The Prodigal Son

At night, Qin Yu's troops were harassed by small groups of enemy soldiers on several occasions.

Fortunately, Qin Yu and his men responded in time, and the enemy's harassment did not cause them much damage. Only a few unlucky soldiers were wounded by the enemy's hidden arrows, and they also left the enemy with a few corpses.

However, the enemy's harassment kept them on edge all night, preventing them from having any peace.

Qin Yu barely slept a wink all night, his mind constantly racing with thoughts.

The constant harassment from the enemy made him feel that their opportunity was coming!

Now we'll see what the enemy forces do in Yiling City!

As long as the enemy's large cavalry force moves, they can launch a surprise attack.

However, he also had a vague sense of unease.

As dawn approached, the enemy cavalry still made no move.

If they delay any longer, they might miss the best time to launch a surprise attack.

"Report!"

Just as Qin Yu was secretly worrying, a messenger galloped up on horseback, "Reporting to General Qin, news from the vanguard indicates that a large force of enemy cavalry has left the city, seemingly intending to launch a surprise attack!"

Qin Yu suddenly stood up, excitedly asking, "How many enemy cavalrymen are there?"

The messenger replied, "I'm not entirely sure, but there are at least five or six thousand!"

Only five or six thousand?

If that's really all the men we have, then it's a bit too few!

If the enemy discovers their intentions and places their main cavalry force in the west, they will inevitably be intercepted by the enemy cavalry once they launch a surprise attack.

Even if they successfully penetrate into the enemy's rear, they will probably suffer heavy losses!

Damn it!

That old fox Huang Dengxing doesn't play by the rules; he didn't act exactly as they expected!

This put pressure on Qin Yu.

Should we launch a surprise attack at this moment?

If the enemy is prepared, and even the enemy troops at Black Stone Ridge have secretly laid an ambush, once they get into a tug-of-war with the enemy cavalry, they may be cut off from their retreat or surrounded and annihilated.

Seeing Qin Yu hesitate, Zeng Guan couldn't help but speak up: "What are you afraid of! Our cavalry strength is definitely superior to the enemy's! The enemy has already sent out at least five or six thousand cavalry; at most, they can only send ten or twenty thousand to intercept us!"

"right!"

Yuan Dingguo nodded in agreement, his eyes burning with determination, and said, "This humble general is willing to lead the Wudang Flying Cavalry as the vanguard!"

Xiong Quhu and others also joined in the persuasion.

"General Qin, this is an opportunity not to be missed!"

"General Qin, don't hesitate!"

"Yes! It's almost dawn. Once it's fully light, the enemy will notice the discrepancy in our numbers and become even more suspicious!"

They already knew about Qin Yu's plan.

Now, they have long since forgotten their dissatisfaction with Qin Yu.

They were just as excited as Yuan Dingguo, or even more excited than him.

This is a great opportunity to make a name for yourself!

The situation is unclear, and launching an immediate surprise attack could indeed result in unnecessary losses.

But once they penetrate into the enemy's rear, all of the enemy's deployments will be completely disrupted!

"General Qin, give the order!"

The group surrounded Qin Yu, urging him on anxiously.

Seeing Qin Yu still hesitating, Xiong Quhu hardened his heart and roared, "Are you fucking scared? If you're scared, then get the hell out of here, we'll take matters into our own hands..."

"Shut your bird beak! I don't fall for that kind of provocation!"

Qin Yu suddenly kicked Xiong Quhu to the ground, and his mind was once again in turmoil.

After a moment, Qin Yu made up his mind, and his gaze suddenly became firm.

It's done!

Damn it, fortune favors the bold!

Open the bow without turning back the arrow!

Hesitate and you will lose!

"Yuan Dingguo!"

Qin Yu growled, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

"Your subordinate is here!"

Yuan Dingguo was breathing rapidly, and there seemed to be flames burning in his eyes.

"I hereby order you to lead the Wudang Flying Cavalry as my vanguard and launch a surprise attack on the enemy's rear!"

"General Qin, let me be the vanguard! You will follow..."

