The Prodigal Son

Qin Yu was quite surprised by Yuan Ji's sudden request.

He has a really good eye!

They immediately set their sights on Zhu Songlan!

"Why do you suddenly want vermilion orchids?"

Qin Yu asked, full of curiosity.

"Of course, it's because of his skills!"

Yuan Ji smiled and said, "This man is efficient and conscientious in his work; he is a rare talent in internal affairs! He is also the kind of talent I need most right now!"

"No way?"

Qin Yu stared at Yuan Ji with a half-smile, "With so many people helping you with your affairs now, why are you still focusing on Zhu Songlan?"

Yuan Ji chuckled, "Lord Qin already said that those people are just here for some training! Lord Qin wouldn't give all of them to me, would he? Zhu Songlan is enough for me..."

When Zhu Songlan was mentioned, Yuan Ji started talking non-stop.

He has lived for over forty years and has met quite a few people.

Among them are many reliable and capable individuals.

But this was the first time he had ever seen someone like Zhu Songlan.

This person handles government affairs quickly and efficiently!

He assigned Zhu Songlan the task of assisting his civil servants in handling various tax-related matters.

This task isn't particularly difficult, but it's extremely energy-consuming.

He felt overwhelmed just looking at those messy accounts.

However, Zhu Songlan spent three days sorting out various taxes by category, and put forward a lot of suggestions for optimization and simplification. She also sorted out three years' worth of accounts and found many problems.

Moreover, Zhu Songlan is different from other people.

Once he identifies a problem, he will propose effective solutions for each problem.

Such a person is so easy to use.

In addition, Zhu Songlan also had some expertise in military affairs.

He only looked at the sand table of defenses that Yuan Ji had set up in the official residence, and pointed out several loopholes in the defenses.

Although those loopholes were just his imagination, it was extremely rare that Zhu Songlan could see them...

When talking about Zhu Songlan, Yuan Ji was full of praise.

He has now delegated most of his political affairs to Zhu Songlan.

He only needs to care about the final result.

If he were given Zhu Songlan, he wouldn't have to worry about political affairs at all, and could focus solely on military matters.

Hearing Yuan Ji's words, Qin Yu couldn't help but be surprised.

He had witnessed Zhu Songlan's ability to handle government affairs.

Before being unjustly dismissed from office, Zhu Songlan was already a prefect. He had also spent a long time honing his skills in other places, so handling these government affairs must have been a piece of cake for him.

I never expected that Zhu Songlan would also have military expertise?

After a moment's thought, Qin Yu immediately said to Yuan Ji, "Let's go, let's go take a look at your official residence!"

He wanted to see what kind of defensive vulnerability Zhu Songlan had pointed out.

If Zhu Songlan truly possesses military expertise, then we'll have to find a different way to outlast him!

Soon, Qin Yu and the others followed Yuan Ji to his official residence.

In Yuan Ji's study, a sand table is placed in the very center.

Red and black flags were planted on the sand table.

Red represents Da Ning, and black represents the Yan Kingdom.

"The current defenses have been adjusted based on Zhu Songlan's suggestions."

Yuan Ji pulled down the flag near Wanquan Mountain in the southwest of Panyang. "We didn't put people here before, but Zhu Songlan believes that although this is the defense zone of Qingshan County, there are many merchants coming and going from Qingshan County, and the people are complicated. If enemy spies infiltrate among the merchants, they can threaten our granaries from here."

"And here, if the enemy launches a surprise attack on our flank, the Eastern Camp might be ambushed if they try to reinforce from here. He suggested building a medium-sized fortress here to guard the reinforcement route..."

Yuan Ji told Qin Yu, one by one, the loopholes that Zhu Songlan had discovered.

"It's really good!"

Qin Yu nodded slightly, then looked at Yuan Ji meaningfully: "For General Yuan, these few loopholes are a bit unacceptable! All your arrangements were based on an offensive strategy, weren't they?"

From a defensive perspective, these vulnerabilities are indeed not insignificant.

However, from an offensive perspective, these vulnerabilities should be disregarded.

Most importantly, there are more than 15,000 troops hidden north of Panyang!

If the Yan state were to attack rashly, the hidden army could suddenly strike out, catching the enemy off guard, or even break through the middle and cut off the enemy's retreat and supply lines.

However, this was something Zhu Songlan was unaware of.

"right!"

Yuan Ji nodded, his eyes burning with determination, and said, "This humble general is constantly thinking of invading the Yan Kingdom!"

"It seems that Zhu Songlan does indeed have some military expertise."

Qin Yu thought for a moment and suggested, "It's a bit of a waste of Zhu Songlan's talents to handle the administration of an entire prefecture! Let him be in charge of overseeing all logistical supplies, including provisions and weaponry!"

"this……"

Yuan Ji frowned slightly. "Isn't this a bit too hasty?"

Logistics and supplies are of paramount importance!

Zhu Songlan had never been exposed to these things before, yet she entrusted him with such an important task?

"You could arrange for someone to assist him first!"

Qin Yu smiled, "We can let him assist others for a few days first, and see how things go!"

Yuan Ji thought for a moment, then tentatively asked, "Does this mean Lord Qin has agreed to give Zhu Songlan to this humble general?"

Want to eat fart!

Qin Yu rolled his eyes at him. "To be honest, Zhu Songlan is officially registered with His Majesty!"

"But he has one major flaw: he's overconfident!"

"He thinks no one can handle things as well as he can, he likes to do everything himself, and he doesn't know how to delegate!"

"I brought him here only to toughen him up! To let him know that there are things he's not good at, and to teach him how to delegate!"

"Don't even mention you wanting him; even if I wanted him, His Majesty wouldn't give him to me!"

Hearing Qin Yu's words, Yuan Ji immediately looked disappointed.

Since Qin Yu had already said so much, he couldn't very well ask for more people.

"Alright! Let him help with logistics for now, and we'll see how things go!"

Yuan Ji reluctantly descended from the main camp.

"I'll go too!"

A voice suddenly rang in their ears.

The group was surprised, and their gazes all fell on Lü Si.

Qin Yu stared at Lü Si in disbelief.

Has the sun risen in the west?

Surprisingly, Lü Si took the initiative to ask to learn how to manage logistics.

"What are you looking at?"

Lu Si blushed slightly, but looked at Qin Yu with displeasure, and said stubbornly, "I am now the Empress Dowager's adopted son. I can lose face, but I cannot lose face for the Empress Dowager!"

Zhu Songlan criticized the Empress Dowager in his imperial examination answers and was still highly regarded.

Can't you at least save face for the Empress Dowager?

He wanted to show Zhu Songlan that the Empress Dowager's judgment was correct!

"What a wise awakening!"

Qin Yu patted Lü Si on the shoulder, then turned to Yuan Ji: "General Yuan, congratulations, you've gained another beast of burden under your command!"

"You son of a bitch!"

Lu Si slapped Qin Yu's hand away, but secretly made up his mind.

My adoptive mother is so good to me, I can't let her down!

What Zhu Songlan can do well, I can do well too!
