The Prodigal Son

After dragging Qin Yu aside, Qin Fumeng told him about the benefits of reactivating Gao Yi.

What Qin Fumeng said was similar to what Song Zhuo and Zhao Luan said.

However, Qin Fumeng put it more bluntly.

After hearing Qin Fumeng's words, Qin Yu suddenly realized what was going on.

But soon, Qin Yu frowned again and lowered his voice, saying, "Is Prime Minister Song worried that His Majesty suspects him?"

Song Zhuo had close relationships with many people in the court.

With the Empress Dowager relinquishing all power, the influence of Chancellor Song Zhuo had indeed become excessive.

"Isn't your brain filled with anything else besides these things?"

Qin Fumeng glared at his grandson, annoyed. "He's already in this state, what is there for His Majesty to suspect? What dynasty doesn't need a balance of power in its court? Didn't the late emperor ensure that officials checked and balanced each other during his reign?"

In the imperial court, there are no eternally loyal ministers, nor are there eternally treacherous ministers.

As the empress, Zhao Luan must learn to manage all kinds of ministers!

These loyal old guys are all getting on in years, while Zhao Luan is still very young.

If she doesn't learn to manage all sorts of ministers now, she'll be led by the nose by those scheming ministers after all these old guys who protect her die.

To put it bluntly, now is indeed the best time to revitalize Gao Yi.

He strongly agreed with Song Zhuo's considerations.

The imperial court is about to launch a large-scale military campaign, and anything could happen.

To put it bluntly, if the imperial court ever needs someone to take the blame, they can push Gao Yi out!

Qin Yu pondered Qin Fumeng's words quietly for a long time before shaking his head and smiling wryly: "You old folks, you really think about a lot of things..."

These old guys are all cunning and scheming!

However, that old fellow Song Zhuo really put a lot of thought into Zhao Luan's future!

No wonder he's the Imperial Tutor!

"nonsense!"

Qin Fumeng glared at him, his eyes wide. "They're all as brainless as you, their graves are overgrown with weeds!"

"Who said I'm stupid?"

Qin Yu retorted with dissatisfaction, "I'm not even asking for credit anymore, I just want to avoid court and not spend all my time by His Majesty's side, am I?"

"That's what you call lazy and cowardly!"

Qin Fumeng launched into a tirade of abuse.

"..."

Qin Yu's face darkened.

You despicable hypocrite!

"Listen to me carefully, stop acting all cocky!"

Qin Fumeng snorted, "If I die one day, the Qin family will have to rely on you to keep it going!"

"Look at what you're saying."

Qin Yu chuckled, "You look as strong as an ox! Even if I die, you might not!"

"Get lost!"

Qin Fumeng kicked him.

The grandfather and grandson chatted idly for a while before returning to Song Zhuo's side.

"How is it?"

As soon as Qin Fumeng arrived, he asked Nan Que'er about Song Zhuo's situation.

Nan Que'er raised her eyes, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping herself.

"Just say it."

Song Zhuo looked at Nan Que'er with a smile, "I am well aware of my own situation."

Nan Que'er hesitated for a moment before slowly speaking, "Prime Minister Song's ailment has been buried for many years. In addition, his dantian was destroyed, making it impossible for him to repair his damaged body with true qi. I can only help him alleviate the pain, but I cannot completely cure him..."

Song Zhuo was not surprised by this result.

Song Zhuo raised his eyes, staring calmly at Nan Que'er, "Then tell me honestly, how much longer do I have to live?"

"this……"

Nan Que'er stammered, unsure how to answer, and could only cast pleading glances at Qin Fumeng and Qin Yu.

"Just say it."

Qin Fumeng sighed softly.

Nan Que'er hesitated for a moment, then slowly said, "If it is properly treated, it will probably take about two years."

"Two years?"

Song Zhuo was pleasantly surprised, "Really?"

He thought he wouldn't even make it through the winter.

"real!"

Nan Que'er nodded seriously.

"Qin Laohu, you heard that, didn't you?"

Song Zhuo looked intently at Qin Fumeng, "Whether I can witness the fall of the Yan Kingdom depends on you!"

"I'll definitely let you see it!"

Qin Fumeng said with utmost solemnity.

"I trust you!"

Song Zhuo nodded and smiled, then instructed Qin Yu and Nan Que'er, "You two go out for a walk first, I need to talk to Old Qin about something!"

"good!"

Qin Yu nodded and led Nan Que'er out of the room.

After they left, Song Zhuo lowered his voice and said to Qin Fumeng, "I'll have a good talk with your grandson later. He can slack off if he wants, but he has to keep his position as the Palace Attendant! I'm not saying he has to go to the palace to serve His Majesty every day, but he still has to go to the palace every two or three days!"

Qin Fumeng's heart skipped a beat, and he lowered his voice to ask, "You also think His Majesty has some feelings for this beast?"

Song Zhuo was Zhao Luan's mentor!

He is the most qualified to speak on this point!

"Anyway, His Majesty definitely doesn't dislike him!"

Song Zhuo smiled meaningfully, "Besides, Gao Yi was given to His Majesty to practice on, and also to him to practice on!"

"What?"

Qin Fumeng's expression changed drastically as he stared at Song Zhuo in disbelief.

He had thought that Song Zhuo was going to use Gao Yi for Zhao Luan to practice on, but he never expected that Gao Yi would also be used for his own wicked beast to practice on.

"Your grandson is young but exceptionally intelligent. With proper guidance, he will surely become a pillar of the nation!"

Song Zhu patted Qin Fumeng's hand, "We're all getting old. The future belongs to these young people! Don't be too strict with Qin Yu. Young people need to be given the chance to make mistakes! If he makes a mistake now, we old folks can still cover for him. But what will happen when we're all gone and he makes a mistake? Who will cover for him then?"

Qin Fumeng quietly pondered Song Zhuo's words, then nodded seriously, "You old fellow really see things clearly!"

"I'm helping myself too."

Song Zhuo smiled and said, "Song Xian is rather mediocre; he might not be able to support the Song family in the future! With Qin Yu around, the Song family has another guarantee, doesn't he?"

He wasn't that selfless, nor was he that great!

Now that he has resigned from his official post, he can use the remaining time to mentor Song Xian.

No one wants their family to decline after they pass away.

Qin Fumeng was surprised, then laughed and scolded, "You old codger, why are you talking like you're giving your last instructions?"

"It was originally just about making arrangements for my funeral."

Song Zhuo smiled with relief, then couldn't help but sigh, "Time waits for no one!"

Qin Fumeng sighed softly, unable to speak for a long time.

Yes!

Those old guys are all getting old!

Even the most capable person cannot escape the erosion of time!

Outside, Qin Yu was wandering around the Song residence with Nan Que'er.

"Does Prime Minister Song really only have two years left?"

Qin Yu asked in a low voice.

"Ideally, there are still about two years left."

Nan Que'er said softly, "If he doesn't take good care of himself, he probably won't even last a year..."

Qin Yu's eyelids twitched. "Is it that serious?"

Before he went to Chenzhou, Song Zhuo seemed to be doing well.

After returning from Chenzhou, Song Zhuo's health seemed to be a bit off.

"His dantian was destroyed, and he suffered from overwork. It's already remarkable that he's managed to hold on until now."

Nan Que'er sighed softly, "His current physical condition is almost like that of an eighty-year-old. It's right for him to resign and recuperate."

Hearing Nan Que'er's words, Qin Yu couldn't help but sigh softly...
