"Good, very good!"

At the Blue Star Command Center, Lin Feng's voice was clearly transmitted through quantum communication to the control room of the Guanghan Base, 380,000 kilometers away, carrying undisguised praise and satisfaction.

On the large screen, the panoramic view of the Guanghan Base was spectacular and full of life: a huge, semi-transparent dome covered the interior of the crater, which was brightly lit, with well-organized functional areas in distinct zones. Small transport vehicles and staff in light cabin suits could be vaguely seen shuttling back and forth. On the outside, solar panels spread out like silver wings, and the energy readings of the fusion reactor, which was operating stably, flashed on the screen.

"The first phase has concluded perfectly, proving that our theoretical, design, and engineering capabilities can fully withstand the test of extraterrestrial environments." Lin Feng's tone turned serious and full of anticipation. "But this is only the skeleton and blood vessels. Next, we need to infuse this skeleton with flesh and blood and a soul to verify whether it can truly become a living home."

He drew up the detailed plan for the second phase:

"The second phase, codenamed 'Inheritance,' aims to verify the complete life support capabilities and long-term sustainability of the 100-square-kilometer closed ecosystem at the Guanghan Base. We will introduce various organisms that have undergone rigorous screening and adaptation training in batches, ranging from microorganisms and plants to small animals. Ultimately, the key is the long-term residency experiment with human volunteers."

"The timeframe is set at six months." Lin Feng's gaze seemed to pierce through the screen, looking directly at every expert on the moon. "During these six months, we will closely monitor the entire ecosystem's material cycle, energy flow, atmospheric composition stability, water purification efficiency, food production and consumption balance, and... the physiological and psychological states of all life forms."

"If these six months pass smoothly and all indicators meet the standards, it will prove that we have truly mastered the ability to build self-sustaining life-sustaining homes on the moon, or even other similar celestial bodies. This means that humanity on Earth will officially take its first solid step towards interstellar migration!"

"Yes! Understood!"

"Mission accomplished!"

A firm and powerful response rang out simultaneously from both the lunar and ground command centers. A fire burned in everyone's eyes; they clearly understood that they were participating in writing one of the most glorious chapters in human history.

The "Inheritance" project was then launched.

The first "residents" were genetically optimized nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria and soil-improving microorganisms, which were carefully scattered into the specially designed "lunar soil farm" area within the base. Next, modified mosses, lichens, and fast-growing herbaceous plants that are resistant to low gravity and high radiation were transplanted in to take on the initial tasks of oxygen production and soil fixation.

Weeks later, once the micro-ecosystem had begun to stabilize, some insects and small arthropods were introduced to complete the initial links of the food chain. Meanwhile, the first group of human volunteers—ten top scientists and engineers from various fields—who had undergone rigorous psychological and physiological evaluations, arrived at the Guanghan base aboard a state-of-the-art spacecraft to begin their initial three-month stay.

Their mission is twofold: first, to act as advanced sensors, experiencing and recording every detail of life at the base; and second, to conduct necessary scientific research and facility debugging.

Lin Feng closely monitored everything through comprehensive monitoring and data streams. He saw the volunteers walk, eat, and sleep under lunar gravity for the first time; he saw them pollinating plants, testing water quality, and maintaining equipment in the sealed ecological cabin; he saw the awe and homesickness in their eyes as they looked up at the blue planet through the dome; and he also saw their joy as they celebrated with high fives when the experiment was successful.

Data, like a trickle, flowed into the ground-based supercomputer. Oxygen concentration remained stable at around 21%; carbon dioxide was efficiently absorbed and converted; the water recycling system purified wastewater into drinking water; the initially planted wheat and vegetables grew well and were expected to provide some food supplies. All volunteers' physiological indicators were normal, and psychological assessments showed a positive and stable condition.

Everything is developing in the most ideal direction.

After confirming that the "Inheritance" plan was progressing smoothly and steadily, Lin Feng knew it was time to launch the next major project concerning the future.

He connected Mr. Chen's hotline.

"Elder Chen, the second phase of the Guanghan Base is progressing smoothly, with an expected success rate of extremely high." Lin Feng first reported the good news, then changed the subject, "In order to protect the achievements we have already made and prepare for a broader journey into the stars in the future, I need to launch two new projects of strategic significance."

"Oh? You've found a new direction so quickly?" Old Chen's voice was full of surprise and anticipation. "Tell me about it."

"The first one, codenamed Wukong," Lin Feng said in a deep voice. "Based on a mature space-based platform and fusion energy technology, we will develop and deploy an orbital strategic defense and strike system. It will be a shield of the heavens and a sword of punishment hanging over our heads, ensuring the absolute safety of near-Earth space and the Earth's home planet, and providing orbital fire support for future deep space travel."

