Courtyard House: I fish in the heavens, a professional bird abuser.
Chapter 244 Alice rejoins the team, and they break into the church through the window.
Angela was carried down the stairs by Jill.
The little girl was very light, as if she were nothing but bones. Her face was buried in Jill's shoulder, clutching the dirty teddy bear in her hand, and her body was still trembling.
He Yuanchao led the way.
The tactical flashlight from the shotgun illuminated the stairwell brightly, but his attention wasn't on his feet; it was on the system radar.
The gunfight just now was quite loud.
Five zombie dogs, plus six shotgun shells and several pistol bullets—the sound could be heard for hundreds of meters in the quiet night.
On the radar, the number of red markers around the school is slowly increasing.
It went from three to seven.
It went from seven to twelve.
Like sharks that have smelled blood, they are converging on the school from all directions.
There is still time.
But there aren't many left.
He Yuanchao quickened his pace.
The three of them walked through the blood-stained corridor on the first floor—the remains of the five zombie dogs were still scattered on the ground. Jill told Angela to bury her face so she wouldn't see them.
Push open the door.
The school playground remained empty, with moonlight illuminating the overturned trash cans and scattered pieces of paper.
Outside the iron gate, the pickup truck's headlights were still on. Payton, sitting in the back seat, clutching the revolver, visibly relaxed when he saw them emerge.
"Hurry up—"
He Yuanchao had only uttered two words.
It stopped.
His ears twitched.
A new signal appeared on the system radar.
It's not red.
It is green.
and--
It is approaching from the west at an extremely high speed.
Accompanied by the roar of an engine approaching from afar.
That sound wasn't from a car.
It's too sharp, and the rotation speed is too high.
It's a motorcycle.
"Someone's coming." He Yuanchao's hand involuntarily tightened around the shotgun.
That green cursor was moving incredibly fast—at least 120 km/h. In a city filled with ruins and zombies, anyone who could ride a motorcycle that fast was either insane or an expert.
The engine noise grew louder and louder.
It was like a mad beast roaring in the night.
Then he saw it.
A bright light—the headlight of a motorcycle—spurred like a shooting star from the end of the road west of the school.
Extremely fast.
The distance quickly closed.
Three hundred meters.
Two hundred meters.
One hundred meters.
"It's heading towards the school!" Jill instinctively pulled Angela behind her to block her, and Beretta instantly raised her hand to aim at the light.
"Don't shoot." He Yuanchao pressed down on the muzzle of her gun.
He saw it clearly.
The motorcycle was a heavy-duty cruiser, a Harley. The chrome exhaust pipes reflected a cold light in the moonlight.
The person riding on it was wearing a tight-fitting black combat suit, and his hair was blown by the wind like a flag.
Golden hair.
He Yuanchao's lips unconsciously curled into a smile.
coming.
The Harley did not stop in front of the iron gate.
It didn't even slow down.
The rider twisted the throttle to the floor, lifted the front wheel slightly, and at an insanely extreme angle, crashed directly into the half-shattered stained glass window at the edge of the playground!
"Clang—!!!"
The sound of shattering glass echoed through the night.
The Harley, weighing over a thousand kilograms, crashed through the floor-to-ceiling window and flew into the music classroom on the first floor of the school.
Tables and chairs were knocked to the ground and scattered everywhere.
The piano was pushed three meters away.
The motorcycle made a neat side slide in the classroom, the rear wheel leaving an arc-shaped black tire mark on the tiled floor, and came to a steady stop with a squeak.
The rider jumped off the bike.
Clean and efficient.
It landed silently.
Then she raised her hand—in which was a silver Beretta.
Looking through the shattered window frame, He Yuanchao could clearly see her face.
That face he had seen in the hive, in the bathroom, and fought alongside on the train.
Alice.
However, she is now completely different from the bewildered woman wrapped in a bath towel in the Hive who had lost her memory.
Her eyes were as sharp as a drawn dagger.
Her body exuded an extremely sharp fighting aura, a quality unique to those awakened by the T-virus.
He Yuanchao was all too familiar with that aura.
It's very similar to the murderous aura he exudes.
