The Prodigal Son

Yunxiu is located in the northeast of Kaizhou.

Pingji is one of the three major border official markets in Daning.

Pingji was also the earliest border official market in Daning.

Pingji was completed during the reign of Emperor Xiaowu.

Originally, Yunxiu was just a medium-sized military fortress on the border between Daning and Min.

Daning and Minguo were already on good terms. With the construction of Pingji, merchants came and went in an endless stream, which led to the rapid development and prosperity of Yunxiu.

Today, Yunxiu has been expanded twice and has become a magnificent city, second only in size to Dongling Prefecture, the capital of Kaizhou.

After a six-and-a-half-day long-distance raid, Qin Yu led the Wudang Flying Cavalry to Yunxiu.

Just as they were about to enter the city, a junior officer led a group of soldiers toward them.

The young general leading the group rode up to the front of Qin Yu's troops and loudly inquired, "May I ask if you are under the command of General Qin Yu, the Right Guard?"

"yes!"

Qin Yu rode forward from the rear, asking, "I am Qin Yu. Who are you?"

"Greetings, General Qin!"

The young general dismounted and saluted Qin Yu, saying, "This humble general is Chang He, the patrol captain of Yunxiu, who has been ordered by Commander Fang to welcome General Qin!"

Qin Yu was slightly surprised. "Commander Fang has already arrived?"

Chang He replied, "Commander Fang arrived in Yunxiu with his personal guards the day before yesterday at noon."

No wonder!

He said that if Fang Junji were to bring his troops, he wouldn't have arrived at Yunxiu so quickly.

It seems Fang Junji is also taking this battle very seriously!

Qin Yu pondered for a moment, then instructed Chang He, "Lead the way!"

"yes!"

Chang He accepted the order and mounted his horse cleanly and efficiently.

Led by Chang He, they quickly entered Yunxiu City.

The turmoil in Min Kingdom did not seem to have a significant impact on Yunxiu. Many merchants could still be seen coming and going on the wide streets. When they saw Qin Yu and his imposing cavalry, the people on the street wisely made way for them.

Chang He glanced back at the imposing Wudang Flying Cavalry, a hint of envy flashing in his eyes. "General Qin, are they the Wudang Flying Cavalry?"

"Um!"

Qin Yu nodded slightly and then introduced Yuan Dingguo to him: "He is Yuan Dingguo, the commander of the Wudang Flying Cavalry."

"General Yuan, it's a pleasure to meet you!"

Chang He immediately greeted Yuan Dingguo.

Yuan Dingguo nodded somewhat aloofly, but remained silent.

Qin Yu looked around and then asked Chang He, "Didn't a rebellion break out in Min? How come Yunxiu doesn't seem to have been affected much?"

"It still has a significant impact."

Chang He replied, "After Yu Wu rebelled and seized power, he closed the border crossing between our dynasty and the Min Kingdom, and stationed 20,000 troops on the border, preventing Min Kingdom merchants from passing through! I've heard that Yu Wu is also moving troops to the border..."

Yu Wu's spies must already know that Da Ning is going to send troops to help Yu Jing attack him.

Several days ago, news began to circulate that the Min Kingdom was increasing its troops.

However, Chang He was of low status and did not know how many troops the Min Kingdom had already amassed on the border.

After Chang He briefly explained the situation, Qin Yu asked, "Has Commander Xue and the others arrived?"

"We've all arrived."

Chang He replied, "The troops drawn from Dingzhou arrived yesterday afternoon."

Qin Yu was surprised.

Have you all arrived?

He thought he had arrived quickly enough, but he never expected to be the last one to arrive.

What's wrong? Are you all so eager to make a name for yourselves?

Do they all think Yu Wu is an easy target?

They chatted along the way and finally arrived at the military camp located in the east of the city.

According to Chang He, this is Yunxiu Old Town.

After Yunxiu completed its first expansion, this place became the main camp of the Yunxiu garrison.

As soon as they arrived at the military camp, people came to greet them and settle the men Qin Yu had brought.

Qin Yu and the others were taken to the general's mansion.

Inside the general's mansion, Fang Junji, Tang Chunlai, and others discussed military matters, and Yu Jing was also present.

Before them was a huge sand table.

It was covered with flags of all sizes.

"Reporting to Commander Fang, Right Guard General Qin Yu and Wudang Flying Cavalry Commander Yuan Dingguo have arrived!"

Fang Junji's personal guard commander hurried in to report.

"bring……"

Fang Junji instinctively wanted to say "bring them in," but after uttering only one word, he suddenly stopped and instead said, "Please come in!"

Qin Yu is not only Qin Fumeng's grandson, but also seems to be His Majesty's favorite minister.

Although he was the commander-in-chief of this battle, he still had to give Qin Yu some face.

Soon, Qin Yu and Yuan Dingguo strode in.

"General Qin, we meet again."

Yu Jing was the first to greet Qin Yu.

"Your Highness, it's been a long time."

Qin Yu gave a brief greeting to Yu Jing, then bowed slightly to Fang Junji and the others, saying, "Greetings, generals!"

Besides Yu Jing, the only other person he knew here was Xue Lie.

I'm too lazy to greet everyone one by one.

"No need for such formalities."

Fang Junji laughed heartily, then briefly introduced the people here to Qin Yu, before saying seriously, "We'll all get to know each other better later! For now, let's continue discussing the advance plan. General Qin and General Yuan, you're new here and don't know the situation yet, so you don't need to express your opinions."

"It's alright, you two discuss it!"

Qin Yu smiled casually, "I'll talk to His Highness the Crown Prince first to find out the situation."

Upon hearing this, Fang Junji immediately turned to Yu Jing for clarification: "What is Your Highness's opinion?"

Yu Jing frowned slightly, then smiled and said, "There's no need to rush. Time is of the essence right now, so let's finalize our advance plan first! If General Qin is indeed eager to understand the situation, I can have my guard commander, Zhou Jishan, explain it to you! He is also very familiar with the current situation."

He was actually quite dissatisfied with the arrangements made by Da Ning.

He originally thought that Zhao Luan would send a famous general from Da Ning to lead the army.

Even if we don't send seasoned generals like Qin Fumeng or Xue Chengdao, we should at least send someone decent to command them.

As it turned out, the relatively unknown Fang Junji was appointed to lead the army.

He was very uneasy about Fang Junji's ability to lead troops.

At a time like this, instead of discussing military matters with Fang Junji and the others, he went to tell Qin Yu about the current situation.

Who says you can't?

Why must the Crown Prince himself speak to Qin Yu?

How big of a face does Qin Yu have?

Qin Yu noticed Yu Jing's reluctance and said seriously, "I've thought a lot on my way here and have some preliminary thoughts on the current war situation. I'd like to have a further discussion with His Highness the Crown Prince."

That son of a bitch!

How insensible!

Does he not have any clear understanding of his current situation?

Seeing Qin Yu's insistence, Yu Jing became even more displeased.

If it weren't for Qin Yu's current status, he would have really wanted to reprimand Qin Yu.

After hesitating for a moment, Yu Jing finally nodded slightly: "In that case, let's go over there and talk!"

Fine, I'll give Qin Fumeng and Zhao Luan some face.

I've heard that Qin Yu is currently very favored, and given my awkward situation, there's no need to cause trouble for him over something like this.

Seeing that Yu Jing agreed, Qin Yu immediately followed Yu Jing to the side.

They didn't leave the room, but simply sat down at a distance from the sand table.

Fang Junji glanced suspiciously in the direction of the two men, then stopped talking and resumed his discussion with the others...
