Holden stood on the wooden steps, not in a hurry to turn hostile, but simply raised his hand to pat the dust off his sleeves.

Those Chinese laborers were still being held down in the mud, their trouser legs completely wet and their shoes covered in mud.

The teenage girl huddled to the side, her shoulders trembling, her face pale.

Ah Kun knelt in the middle of the yard, half of his face was swollen, blood was hanging from the corner of his mouth, and he could barely open his eyelids.

But when he saw Chen Zheng come in, he actually smiled.

"Boss Chen, look at the mess this has made. I'm just a gofer, and my service wasn't up to par. I'm sorry for making you laugh."

An armed man next to him kicked him in the waist. Ah Kun groaned and almost fell into the mud, muttering something under his breath.

"Kick me gently, I need this back to make a living!"

Holden seemed amused and waved his hand down.

"Drag her over there and keep asking."

The two armed men dragged Ah Kun to a wooden stake and punched him several more times in the stomach and back.

Ah Kun was in so much pain that sweat beaded on his forehead, but he kept repeating the same few sentences over and over again.

"I'm just someone who gets paid to solicit customers."

"Boss Chen is staying at the hotel, and I'll show him the way to earn a little money through my hard work."

"I really don't know anything else!"

Du Kun stood to the side, still wearing that same smiling expression.

"Mr. Holden, Ah Kun is a loose tongue, but he's not a bad person at heart."

"He just likes to joke around sometimes, but he doesn't necessarily have any great skills."

This sounds like an attempt to smooth things over, but the more you listen, the more creepy it becomes.

If Holden actually believes it, Ah Kun will continue to get beaten up.

Holden didn't believe it, and Ah Kun was going to get beaten up even more.

Ah Kun looked up, his eyes almost slits, but he still managed to smile at Du Kun.

"Boss Du, you're really good at praising people."

Another shot came down with the butt of the rifle, and this time he behaved himself.

Chen Zheng stood still, his face expressionless, but his gaze slowly swept around the courtyard.

There was a black file box at Du Kun's feet.

Before Holden could speak, Duquesne's eyes would first glance at the box before looking at Holden.

This shows that the two people are not entirely of one mind.

At least Duqueskin still has something that Holden can take seriously.

At this moment, Holden slowly looked at Chen Zheng.

"Mr. Chen, I'm so glad you came."

Chen Zheng smiled slightly.

"Since you're already here, we can't let you wait in vain."

Holden slowly walked down the steps and stopped a few steps away from Chen Zheng.

"I was supposed to inspect the goods tonight, but I've changed my mind."

Chen Zheng shrugged: "Tell me about it."

Holden raised his hand and pointed to the group of people in the mud.

"Tonight, let's not look at the goods, let's look at their sincerity first."

"I need to transfer these men to the downstream outpost overnight."

"Since Mr. Chen says he has connections and knows the rules, then I'll personally accompany him."

"No problem on the road, we'll discuss big business again tomorrow morning."

The air in the courtyard suddenly felt a bit tighter.

This is testing him with human lives.

An Ran lowered her eyes, and her breathing slowed down slightly.

She looked at the Chinese laborers and girls in the mud and felt a pang of heartache.

Upon hearing this, Chen Zheng's expression turned somewhat disdainful.

"Mr. Holden, I'm in business, not charity."

"I'm interested in any business that can make money."

"I need to think about the dirty work that might damage my reputation first."

Du Kun responded with a smile.

"Boss Chen has seen it all; what he said makes sense."

Holden suddenly laughed as well.

"Since Boss Chen knows the rules so well, then it's even simpler."

"Why don't you personally escort this trip tonight?"

"If you really have the guts, let's talk about cooperation again tomorrow morning."

No sooner had the words left her mouth than the little girl in the mud suddenly struggled and cried out, "Help!"

The sound wasn't loud, but it made everyone in the courtyard tense.

The two armed men who were closest instinctively raised their guns and pointed them at the group of people.

An Ran's eyes suddenly turned cold, her right index finger trembled, and her shoulders and back tensed instantly, almost drawing her gun.

Just then, a teacup flew out with a bang.

The cup flew in a straight line from the corner of the table and smashed solidly into the face of an armed man.

Snapped.

The armed man staggered a couple of steps after being hit, covering his face and about to start cursing, but Chen Zheng cursed first, "Are you fucking made of corns?"

"You raise your gun at the slightest shout from a little girl."

"Are you taking someone hostage, or are you going to kill a chicken for me to see?"

In an instant, everyone's attention shifted to the unfortunate armed man and Chen Zheng.

An Ran lowered her eyes, forcibly suppressing the impulse in her heart, and slowly loosened her fingers from the gun handle.

Holden stared at Chen Zheng, lost in thought.

Du Kun stopped laughing and stood quietly to the side, waiting for the final result.

After a moment, Holden suddenly burst out laughing.

"it is good."

"Looks like I didn't misjudge him."

After saying that, he changed the subject and put forward another condition.

"However, one more rule needs to be added."

"You are only allowed to go on this escort mission alone."

"Miss Lin, please stay."

An Ran's expression subtly changed.

Du Kun chuckled at the opportune moment.

"Don't worry, Mr. Chen, as long as the cooperation goes smoothly, Miss Lin won't be mistreated in the village."

Chen Zheng was silent for a moment, then looked up and said, "Okay."

"It's fine for people to stay here."

"But since you've taken my assistant hostage, I get to choose the route and time for his transport."

"I don't like being led by the nose."

Holden looked at him, his face expressionless.

"Can."

"But I'd also like to remind you of something."

"If you try anything funny, Miss Lin won't be the first to die."

As he spoke, he pointed to the several people who were tied up in the mud.

"It's them."

Upon hearing this, An Ran's fingernails almost dug into her palms.

Chen Zheng nodded, his expression remaining unchanged.

"Understood."

Holden turned and walked into the wooden building.

"Get the car ready for Boss Chen; we'll be going down the mountain in an hour."

After giving his instructions, Du Kunchong smiled and looked at An Ran.

"Miss Lin, I'm afraid you'll have to stay in the village tonight."

An Ran also tried her best to keep her expression calm and said, "As long as my boss is still alive tomorrow morning, that's fine."

Upon hearing this, Du Kun smiled and nodded.

"Miss Lin is quite sensible."

The people in the courtyard began to move.

Some people dragged the Chinese laborers to the shed on the side, some people prepared the car, and some people picked up Ah Kun.

Ah Kun was in so much pain as he was being carried away that he managed to squeeze out a sentence at Chen Zheng.

"Boss Chen, this deal you negotiated was really exciting. Next time you come to me, the price won't be the same."

Chen Zheng glanced at him, feeling a touch of respect for the man, and said in a low voice, "Let's talk about it next time if we can survive."

Ah Kun chuckled, as if he wanted to laugh, but then winced in pain halfway through.

Time flies.

Once the car was ready, Chen Zheng was led outside.

Anran stood to the side as they walked up the wooden steps.

She didn't call him.

He didn't turn around.

As they brushed past each other, Chen Zheng simply uttered a single sentence.

"Everything depends on you."

An Ran's heart skipped a beat, but she didn't respond, only nodding.