However, hers is more fierce and more primal.
Alice stood in the messy classroom, the smoke from the gun still lingering, and broken glass crunching at her feet.
Through the shattered window frame, she saw the man standing on the playground outside.
Eyes facing each other.
He Yuanchao saw the fleeting surprise in her eyes.
It was quickly replaced by something more complex—something that seemed to say, "How did you get here?" and something that seemed to say, "I knew you would be here."
"Your entrance is still as extravagant as ever," He Yuanchao said.
Alice climbed out the window.
Her movements were incredibly agile—she braced herself against the window frame with one hand, and leaped out as lightly as a black leopard, landing steadily on the playground.
Standing in front of He Yuanchao.
She was about half a head shorter than him.
But its momentum was in no way inferior.
"Your entrance was quite unique." Alice's lips curled slightly, a gesture of greeting. "Bringing a carload of the elderly, the infirm, and the disabled to a zombie apocalypse to pick up kids?"
"And you?" He Yuanchao retorted, "You rode your motorcycle hundreds of kilometers away just to smash someone's window?"
"I've had enough of the Umbrella's labs." Alice touched her arm—which bore several fresh needle marks. "They stuck a dozen needles into me. They wanted to turn me into one of those big guys."
"And the result?"
"So I dismantled the lab and rode off on their most expensive motorcycle."
He Yuanchao couldn't help but laugh.
This woman.
They really are the same kind of people.
Jill stood to the side, her gun lowered, but the wariness in her eyes remained undiminished.
"Do you know her?"
"I know her." He Yuanchao pointed to Alice. "An old colleague from the Hive. The kind of friendship we had—killing monsters together in that place, riding the same deadly train, and almost being eaten by the same giant worm."
Alice glanced at Jill, then at the little girl curled up in Jill's arms.
"Angela?"
He Yuanchao nodded.
Alice's expression softened slightly—but only for a moment, before returning to its usual coldness.
"Ashford's daughter. I found her information in the Umbrella Corporation's database."
"You also know her value?" He Yuanchao raised an eyebrow.
"A natural carrier of T-virus antibodies," Alice stated directly. "If we could extract the antibody components from her blood, theoretically we could create a universal antidote against all T-virus variants."
Jill instinctively tightened her grip on Angela.
This reaction did not escape He Yuanchao's notice.
He nodded at Jill, the meaning was clear—don't worry, no one will hurt this child.
"Let's go. We can't stay here any longer." He Yuanchao turned and walked towards the iron gate.
The number of red cursors on the system radar has increased from twelve to more than twenty.
The zombies are closing in.
The closest one is less than forty meters away.
"Your car?" Alice glanced at the pickup truck outside the iron fence.
"It can seat five people. Where's your motorcycle?"
"I threw it away. The tank was almost empty."
He Yuanchao squeezed through the gap in the gate and opened the driver's side door of the pickup truck.
"Everyone get on the bus. Squeeze in."
Jill picked up Angela and got into the back seat. Payton made room for them and huddled in a corner.
Alice opened the passenger door.
When she sat down, He Yuanchao noticed that she was still clutching the Beretta in her right hand, her knuckles white.
It's not nervousness.
It's excitement.
This woman's body is just like his—it's most relaxed during battle.
He Yuanchao turned the key.
The engine roared to life.
The pickup truck backed out of the school gate, its tires crunching over gravel and debris on the road. The headlights swept across the street ahead—three zombies were staggering towards them from the intersection.
He Yuanchao did not slow down.
The front of the car crashed directly into it.
"Bang—Clang!"
Both were knocked away.
The third one got caught under the car.
The pickup truck jolted slightly, then continued rushing forward.
Behind me came the sounds of bones cracking and tires crushing.
He Yuanchao's expression remained unchanged.
He stepped on the gas and increased the speed to seventy.
"Where to?" Alice asked.
"Let's find a safe place to stop first. There are a few things I need to explain."
He Yuanchao glanced at her.
"Welcome back, Alice."
Alice did not answer.
But the corners of her mouth curled up slightly.
That was the first genuine smile she showed in this dead city.
