No? Can I read the mind of my mortal enemy?

Chapter 3 Who says there can only be one destined person?

Pei Jingnian's residence is not far from Victoria Harbour University; it takes ten minutes to commute by car and three subway stops to reach the teaching building.

Pushing open the door and passing through the entryway, you're immediately faced with floor-to-ceiling windows offering an unobstructed view of the sea.

Two dark gray beanbag chairs were placed right in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, with a simple bar counter on the side.

The built-in wine cabinet is filled with a wide variety of wines.

She happily sat down on the beanbag chair and leaned against the window like a little kid.

This location offers a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour, and at night you can enjoy the vibrant nightlife of the harbor.

Shi Qiao was so excited that her heart was pounding.

Her lifelong dream was to live in a house with a sea view, but unfortunately, Beijing is surrounded by inland areas on all sides, and the only options are houses with river views.

She glanced at Pei Jingnian furtively.

Not bad taste.

"Old Pei, I've brought your things up." Lu Zhou directed the employees to put down their luggage.

He raised one eyebrow and said, "I helped you out. Come over tonight if you can, please. Give me the honor."

Pei Jingnian kicked Lu Zhou in the butt. "Depends on my mood."

boom!

They simply closed the door.

Pei Jingnian took off his half-rimmed glasses. He had stayed up all night to meet the deadline for the innovative drug development project.

His gaze softened as he turned to the back of the man leaning against the window, unable to hide his excitement.

However, it was worth the hard work.

"The one on the left, that's your room."

Scattered strands of hair concealed the tenderness in his eyes. He casually placed his glasses on the coffee table and picked up a suitcase for her.

Hearing the noise, Shi Qiao hurriedly turned around, "No need, no need, I can do it myself."

Pei Jingnian's face remained largely expressionless. "You're just like a tortoise."

"I've been doing experiments all night, and I don't want to hear any noise when I'm resting."

He's complaining about her again!

When she looked up, she noticed the weariness in Pei Jingnian's eyes after he took off his glasses, with dark circles under his eyes.

I suddenly feel a little guilty.

Just a tiny bit.

"oh."

She obediently shut her mouth and began packing her luggage.

With Pei Jingnian, an efficiency expert, all the pile of luggage was sorted and packed away in less than an hour.

The last box contained her personal belongings.

She grabbed her suitcase, quickly said "thank you," and went back to her room.

After closing the door, her anxious heart finally relaxed.

It's been a long time since I've spent time alone with Pei Jingnian.

However, she was certain once again that the person who could hear her thoughts was not Pei Jingnian.

Because just now, I didn't hear anything at all; it was incredibly quiet.

Buzz, the phone suddenly vibrated.

[Jiang Youran: Qiao, how is it?]

[Shi Qiao: Just finished packing my luggage, and I'm already lying on my soft, big bed (#^.^#)]

[Jiang Youran: That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking about the owner of that voice. Is it Pei Jingnian?]

[Shi Qiao: No, it's not him. I've confirmed it. It's his brother, Lu Zhou.]

[Jiang Youran: So that's how it is. No wonder there was a misunderstanding; they've been inseparable for so many years.]

[Jiang Youran: Have you thought about how to get rid of this sound? It can't go on like this.]

[Shi Qiao: Thinking.jpg]

[Jiang Youran: Why don't you tell me what you prayed for at the Temple of Marriage?]

[Jiang Youran: Could it be that the Old Man of the Moon really heard your wish? He won't give up until you grant it?]

Shi Qiao's lips twitched.

Her wish came true...

impossible!

She sent a voice message while crying.

"Youyou, the wish I made back then was that I would meet my destined one after I went to university..."

"Because...because I've never had a very good luck in love since I was a child."

"So, that's why I said in the temple... I hope the Old Man of the Moon can give me a slightly more obvious reminder, I don't want to miss him."

"But after I came down the mountain, I saw posts online saying that people who spy on fate will die a terrible death."