"The second one, codenamed White Tiger," Lin Feng continued, "is the development of the first-generation individual soldier exoskeleton powered armor. The goal is to achieve seamless integration of the soldier and the armor, significantly enhancing the individual soldier's survivability, mobility, and combat capabilities in multi-dimensional battlefields such as land, sea, and space. This will be the core equipment for future interstellar marines and special operations."

On the other end of the phone, Old Chen was silent for a few seconds, his breathing noticeably heavier. He knew all too well the strategic weight behind those two names. Wukong signified control of the heavens, while Baihu represented a revolution in ground and amphibious warfare. One held up the sky, the other armed the earth—these were the indispensable spear and shield as civilization ventured into the stars.

"I'll report to the highest levels immediately! What do you need?" Old Chen's voice was resolute.

"I need the nation's top aerospace weapons experts, materials scientists, energy experts, artificial intelligence engineers, and individual soldier equipment designers. And also, the highest level of authority and resource allocation power over the Northwest Base." Lin Feng had already made up his mind.

"No problem! The personnel and authorization will be in place within 24 hours!"

The decision-making efficiency at the highest level was unprecedented. Less than two hours after Lin Feng's report was delivered, the approval order and supreme authorization had been issued. Nationwide, top talents in relevant fields received another urgent transfer order, destination: a top-secret base in the Northwest.

Lin Feng handed over the daily monitoring of the Guanghan Base Inheritance Project to the ground command center and authorized them to contact him directly in case of major technical problems. Afterwards, he and Zhao Weiguo boarded a special plane and flew once again to that familiar Gobi Desert, which carried the dreams of countless major national projects.

The Northwest Base welcomed Lin Feng with the highest level of protocol. Some of the giant factory buildings and test fields that were once used for Project Xuanyuan were quickly cleared and remodeled in preparation for ground testing of large components for the Wukong Platform and extreme environment simulation of the White Tiger Armor.

The expert team from across the country was basically assembled within three days. Many of them knew each other but had never met. Now, they were gathered together because of Lin Feng and these two mysterious and important projects, feeling both honored by their mission and full of curiosity.

Lin Feng didn't keep them waiting long. In the largest confidential conference room of the base, he directly laid out the preliminary theoretical framework and design goals of "Wukong" and "Baihu". When the grand concept of the space-based weapon platform and the futuristic concept diagram of individual armor were displayed on the screen, the room erupted in uncontrollable gasps and gasps of astonishment.

Shocking! Absolutely shocking!

"Everyone, our goal is clear." Lin Feng's voice quelled the noise. "To turn theory into reality in the shortest possible time. To have Wukong guard our skies, and for Baihu to make our warriors kings in any environment. Unlimited resources, top-level access—I have only one requirement: perfection and absolute certainty!"

Following a brief mobilization meeting, the Northwest Base instantly entered a state of frenzied yet orderly scientific research and production. Inside the massive factory buildings, the smelting furnaces for new composite materials smelted day and night; the supercomputer clusters operated at full speed, simulating the orbital dynamics of the Wukong platform and the neural interconnection algorithms of the White Tiger armor; in the precision machining workshop, core components with errors measured in nanometers were being meticulously crafted.

Lin Feng shuttled between various core laboratories and final assembly workshops. He answered the questions of materials experts, optimized weapon energy path design, and adjusted the ergonomic parameters of armor... He was like a tireless central processor, efficiently breaking down and implementing the perfect solution that had been developed over five years in the system space, combined with the actual industrial conditions.

Time flew by simultaneously at the lunar base for ecological experiments and at the Northwest base for intensive research and development.

Blue Star rotated approximately 180 times.

The Moon, the Vast Cold Base.

The heritage project entered its final day. Ten human volunteers completed their three-month stay, both physically and mentally in excellent condition. The ecosystem within the base operated smoothly, achieving basic self-sufficiency in oxygen, water, and food, with a remarkable 96.7% material cycle closure rate. All introduced organisms, from microorganisms to small mammals, adapted well, demonstrating vigorous vitality.

As the last batch of test data was transmitted back to Earth via quantum communication, the command center erupted in deafening cheers!

"Report to the Commander-in-Chief! All pre-set verification items for the Heritage Project have been successfully passed! Repeat, all have been successfully passed!"

At the same time, Lin Feng also received the message at the Northwest Base. Standing in front of the first main structure of the Wukong platform, which was under final assembly, he looked at the image on the screen from the lunar base showing volunteers standing in front of a vibrant lunar farm, giving a thumbs up. A relieved yet incredibly proud smile appeared on his face.

Successful.

The Guanghan Base is not just a building; it has truly become a self-sustaining and vibrant alien home.
