Back in the room.

Just as He Ning'an was about to give some instructions to her younger siblings, the door was pushed open from the outside.

Yu Lian rushed in, and as soon as she entered, she carefully examined the children's heads to check for any injuries.

"Mom? What's wrong?"

Yu Lian looked up, her expression serious: "Don't save people casually in the future."

He Ning'an understood immediately.

"But didn't you say you wanted to be a kind person?"

"Of course I want to be a kind person, but Mom's point is that I must ensure my own safety first, and I'm not allowed to go into the water carelessly anymore."

"Okay, I understand."

Yu Lian looked at her husband helplessly.

He Lin nodded slightly and took his son away.

"Mom, where did my brother go?"

"Dad will talk to him for a bit. How about we go hiking tomorrow?"

"good!"

After two days at the hotel, the lively and active children were already restless.

There happens to be a famous snow-capped mountain near the hotel, so even in summer, you can enjoy stunning scenery.

"Oh, by the way, I'll take you out for dinner tonight, Aunt Jasmine is treating."

"Hmm? Aunt Jasmine is here too?"

Yu Lian knew nothing about her itinerary. Jasmine was always free and would leave whenever she wanted.

It was only when Jasmine contacted her that Yu Lian learned of her location from company employees.

She was recently on vacation in Country F, which is right next door and not far by car, so she and her friends drove over.

Yu Lian glanced at the time; the other person should be arriving soon.

"Okay, would you like to change your clothes?"

Several children shook their heads and waved their hands simultaneously, their eyes glued to the television, seemingly engrossed in a crucial moment, each one completely absorbed and unwilling to look away.

Since Yu Lian had nothing to do, she sat down and watched with the children.

A few minutes later, He Lin returned with An An.

Yu Lian looked up at the doorway, her brows furrowing slightly.

Looking at the two almost identical faces, she felt utterly powerless.

He looked more like me when he was little, but now, in terms of appearance, temperament, and personality, he looks more and more like He Lin.

"Mom, my brother is so scary."

He Ningxi quietly climbed up to her mother's side and whispered.

Why?

"Because when my brother gets fierce, he's exactly like my dad."

Yu Lian smiled bitterly, looking at the father and son sitting down not far away, and reluctantly accepted the fact.

"An'an, come here."

He immediately put down the book he was holding and walked over to Yu Lian. Yu Lian pulled him to sit down.

Did your father scold you?

He shook his head.

Did what I said make you uncomfortable?

He shook his head again.

"What bad thing happened?"

He nodded.

"Can I tell Mom?"

"Can we go back now? I don't want to stay here anymore."

These words immediately drew opposition from his younger siblings.

"Why? Just tell me the reason. Is it simply that you don't want to stay anymore, or is there another reason? Tell me, don't just answer when Mom asks a question..."

Yu Lian quickly raised her hand to stop her husband from speaking. If he continued, she was afraid that the child would throw a tantrum.

"I just don't want to stay here anymore."

"Okay, Mom will contact your Aunt Jasmine right now. She should be able to help. Just wait."

Yu Lian had just stood up when her daughter pulled her back.

"Are we really leaving, Mom? I haven't had enough fun yet."

Yu Lian gently patted her daughter's head: "Don't worry, your brother will leave, but you won't."

He thought everyone would be satisfied with this arrangement, but He Ning'an disagreed.

"No, everyone go back. Especially He Ningxi, she's not allowed to play anymore."

He Ningxi didn't understand what was wrong with her older brother today, and said aggrievedly, "But older brother, I've finished all my homework, why can't I play? School hasn't started yet."

Seeing that the brother and sister were about to start arguing, Yu Lian quickly pulled them apart.

The couple took their child to the opposite room, wanting to talk to him alone.

He Ning'an, however, was pondering in his heart: how to leave without being discovered.

"He Ning'an, tell the truth."

He Lin stared at his son, and for the first time, he felt a pang of regret.

"Don't look at me like that. I've already said I don't want to stay here anymore."

Yu Lian was caught in the middle, unsure how to quell the conflict between the two.

"Alright, alright, He Lin, you go over there and watch the child. I'll talk to An An."

He Lin left reluctantly. Only after the door closed did He Ning'an relax a little.

Looking at her son, who was now a head taller than her, Yu Lian couldn't help but sigh at how quickly time had passed.

"An'an, can you tell Mommy?" Yu Lian looked at him expectantly.

When He Ning'an faced Yu Lian, his tone softened noticeably.

"Mom, it's not safe here, we have to go back."

Yu Lian nodded, thinking that her son must have seen or heard something, and coupled with his deliberate targeting of her sister just now, she immediately thought of what Ms. Samuel had said.

"Did you see Mr. Pixar and Ms. Celine while we were away?"

His mother's keen observation left him momentarily unsure whether to answer.

"Did you hear what they said? Did they think they would leave their younger siblings behind and not let them come home with us?"

After a long silence, Yu Lian finally heard her son softly say "Mmm".

"You're not telling because you're afraid Mom and Dad can't fight them? How silly. Don't do that again. Mom promises you, the whole family will come home together the day after tomorrow."

Yu Lian tried her best to keep her tone calm, so as not to let her son know that she was already burning with anger.

Saying such things in front of a child is really going too far.

"Go, stay with your younger siblings and call your father over."

"Um."

A short while later, He Lin returned.

"What exactly is the reason for this brat's actions?"

Before getting down to business, Yu Lian gave him a stern lecture.

"He Lin, if you keep going back on your word with the child like this, I'm not done with you."

He Lin didn't dare to argue, but weakly felt it was a bit unfair: "Wife, aren't you being a little too biased? Am I more important, or the child?"

Yu Lian hesitated. He Lin understood instantly.

"Alright, I understand. I'll try my best to restrain myself in the future. I wonder who this child takes after."

"Pfft—"

He Lin's words made Yu Lian burst out laughing.

"Of course it's up to you. Think about it, haven't you always treated everyone like this?"

The past was a taboo subject for He Lin, since he hadn't given Yu Lian a kind look back then, and he was afraid his wife would bring up old grievances and hold it against him.

"Alright, alright, didn't we say we had something important to discuss? Let's get down to business."

Yu Lian told He Lin what had just happened with a serious expression.

Because she was so worried about the child, she went straight to the room as soon as she got out of the car and didn't have time to tell He Lin about the child's situation.

Now he knows both things.

"What do you think?" He Lin asked first.

"Don't push forward with the cooperation for now. As for my attitude, I'll talk to you about it after our trip tomorrow."

Yu Lian remembered Ms. Samuel's instructions and suppressed her discomfort.

In the past, she would have definitely confronted them directly, but some things don't have only one solution.

As Ms. Samuel said: If things really come to a head, with her there, nothing bad will happen.