"So the next day I went up the mountain again and threw in a copper coin. I said I shouldn't be too obvious. Now it seems that the God of Marriage only listened to my request on the first day..."

"Youyou, does this mean... Lu Zhou is my destined one?"

She didn't have the courage to continue and scratched her hair.

A voice message popped up from Jiang Youran: "So, the only way to make the sound disappear is to be with Lu Zhou?"

Shi Qiao wanted to scream.

But with that devil Pei Jingnian still under the same roof, she could only silently cover her face with her pillow, writhing in impotent rage.

The thought that Lu Zhou, a man with an unsettled mind who drifts between various bars, was her destined one made her want to bang her head against the ground.

[Shi Qiao: I'll take a day off now, and then go back and toss in a few more coins. Will that count?]

[Shi Qiao: I don't want a rotten cucumber, waaaaah! Lu Zhou is totally not my type!]

[Shi Qiao: If I spend the rest of my life with him, won't my future be like a husband handing me condoms while he's having sex?]

[Jiang Youran: Don't rush, Qiao, let me analyze this calmly first.]

[Jiang Youran: Um...who said there can only be one destined person!]

[Jiang Youran: Isn't there a freshman orientation event at one of the eight universities in Victoria Harbour tonight? Why don't we go and join us?]

[Jiang Youran: What if we discover other destined people? Right?]

Shi Qiao suddenly sat up.

That makes some sense.

Who says you can only have one destined person?

[Shi Qiao: Okay, I'll talk to you later, I need to get myself ready quickly.]

Shi Qiao immediately put down her phone and took out her cosmetics.

Her natural features were naturally sweet, especially her almond-shaped eyes with slightly curled eyelashes. When she smiled, her eyes curved and captivating everyone who saw her.

Her exceptional bone structure, however, gave her a touch of aloofness, unexpectedly adding to her sense of distance.

In Jiang Youran's own words, Shi Qiao simply doesn't know how to do makeup.

Applying foundation is like putting on putty, and applying eyeshadow is like playing a coloring game.

But there's nothing I can do; I'm naturally beautiful.

Shi Qiao finished applying a milky orange lip gloss and then obediently put her hair into a bun with a clip.

She slipped into a well-fitting light pink Chanel dress; the cinched waist design accentuated her proportions, making her legs appear longer.

Paired with slightly French retro-style pearl earrings, the whole person looks as exquisite as a walking rag doll.

Everything was ready, and it was already past six o'clock in the evening.

She picked up her small handbag and closed the door as quietly as possible.

I tiptoed out the door cautiously.

Whew, I can finally catch my breath.

*

The freshman social event was held in the vibrant Central district, a quiet bar with a relaxed atmosphere and people scattered around the tables.

"Hey, here!!" Jiang Youran waved and ran up to Shi Qiao, taking her arm. "Quick, quick, I've already spotted a few handsome guys, let's go!"

"Slow down, handsome guys aren't going to run away." Shi Qiao followed him into the tavern.

As soon as I stepped into the tavern, I immediately attracted a lot of attention.

"Brother Lu, that's impressive! Where's Lao Pei?"

Lu Zhou grinned, revealing his tiger teeth, "Old Pei, I guess he can't make it."

"Damn, bro, there's a hot girl here!"

Lu Zhou, with a shot glass dangling from his mouth, casually looked up.

I don’t know, I’m scared.

The shot cup fell to the ground and made a crisp sound.

Isn't that Lao Pei's woman?

In their line of sight, two boys had already walked up to Shi Qiao and the little girl next to her.

That face of his, it's obvious he's trying to pick her up!

He quickly called Pei Jingnian, but Pei didn't answer until the third call.

"Are you sick?" Pei Jingnian asked, his voice laced with barely conscious anger.

"Never mind whether I'm sick or not, what's your wife doing at a bar?"

"Two more men have already made their move!"

boom!

Pei Jingnian woke up.

I woke up instantly.
