin Feng abandoned his bow and took up his sword, leaping out with his longsword transforming into a streak of cold light as he met the two Black Wolf Guards in the lead. A flash of light, and two heads flew into the air, spraying hot blood.

He kept moving, like a tiger among sheep, dashing left and right through the narrow passages of ruins. Wherever he went, severed limbs flew everywhere, and no one could stop him!

Yan Qing also abandoned his crossbow and took up his sword, standing shoulder to shoulder with another night scout, fiercely guarding the breach on the other side. Ulna, along with her men, used scimitars and short spears to engage the enemies who had climbed onto the wall in close combat.

The battle instantly escalated into the most brutal melee.

A fierce soldier from the Black Wolf Guard seized an opening, bypassed Lin Feng, and pounced straight at Urna, who was leaning against the broken wall with a pale face. His curved blade, carrying a fierce wind, slashed towards the top of her head!

Urna struggled to raise her knife to block, and with a loud clang, her already weak body was shaken and she staggered backward, her back slamming heavily against the crumbling wall. Her wounds reopened, blood gushed out, and her vision went black.

"Ulna!" Lin Feng caught a glimpse of her out of the corner of his eye and was greatly alarmed. He roared and swept his long sword horizontally, forcing back the two enemies in front of him. His figure was as fast as lightning as he turned around and pounced on the Black Wolf Guard!

The Black Wolf Guard was about to strike again when Lin Feng's longsword, like a venomous dragon emerging from its lair, pierced upwards from below, penetrating the Black Wolf Guard's ribs and straight to his heart!

Black Wolf Guard's eyes bulged out, blood gushed from his mouth, and he collapsed to the ground.
