Ji Zuodao twisted his wrist, and the gun barrel was steadily positioned in front of Lao San.

"You, give Dog Master directions to the grave you touched."

The third brother stared blankly at the big black dog gripping the steering wheel in the driver's seat, then stiffly turned his head to look at Ji Zuodao.

My lips were trembling, my head was buzzing, and I couldn't process this surreal scene at all.

"Bang!"

The butt of the rifle slammed into his forehead with a dull thud.

"Why the hell are you looking at me when I told you to look at Dog King?"

"Give me directions!"

The third brother clutched his suddenly swollen forehead, wincing in pain, tears welling up in his eyes. He quickly turned to Dog Master.

But watching a dog skillfully grip the steering wheel, his tongue seemed to be tied in knots, and he couldn't utter a single syllable for a long time with his mouth open.

"Bang!"

It hit the same spot again.

"What the hell are you staring at, you idiot?! Do you think it has a map on its face?!"

The third child really cried this time, partly from pain and partly from feeling wronged.

He finally understood: this guy just wanted to beat him up, and he made up all sorts of excuses on the spot.

Seeing Ji Zuodao raise his wrist, the butt of the gun about to fall again, the third brother was terrified. Forgetting his shock at the "dog driver," he began to point in the direction, his voice trembling with tears:

"At the next intersection... turn right... then... keep going until you leave the city and take that old dirt road in the western suburbs..."

Ji Zuodao then moved the gun away, and the next second, he aimed it steadily at the bald man in the middle.

"you."

His eyes turned cold.

"You said you encountered a zombie in the tomb. Come on, tell me in detail, what kind was it? How tall was it? What was it wearing? Did it hop or crawl?"

"I...I..."

The bald man felt uneasy under his gaze, his tongue stammering, even more so than the third brother.

"Bang!"

In the same spot, with the same force, the bald man yelled "Aow!" and almost jumped up from his seat.

"I...I really didn't see clearly, sir!"

He had a mournful face and was waving his hands haphazardly.

"It was so dark inside! Then suddenly the fourth brother screamed, and then... then I felt something 'whoosh' past me, it was about... about up to my stomach!"

"I'm not making this up! That thing...that thing doesn't look like a zongzi (sticky rice dumpling). Zongzi aren't that short and slender..."

"Not a zongzi?!"

Before Ji Zuodao could react, Li Shuwen next to him exploded.

His face turned pale instantly, especially when he caught a glimpse of Ji Zuodao slowly shifting his gaze to his face out of the corner of his eye; he nearly jumped out of his skin.

"Holy shit! Don't you dare get me into this!"

Li Shuwen grabbed the bald man by the collar, her voice cracking.

"This morning at the used bookstore, you were spitting as you talked about how there was a giant zombie in the tomb! You'd ripped the fourth brother open! His intestines were spilling all over the ground! I heard it all clearly!"

"I...I just made that up to show off!"

The bald man was almost in tears.

"It was pitch black inside the tomb, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, what could I possibly see! I just heard the fourth brother yell 'Aow!' and then there was silence, and then a dark figure 'whooshed' past, its height... well, it wasn't tall! Really not tall!"

Ji Zuodao's face darkened visibly.

He squinted, slowly turned his head, looked at Li Shuwen beside him whose face was ashen, and a cold, murderous smile appeared on his lips.

"Whose zongzi is this?!"

He spoke slowly and deliberately, his voice so soft it was like a whisper, yet it sent chills down your spine.

"Damn it, only up to the belly button?"

"A dwarf zombie?"

"If I really catch them, am I raising a pet or a joke? Huh?"

The air inside the carriage instantly dropped to freezing point.

Ji Zuodao was unhappy.

very unhappy.

Li Shuwen's calves started to cramp, and his back was instantly soaked with cold sweat. He mentally cursed the bald man's ancestors a thousand times over.

Why are you bragging like that? You're just spouting nonsense! Now you've dragged me down with you!

"Hime... Investigator Hime..."

Li Shuwen's voice trembled as he forced a fawning smile that looked more like a grimace.