"Bullshit! You want to disobey orders?"

"This humble general... obeys!"

"Bear and Tiger!"

"Your subordinate is here!"

"You are hereby ordered to lead your troops and keep a close watch on the enemy forces at Black Stone Ridge! If they attack, even if your entire force is wiped out, you must hold them off to the death!"

"yes!"

Xiong Quhu loudly accepted the order.

Qin Yu took a deep breath, quickly mounted his horse, and roared, "All units, follow the general's flag closely! First, launch a surprise attack towards Yiling, feigning an encirclement of the enemy cavalry. Once the distance is closed, then launch a surprise attack into the gap between Heishiling and Yiling!"

"yes!"

At Qin Yu's command, everyone mounted their horses.

"Attack!"

With a roar, ten thousand cavalrymen sprang into action.

"kill!"

The deafening shouts of battle spread rapidly.

thump thump...

The sound of horses' hooves echoed continuously, and the entire ground seemed to tremble beneath their iron hooves.

As their army began to move, Huang Dengxing quickly received the news.

"Heh, after all these tricks, you can't sit still anymore?"

A slight, contemptuous smile appeared on Huang Dengxing's old face.

He had already realized that all the enemy's left-wing movements were a smokescreen.

The intention was to mislead them and lure them into taking the initiative to fight.

Now, with a little trick, Fang Junji thought he had seized an opportunity!

Unfortunately, I won't give him that chance!

Huang Dengxing chuckled inwardly and immediately ordered, "Order Shen Tu Hong to lead his troops back into the city immediately! No! Order Shen Tu Hong to turn around and circle around the enemy's left flank before retreating. Let him judge the situation himself and avoid getting entangled with the enemy cavalry!"

The enemy wanted to lure them into taking the initiative to fight, but he deliberately refused to do so!

While we're at it, we also need to mock Fang Junji!

If we can provoke Fang Junji and make him give the wrong order in his anger, that would be even better!

As the messenger left, Huang Dengxing slowly exhaled a breath of stale air.

Last night, I was almost distracted by Fang Junji, but luckily I was one step ahead and didn't fall for it!

Now, he could sit on the city wall, drinking wine, and watch how Fang Junji would break the deadlock!

Huang Dengxing was in a great mood, so he picked up the wine jug, poured himself a glass of wine, and leisurely sipped it.

However, he had only drunk two glasses of wine when the messenger's voice rang in his ears again: "Report..."

A messenger rushed in, "General Qi, the enemy's right-wing cavalry has suddenly changed direction and is heading towards Black Stone Ridge!"

"Black Stone Ridge?"

Huang Dengxing suddenly gripped the wine glass in his hand, his face full of confusion.

Qin Yu's cavalry launched a surprise attack towards Black Stone Ridge.

Are you crazy?

Qin Yu even had the audacious idea of consuming the garrison at Black Stone Ridge.

Putting aside whether the terrain around Black Stone Ridge is suitable for large-scale cavalry deployment, did Qin Yu think the troops in Yiling were dead?

Wasn't he afraid that while they were locked in fierce combat, Yiling's troops would rush out and cut them off...?

As he was thinking, Huang Dengxing suddenly felt a pang in his heart, and he abruptly got up and ran to the map.

As he gently traced his finger across the map, he finally realized a serious problem.

Qin Yu's troops didn't need to carry supplies at all!

Their rear was the rear of Qin Yu's troops!

"Not good! Qin Yu is trying to lead his troops to invade our rear!"

Huang Dengxing's expression changed drastically, and he roared murderously, "Order Shen Tu Hong to immediately lead his troops to intercept and kill Qin Yu's cavalry! Order the garrison at the west gate to immediately leave the city and form ranks to block the enemy cavalry!"

At the command, Huang Dengxing was the first to rush out.

At this moment, Huang Dengxing was completely flustered.

He knew perfectly well how vulnerable they were!

Once Qin Yu leads a large force of cavalry into their rear, their rear will be turned upside down!

No!

We must intercept this cavalry force!
