Rejecting Tsinghua and Peking Universities: I Will Lead Harbin Institute of Technology to World Lead
Chapter 191 The Lair: A Conspiracy Amidst Subtle Currents
After the golden-haired ape was defeated, it entered the crevice.
Outside lies the cold expanse of space and a devastating battlefield, but deep within the rift lies a completely different world.
The enormous passage extends downwards for tens of kilometers, passing through thick layers of rock, before finally opening up into a breathtaking vista.
Contrary to human imagination, the crack contained a vast forest.
Towering trees, hundreds of meters tall, with lush foliage, blocked out the sun. A dark red light emanated from their trunks and leaves, illuminating the entire space like dusk. The ground was covered with thick moss, and various strange plants grew within the dark red light. The air was filled with a rich vitality, a stark contrast to the lifeless emptiness of outer space.
The entire forest is full of life, and monkeys can be seen everywhere.
They leap and frolic among the giant trees, drink and feed by the streams, and train and fight in clearings. Their numbers are at least in the tens of thousands, densely distributed throughout the forest.
However, no human or humanoid creature was seen in this forest.
This is their world, a kingdom unique to apes.
The golden-haired ape, Caesar, landed with the remnants of his army on a clearing at the edge of the forest. Their armor was cracked, and they were covered in wounds of all sizes, looking utterly wretched.
A red-haired ape stationed at the entrance saw this and its pupils suddenly contracted.
"Caesar, are you injured?"
It strode forward, its gaze sweeping over the defeated soldiers, its eyes filled with disbelief. In its mind, these warriors were the most elite force of their tribe; how could they possibly be injured?
"The humans from that planet actually managed to hurt you?" The red-haired ape's voice was filled with obvious shock.
Caesar did not answer immediately. It slowly landed on the ground, planted its giant axe in the earth, and then looked up at the redhead.
Its eyes were calm, but beneath that calm lay a raging fire of fury.
"Our intelligence was wrong," Caesar said slowly, his voice low. "The humans on that planet possess far more powerful weapons, weapons that can easily block our axe strikes and tear through our armor."
The red-haired ape was stunned.
"The intelligence was wrong?" Its voice rose several octaves. "That's impossible!"
It waved its arms excitedly, as if emphasizing some irrefutable fact: "We've been keeping a close eye on their most powerful nation, learning about their technology through that game world. All that data, that information, that analysis—it all proves that their technological level absolutely cannot surpass ours!"
"Their weapons could not possibly harm us in the slightest!" the redhead said firmly.
Caesar watched it in silence.
Those golden eyes held no emotion, only a cold, calm stillness.
It offered no rebuttal, no argument.
Would it deliberately lose to the humans of that planet? Would it willingly lead thousands of elite troops out, only to return with its remnants?
The redhead felt uneasy under those eyes, and his voice gradually lowered.
Ultimately, it avoided Caesar's gaze.
"Caesar, what's next?" The redhead changed the subject, his tone tinged with a hint of probing.
Caesar remained silent for a few seconds before slowly speaking.
"Our planet doesn't have enough energy."
Its voice was deep and serious: "In the battle just now, we consumed a great deal of energy to hold off the human attack. Repairing the armor, recharging the weapons, and healing the wounds all require energy. But the planet is now damaged as well; nuclear bombs have destroyed nearly half of the surface, and the rate of energy recovery is far from keeping up with the consumption."
The redhead's expression also turned serious.
"We need to replenish our energy," Caesar continued. "Only then can our weapons and armor unleash even greater power. But the humans on that planet have found our weakness—they will no longer use energy attacks, but physical ones. Nuclear bombs, or other live ammunition."
It paused, its gaze growing even colder.
"If this continues, we will inevitably be completely destroyed by them."
The redhead fell silent.
"So," Caesar looked at it, "let us use energy attacks against us in the countries controlled by that planet."
The redhead raised his head, a glint of light flashing in his eyes.
"Given enough energy, our planet can be rapidly repaired, and our armor and weapons will reach peak performance. At that point, humanity's physical weapons won't even be able to get close to us. We will be able to completely destroy any enemy."
Caesar's voice carried an undeniable certainty.
The redhead nodded emphatically: "I understand. I will give them the orders immediately."
It turned to leave, but Caesar called it back.
"etc."
Caesar slowly stood up and walked to the red-haired man. His golden fur stood out starkly in the dark red light, and his eyes flashed with a cold, icy light.
"Although we lost this war, it doesn't mean we won't retaliate."
Its voice was deep and rumbling like thunder: "Summon our first vanguard and have them infiltrate human territory silently. No need for a large-scale offensive, no need for direct combat. Just find an opportunity to launch a surprise attack."
"We've failed, so naturally we won't let them get away with it." A chilling smile crept across Caesar's lips. "Let them taste what it's like to lose their own people."
A flicker of excitement flashed in the red-haired ape's eyes.
"Alright! I will immediately order the First Vanguard to enter human territory and launch a devastating attack!"
It turned and left, its figure quickly disappearing into the depths of the forest.
Caesar stood still, his gaze passing through the dense foliage to the crack overhead that led to space.
Outside, the blue planet floated silently in the darkness.
It was so small and so fragile, yet it gave them their first taste of failure.
But Caesar knew this was just the beginning.
As long as there is enough energy, as long as the planets are repaired, and as long as they return to their peak condition, everything on that blue planet will turn to ashes.
"Just wait and see," Caesar murmured to himself, his golden eyes reflecting the distant blue expanse.
"Next time, I won't give you any more chances."
Deep in the forest, the red-haired apes have found the base of the first vanguard.
Hundreds of more agile and muscular apes are on standby. They wear light armor instead of heavy armor and wield smaller weapons.
They are the elite of the tribe, the most skilled in stealth and the best at surprise attacks.
"We have a mission." The red-haired ape looked at them, a sinister smile creeping onto its lips.
"Go to that blue planet and let those humans taste what it's like to be slaughtered."
The vanguard of apes raised their heads simultaneously, their eyes gleaming with bloodlust.
Undercurrents are quietly brewing.
