As soon as I opened my eyes in the morning, a tense scene unfolded at the entrance of the Yu family's house.

The incident itself was terrifying, but what was baffling was their sudden arrival and departure. This face-to-face, confrontational period didn't last long. Whether it was due to the passage of time or the increased traffic in the alley, something must have been something they feared.

Just as Yu Jinbu was looking completely bewildered, the "rescue team" that Yu Xin had called arrived at her doorstep.

"Hello, is this Uncle? I work for the municipal government. I just received a call from your family. Where are those people right now?"

Yu Jinbu looked apologetic and explained, "I'm so sorry, they had already left before you arrived, taking another exit."

"I see... Uncle, why don't you go home and rest for a while? I'll take my colleagues to your neighborhood office to find out what's going on. If it can be resolved, I'll do it for you today."

Hearing the government staff's strong assurance, Yu Jinbu finally felt relieved and repeatedly expressed his gratitude.

After seeing the young men off, Yu Jinbu returned home and told his mother and daughter what had just happened.

No sooner had she finished speaking than another group of people appeared at the door. Yu Jinbu assumed it was the same group of thugs from before, and immediately grabbed a shovel and headed for the door. Wang Meixia didn't have time to stop him.

Upon opening the door, Yu Jinbu regretted it.

The newcomer was taller and stronger than the previous thugs, and looked even more menacing. Although he had been a trained fighter in his youth, taking on multiple opponents now was clearly not a wise choice.

Before he could close the door, the man stretched out a strong, powerful arm and blocked it.

"Uncle, are you alright?"

The question left Yu Jinbu completely bewildered—this person spoke so gently, and their appearance was completely different. Moreover, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recall ever knowing such a person.

Wang Meixia, who was behind him, tentatively asked, "Excuse me, who are you?"

The man in the lead immediately explained the reason.

"We were contacted by Boss Yu. She said we just needed to call home. Did you answer?"

Before she could finish speaking, the phone rang in the main room. Yu Xin quickly ran in to answer it.

A moment later, Yu Xin came out of the main house and said to her parents, "Mom and Dad, my sister said that we should pack our luggage for two or three days and go to a hotel. We'll leave the house to them for the next couple of days."

Yu Xin pointed to the five or six burly men standing at the door. Upon closer inspection, it was clear that these men were carrying steel pipes of different sizes in their hands and sleeves.

"Uncle and Aunt, please pack your things quickly. To ensure your safety, we will stay at home these next two days. Boss Yu specifically instructed us to do so."

Although Yu Lian was only guessing—that these people would not give up if they did not achieve their goal—she still picked a few clever and capable people from the company to fill in just in case.

While the three were packing their luggage, someone unexpected appeared.

As I packed my bags and prepared to leave, I heard a familiar voice outside the door. I went out to check, and sure enough, it was Zhuo Heng.

"Don't worry about staying out these next couple of days, leave the house to me."

After saying that, Zhuo Heng said to Yu Xin's back, "Uncle and Aunt, leave things here to me. You can take Youyou out and treat it as a few days of travel. The car is waiting at the alley entrance, and I've arranged accommodations. You can just go directly there."

Yu Jinbu looked at his former son-in-law with mixed feelings. He never imagined that the person he valued most would hide such a huge secret, which had not only harmed him but also ruined his daughter's happiness for the rest of her life.

Although the two were divorced, Yu Xin did not prevent Youyou from seeing her father. Upon seeing her father, little Youyou eagerly reached out her hand.

Zhuo Heng reached out and took his daughter, holding her and talking to her for a while. He carried the group all the way to the alley entrance, and finally reluctantly handed his daughter back to Yu Xin.

He then instructed the driver, "Drive slowly. You'll be waiting outside the hotel for the next couple of days."

The driver agreed, then started the car and drove away.

Zhuo Heng returned to the alley, where the brothers he had brought earlier had already gone inside and found places to sit and rest.

"Brother Zhuo, when exactly are those guys arriving?"

Zhuo Heng wasn't entirely sure either. He knew that if Yu Lian hadn't been temporarily unable to find anyone, this matter wouldn't have been entrusted to him.

"Just keep watch for the next couple of days and wait for the investigation results before making any further plans. These guys are probably not easy to deal with. Everyone take turns on night shifts and be careful. Don't let anything go wrong for me."

"Don't worry, Brother Zhuo. You've seen it for yourself when we brothers travel all over the country transporting goods; we've never had any problems."

Zhuo Heng nodded in agreement—that was precisely why he had transferred the group over.

On the other side, the neighborhood office.

After understanding the general situation, Xiao Liu from the government immediately issued a firm order to the street office. Moreover, they had already investigated the origins of the house before arriving.

This house was originally mortgaged to the government by Jiang Dongguo's ancestors. Later, because a member of the Yu family performed meritorious service, it was directly given to the Yu family, and they were left with the deed. Even so, the house still belongs to the Yu family.

The head of the subdistrict office saw that the two sides had different stories, but in the end he withstood the pressure—after all, they were also working for the government, so of course they would listen to whoever had the higher rank.

"I understand. I'll reject his request right away. Don't worry, sir. Once this is settled, I'll call your unit first."

Xiao Liu nodded and left with his men.

No sooner had he left than Director Zhang from the neighborhood office called him about the matter, though he didn't say anything explicitly.

Jiang Dongguo felt something was amiss—he had clearly spent a lot of money to get the relevant certificates, so how come everything was going smoothly, but suddenly the street office changed its attitude?

"Director Zhang, you've seen the certificate the relevant authorities gave me. How can you say it's not true just like that?"

Director Zhang stated bluntly, "Don't be foolish and try to take advantage of us. Our leaders have already investigated. This house was mortgaged to the government by your family decades ago. In principle, it has nothing to do with you anymore. If you really want the house, go buy it from the family you're currently with. We can't help you with that anymore. Let's leave it at that. Please don't cause any more trouble at the neighborhood office. We have jobs to do too."

After saying that, Director Zhang hung up the phone. He had no idea how furious Jiang Dongguo was upon hearing his words.

With a thud, the receiver fell to the ground.

A man with a similar face standing next to him said in a foreign language, "What do we do now? We offered a high price, but they didn't agree. Are we going to offer an even higher price? We don't have that much money on hand."

Jiang Dongguo snorted coldly: "If you won't listen to reason, you'll have to suffer the consequences."

The man quickly advised, "This isn't our territory. Let's avoid conflict if possible. Since they won't give it to us, let's sneak in when no one's around."

"At this point, this is the only way."