"Or...it could just be...a small zombie? Maybe...maybe the person buried here was short? Or...or maybe it was a child buried alive? A mutation?"

"snort."

Ji Zuodao let out a cold snort, withdrew his gaze, and stopped looking at Li Shuwen's pale face.

He leaned back in his chair, casually resting the gun on his lap, his fingertips tapping the cold metal casing intermittently.

Silence returned to the carriage, leaving only the low growl of the engine and the whistling wind outside the window.

But this silence was even more suffocating than the previous blow to the head with a rifle butt.

Several seconds passed before Ji Zuodao slowly spoke, his voice not loud, but clearly penetrating everyone's ears:

"I'm telling you this."

"If today's matter turns out to be pointless for me, a wasted trip, or worse, if I become a laughingstock..."

He paused, his gaze slowly sweeping over the four pale-faced men inside the car, the cold smile on his lips deepening.

"Then every single one of you will be in for a rough time."

"When I'm unhappy..."

"I just like to make fun of people. You'd better discuss who will be the source of that fun."

Li Shuwen's vision went black, and he almost fainted.

The bald eldest brother and the second and third brothers were trembling like leaves, huddled in their seats, wishing they could turn into an invisible mass of air.

Under the intermittent guidance of the third brother, the gray official car drove away from the bustling city and turned onto a bumpy, dusty suburban dirt road.

The roadside was a desolate winter scene, with withered yellow grass lying on the ground and bare tree branches pointing towards the gray sky.

In the distance, the outline of a low hill can be vaguely seen, one of which is the location of the former Wang family mansion.

Now, all that remains is a scorched black expanse and a stark emptiness, completely out of place with its surroundings.

"It's...it's that grove of trees up ahead. Go through it, and there's a half-collapsed earthen slope...the entrance to the tomb is at the bottom of that slope..."

The third brother's voice was barely audible, and his finger trembled as he pointed to a sparse patch of mixed trees in the distance.

Dog barked once to acknowledge the order, then turned the steering wheel, veered off the main road, rolled over the weeds, and headed into the woods.

A few minutes later, the car stopped at the edge of a grove of trees that had been knocked askew by the explosion.

This place is about two or three miles away from the ruins of the Wang family, and you can still feel the effects of that "purification".

There were obvious cracks in the ground, and several old trees were uprooted, exposing the damp soil and gravel underneath.

An inconspicuous, deep cave entrance, half-hidden by landslide debris and rubble, appeared before everyone's eyes like an ugly scar on the earth.

Fresh footprints were scattered near the cave entrance.

Ji Zuodao opened his eyes, pushed open the door, and got out of the car.

Dog also jumped out of the car.

"get off."

Ji Zuodao turned around and spoke into the car.

The three tomb raiders tumbled and scrambled to the ground, their legs weak, and they had to help each other to avoid falling.

Li Shuwen followed, his face pale.

"you."

Ji Zuodao pointed at the bald-headed elder brother.

"I've been inside. What's the structure like inside? How long is the tomb passage? Which direction is the main burial chamber in?"

"I...I said...going inside, there's a collapsed tomb passage, not long, about seven or eight meters..."

"Then there was a fairly large tomb chamber, which was also half collapsed... The fourth brother... The fourth brother died not far from the entrance of the tomb chamber... That's all I know."

"Is there a coffin in the tomb?" Ji Zuodao interrupted him.

"Yes...yes! It's at the very back of the tomb, against the wall!"

"That's what the bald guy said hurriedly."

Ji Zuodao nodded, his gaze sweeping over the three of them, his tone calm:

"Fine, you three are no longer needed. Get lost."

"Okay, okay!"

The bald man felt as if he had been granted a pardon, and his face instantly lit up with wild joy. He staggered and turned to run away.

The second and third sons quickly followed, wishing their parents had given them two more legs.

Li Shuwen watched their hasty retreat with a hint of envy.

He was wondering if he could "roll" away too.

Turning his head, he saw that Ji Zuodao had raised his hand at some point, and the dark muzzle of his gun was steadily pointing at the three figures who had run more than ten meters away.
