Chapter 344 Morning Dew
In the candlelight, the princess raised her eyes.
Dressed in formal attire, her young face lacked some of its usual maturity and composure, but possessed a youthful radiance befitting her age, along with a hint of nervousness. She looked at Lin Feng, her cheeks slightly flushed.
"My wife." Lin Feng sat down on the edge of the bed.
The princess blushed even more, lowered her eyes, and her long eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings. After a moment, she called out in a very low voice, "...Husband."
Lin Feng took her hand. Her hand was small, soft, and cool. "Are you tired?"
The princess shook her head, then nodded. "Somewhat. But... I'm happy inside." She raised her eyes, her gaze clear.
Lin Feng picked up the nuptial wine cup, saying, "After drinking this cup, we will be a true couple."
The two men intertwined their arms and each drank.
The atmosphere seemed to relax a bit. The princess looked at Lin Feng and suddenly asked, "Husband, what about Urna...?"
"She's right next door," Lin Feng said. "Tonight, I need to consider both sides. Will my wife mind?"
The princess shook her head: "Urna and I are like sisters, we've been through life and death together. Now that we're married, we should be of one heart. My husband, you may go. I... I'll wait for you."
Lin Feng gently kissed her smooth forehead. "Wait for me."
He rose and removed the heavy phoenix crown from the princess, saying softly, "Remove your makeup first and rest for a while."
The princess nodded obediently.
Lin Feng walked out of the princess's tent and turned to walk into Urna's tent next to it.
Urna had already torn off her veil and tossed it aside. Facing the bronze mirror, she tried to remove the silver crown and elaborate hair ornaments that she found "extremely cumbersome."
Lin Feng walked behind her, gently took her hand, and carefully removed her silver crown and hair ornaments one by one.
Lin Feng gently smoothed her thick, slightly wavy long hair and let it fall down.
"We haven't drunk the nuptial wine yet." Lin Feng walked to the table and poured two glasses of wine.
Urna stood up and walked over, her steps still carrying the crispness of a soldier. She took the wine glass, looked at Lin Feng, her eyes filled with complex emotions—shyness and trepidation.
Their arms were intertwined. Urna tilted her head back and downed the wine in her glass in one gulp, a bold move, but she choked and coughed because she drank too fast, her cheeks turning even redder.
Lin Feng finished his drink, put down his glass, and gently patted her back.
Suddenly, Urna reached out, grabbed Lin Feng's collar, and tilted her head back to kiss him.
The kiss was haphazard, even somewhat rough, yet it carried a fiery passion and the straightforwardness of the grassland people, pouring all their unease, shyness, and love into it.
Lin Feng was slightly taken aback by her sudden enthusiasm, but then he took the initiative and deepened the kiss.
The red candles warm the bedchamber, but the spring night is too short.
As night deepened, the clamor of the royal court had long since subsided, leaving only the two connected wedding tents, where red candles burned silently.
Before dawn, the morning breeze of the grassland swept across the endless felt tents of the royal court.
Inside the two wedding tents connected to the main tent, the red candles had long since burned out.
Lin Feng woke up on time, driven by his biological clock.
He opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was the canopy above him embroidered with a golden wolf head totem. The different warm sensations coming from his sides made him feel a little dazed for a moment.
On the left, Princess Uloran lay on her side, curled up in his arms, her breathing shallow and even.
Her long, black hair spread out like clouds on the pillow, making her young face appear even whiter and more delicate. Her long eyelashes cast quiet shadows under her eyes, and her sleeping face was pure, like that of an innocent young girl.
On the right, Urna's sleeping posture was completely different. She was almost lying flat on her back, one hand loosely resting on Lin Feng's waist, the other hand resting by her side. Her brows were slightly furrowed in her sleep, as if she was still wary of something. Her thick, slightly curly long hair was scattered messily on the pillow, wild and real.
Lin Feng lay quietly, not getting up immediately.
The events of last night flashed through her mind... In the end, it was Urna herself who, carrying a pillow and barefoot, knocked on the door of the princess's tent. Amidst the princess's slightly surprised yet knowing smile, the three of them slept together in a way that none of them found awkward.
The faint sound of a maid moving about could be heard outside the tent.
The princess's eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes. Her eyes, still slightly hazy from just waking, were startled when she saw Lin Feng so close to her. Then, a blush spread across her cheeks at a visible speed, and she quickly lowered her eyes, softly calling out, "Husband...you're awake?"
Her voice was slightly hoarse from just waking up, as soft as the clouds on a grassland at dawn.
"Hmm," Lin Feng responded, carefully moving his slightly numb left arm.
The commotion startled Urna on the other side.
She sat up almost the instant she opened her eyes, the thin blanket slipped off, revealing a large expanse of her bare back.
She turned her head, her gray-blue eyes meeting Lin Feng's gaze, then quickly glanced at the princess beside her, whose cheeks were flushed. Memories of last night surged back, and a blush rose on her skin as well.
"It's time to get up." Lin Feng sat up. "There's still a lot to do today."
Day after day, one day.
At 3:45 AM, Sukhbaatar arrived on time with several key leaders to discuss matters.
After the meeting concluded and everyone dispersed, only Lin Feng, the princess, Urna, and Suhebalu remained in the tent.
"Your Highness, Prince Consort, there is one more thing," Sukhbaatar said, taking out a small bamboo tube from his robes and presenting it with both hands.
"This morning I received a letter from General Xu Tiande of Iron Wall City, specifying that it should be delivered to the Imperial Son-in-Law for his personal attention."
Lin Feng took it and pulled out the slip of paper inside to read it.
"I need to go back." He looked at the princess and Urna.
In the morning light, the grassland is vast, and new grass is just beginning to sprout.
The princess and Urna escorted him to the outside of the royal court.
"My husband, please return soon."
The princess whispered a small amulet embroidered with a wolf's head into Lin Feng's hand, saying, "This was left to me by my mother. May the Eternal Heaven protect you and keep you safe."
Lin Feng squeezed the amulet, which still held her body heat, and nodded.
Urna then unfastened the ruby-encrusted Di Rong dagger she always carried from her waist and handed it to Lin Feng: "Take this with you. In case... you need it."
Lin Feng took the short knife; it felt solid in his hand, its blade a deep blue. He knew this was Urna's prized possession.
Lin Feng mounted his horse, clasped his hands in a fist salute to the people seeing him off, then flicked the reins and galloped off towards Ironwall City with Night Defenders in tow.
