The Prodigal Son

With Xue Lie's help, Qin Yu immediately felt much more relaxed.

After leaving the rest of the matter to Xue Lie, Qin Yu ate something hastily and went to sleep.

He had been on the move for the past two days, and his mind was constantly on things, so he hadn't had much rest.

Now that Wulin and Linjiang military camps have been captured, their strategic objectives have been achieved, and he can finally enjoy a good night's sleep on the water.

Qin Yu slept exceptionally well that night.

Qin Yu woke up yawning just before Shenshi (3-5 PM).

He had just woken up when Qin Xiong came to report.

The battle results and losses on Yuan Dingguo's side have been tallied.

They suffered over 600 deaths and nearly 800 were forced to withdraw from the battle due to injuries.

They annihilated 5,000 enemies, but because it was dark and they were in a hurry to rush into the city to put out the fire, they only captured less than 3,000.

However, they managed to preserve half of the grain in Ulin City, approximately 60,000 shi (a unit of dry measure).

Xue Lie's forces, numbering nearly 15,000, have successfully crossed the river, with 5,000 of them already stationed in Wulin.

Before nightfall, Xue Lie's troops can all cross the Yi River.

Qin Yu felt much relieved and asked again, "Those surrendered soldiers didn't cause any trouble, did they?"

"No!"

Qin Xiong replied, "General Xue selected five thousand men from the surrendered soldiers to replenish the army, and the rest have been escorted to Guanzhou for safekeeping..."

When Xue Lie and his men's ships came, they transported their people and provisions.

On their return journey, they escorted the surrendered soldiers to Guanzhou.

Before nightfall, all the surrendered soldiers who were not incorporated into the army should be able to be transported to Guanzhou for safekeeping.

Upon hearing Qin Xiong's words, Qin Yu immediately smiled.

No wonder he is the son of the Minister of War.

He took care of everything without even explaining it to himself!

It's so convenient!

I didn't take the blame for nothing!

Qin Yu stretched and quickly walked out of the tent.

At this moment, the cleanup work at the military camp is still ongoing.

However, the main tasks were still undertaken by Xue Lie's men.

The Wudang Flying Army had been on a long-distance raid and had been busy all night; many of them were still resting.

Ah!

Good!

All the tasks have been assigned to others, so there shouldn't be anything for me to do here.

Just as Qin Yu was about to go to Wulin City to take a look, Nan Que'er came over with a bowl of medicine.

"Did you sleep well?"

Nan Que'er asked with a smile.

"You slept well."

Qin Yu stared at the medicinal soup in Nan Que'er's hand. "This isn't for me, is it?"

"Otherwise what?"

Nan Que'er rolled her eyes at him. "Hurry up and drink it, your throat will feel better!"

Qin Yu: "Listen to my voice, I'm fine now."

After a good night's sleep, his throat felt much better.

"Drink it quickly!"

Nan Que'er glared at him. "I spent an hour watching over this medicine as it simmered!"

Got it!

Qin Yu sighed helplessly, then took the bowl of medicine and, enduring the bitter taste, drank the nearly cooled soup in one gulp. He then asked Nan Que'er, "You haven't been resting at all, have you?"

Nan Que'er gently shook her head: "We were busy for a while at first, but then we rested for a bit after General Xue's medical battalion arrived..."

Xue Lie was very well prepared for this war.

More than two hundred doctors from Min County were specially recruited, and five hundred soldiers were assigned to them to form a special military medical battalion.

This not only ensured that their wounded soldiers received timely treatment, but also greatly reduced Nan Que'er's workload.

"Would you like to rest a bit more, or come with me to Wulin City?"

Qin Yu put down the medicine bowl and asked Nan Que'er with a smile.

Nan Que'er smiled charmingly, "Is that even a question?"

"Alright, let's go then!"

Qin Yu laughed and ordered someone to bring the horse over.

Just as he was about to mount his horse, Nan Que'er pouted and said, "I want to ride a horse with you."

Qin Yu was taken aback for a moment, then laughed heartily, "Come on, let me help you onto the horse!"

As he spoke, Qin Yu grabbed Nan Que'er and, amidst the disapproving stares of his personal guards, lifted her onto his horse.

Qin Yu didn't care at all. After helping Nan Que'er onto the horse, he quickly mounted himself and led his personal guards towards Wulin City.

Nan Que'er closed her eyes and nestled in Qin Yu's arms, enjoying this rare and tender moment.

……

"Giddy up, giddy up..."

At this moment, Yan Wujiu was personally leading the Flying Fangs on horseback, rushing to Wulin to provide support.

At their speed, they should be able to reach Ulin by nightfall.

As long as Si Rong and his men hold out until nightfall, those Ning army cavalry will be nothing more than meat on a chopping board!

He wanted to avenge Sima Jin's troops!

The audacious Ning Army must pay the price for their stupidity!

"Report..."

Just as Yan Wujiu was hardening his heart, the scouts he had sent out galloped up on horseback.

Seeing the scout's expression, Yan Wujiu immediately had a bad feeling.

The scout cautiously glanced at Yan Wujiu's expression before reporting, panting heavily, "Your Highness, on our way to Wulin, we encountered the remnants of General Si's troops..."

"The remnants?"

Yan Wujiu's voice suddenly rose eight octaves.

Remnants?

In other words, Si Rong and his team were defeated!

waste!

A bunch of useless trash!

Thirty thousand men couldn't even hold out for a day?

What's the point of the court spending so much money and resources to support them?

Yan Wujiu was furious, his lungs practically bursting with rage. He roared murderously, "Where's Si Rong? Where is that damned piece of trash?"

At that moment, Yan Wujiu felt an urge to kill Si Rong.

They'll be in Wulin in about eighty li!

We're about to wipe out that Ning army!

As it turned out, they couldn't hold on!

Now, not only were they unable to defeat the Ning army, but they also allowed the Ning army to occupy Wulin.

The Ning army can then cross the Yi River and keep coming!

He had been looking forward to a triple celebration, but Ning Jun dealt him a heavy blow that very day.

With a single counterattack, they wiped out more than 11,000 of their soldiers, and left more than 8,000 wounded soldiers who became a burden.

Now, he has personally led the Flying Fang Cavalry to attack, but Si Rong has failed to hold out!

What utter nonsense about three happy events happening at once!

Now, all the joy has become a joke!

Sensing Yan Wujiu's overwhelming rage, the scout shuddered and bowed his head, replying, "We'll rush back to inform the Prince first; General Si will arrive later..."

Si Rong thought that Yu Chan had also fallen, and originally planned to lead his remaining troops to take a long detour to escape to Yanzhou.

After encountering them, they learned that Yan Wujiu had already led the Flying Fang Cavalry to attack, and only then did they abandon their plan to flee to Yanzhou...

"Stop talking!"

Yan Wujiu angrily interrupted the scout, his eyes blazing with fury, and demanded, "How many of Si Rong's remaining troops are left?"

"this……"

The scout stammered, his heart pounding with fear, "Less than... a thousand men."

"What?"

Yan Wujiu completely lost it. His blood rushed to his head, tears welled in his tiger-like eyes, and he roared with grief and rage, "Si Rong! I will surely kill you!"

Thirty thousand men!

Less than a thousand people are left?

If Si Rong isn't killed, his hatred won't be appeased!

Killing Si Rong is not enough to quell the anger of the soldiers!
