Regulus of Hogwarts: Lord of the Stars
Chapter 583 Sirius's Great Adventure
Chapter 584 Sirius's Great Adventure
The sky was very high, and a clear, bright blue.
Sirius made a sharp turn, the wind blowing his hair all the way back, his mouth wide open, and he was still accelerating with his hands.
He then performed a downward swooping motion, increasing his speed until he was almost touching the ground before suddenly pulling up. The broom's tail swept across the canopy of a tree, sending leaves flying everywhere, green fragments swirling in the air behind him.
After being pulled up, it did a somersault, the broom spun halfway in the air, it hung upside down for a moment and then flipped back up, letting out a yell, purely because it was fun.
Then it started to accelerate again.
He single-handedly caused chaos in the area several kilometers above Godric Valley, his howling echoing throughout the entire village.
After the Potters opened up, he flew almost every day, from morning till night, for a whole summer, and he still felt it wasn't enough.
Sometimes Sirius would fly with James, but James would run off to do something else after a while. Sirius didn't mind; he preferred to fly alone, without having to worry about how fast or high others flew. He could fly however he wanted.
Mr. Potter's attitude towards them remained the same: go fly, just don't crash and die.
Sometimes Mrs. Potter would look up from the yard and watch them somersaulting in the sky, sigh, and turn back into the house.
Flying higher, you can see the entire Godric Valley.
The village is small, with stone-paved roads radiating outwards from the central square. Old stone houses are crammed together, and gardens are separated by low fences.
Outside the village are fields and bushes, and further on are rolling low hills with a clear sky above them.
The sun was shining brightly at the end of August. From this height, the whole village was bathed in gold, with wisps of smoke rising from the chimneys on the rooftops and small patches of color in the gardens.
He flew over every road in this village.
The Potters' roof stood out against the greenery on the edge of the oak grove to the east.
The monument in the square looks like a small gray square from the sky. The cemetery is on the edge of the village. From this angle, the church spire looks like an upright finger.
A few people were walking on the stone path: an old man in a gray robe, a young witch leading a child, and a dog lying in the sun at the garden entrance.
These were all normal things, the daily routine of the people living in this village, until he saw something that wasn't quite normal.
On the edge of the village, near that deserted wasteland, a figure appeared, wearing a black cloak with its hood pulled down, making it impossible to see.
face.
The walking speed is not fast, and it doesn't seem like they are going somewhere; they are just walking without a destination.
Sirius's eyes narrowed slightly.
A black cloak, a hood covering his face, strolling along the edge of Godric Valley—the image reminded him of what he'd read in the newspapers.
The atmosphere in the wizarding world is becoming increasingly tense. The Daily Prophet is filled with reports of attacks on homes every few days, skulls with snakes coiled inside them appearing in the sky, and more people going missing.
The Death Eaters' activities are becoming increasingly rampant. Wearing black robes and hoods is their standard attire. The newspapers haven't published any pictures of them yet, but he just knows it. Any far-sighted, righteous, vigilant, courageous, and capable wizard knows it.
He looked around in the air, but James had flown off somewhere. He had just been circling over the woods to the east, but then disappeared around a corner. He was probably chasing after someone's golden thief toy that had flown out of their garden.
He decided to go and see for himself.
The broom pressed down, rapidly decreasing in height until it landed below the tree canopy, trailing far behind the black figure, before it began casting spells on itself.
First, a Vanishing Charm, then a Disappearing Charm. A semi-transparent light floats on the surface of the body, blurring the outline, but a human shape can still be seen upon close inspection. When the sunlight shines on it, it looks like a large, moving mosaic. Then, an Odor Elimination Charm is added.
With the three incantations stacked together, I felt quite respectable.
He crouched in the bushes behind an oak tree, peering through the gaps in the leaves at the dark figure ahead, his wand gripping tightly in his hand.
The man walked slowly and steadily out of the village, the brim of his hood swaying slightly in the wind.
You can't tell someone's age from their back; the cloak is wrapped tightly around them, and you can only see the bottom edge of their boots touching the ground.
Sirius followed from behind the bushes, keeping a distance of fifty or sixty meters, crouching low, moving from one tree to another, from one clump of bushes to another.
He kept his center of gravity low, landing on his heels first when walking, trying to avoid stepping on dry branches and fallen leaves.
These skills aren't in textbooks; they're practical experience he's gained over three years of sneaking out of the Gryffindor Tower with James to hide from Filch.
The black figure passed the last few houses, and the road ahead turned into a dirt road without paved stones, with the grass growing taller and taller.
Sirius felt his heart racing, his breathing becoming shallow, and a surge of tension, excitement, and a sense of justice welling up inside him.
I'm already rehearsing my lines in my head: I'll rush up and use my wand to poke that guy in the lower back.
Don't move! Throw away your wand! Put your hands behind your head! Who are you? Why are you lurking around Godric's Hollow?
Then he would take this person to the Potters' house, and Charles would definitely look at him with a complicated expression, saying he was reckless, but with approval in his eyes.
If James found out, he'd probably jump up and yell, "Why didn't you call me?"
He was so engrossed in following that his gaze was fixed on the black figure in front of him that he didn't notice that the person was always keeping a safe following distance for him.
Regulus twitched the corner of his mouth under his hood.
In my mind, I could clearly see the location and movement trajectory of the magical signal behind me.
You can tell he was trying very hard to hide it, but his skill level was really limited.
The Disappearance Charm is actually alright, and the Scent Removal Charm is also decent, but the Disappearance Charm isn't even half-finished. The outline glows, but the glow is very uneven, sometimes bright and sometimes dark.
In other words, he didn't look back. If he had looked back even once, he wouldn't know how to pretend he didn't see it.
However, Sirius Black is indeed making progress by knowing how to apply a few spells and then follow up. Against an average wizard, this set of spells could at least hold him off for a while.
But for him, this level was clearly not enough; he could sense footsteps, breathing, and heartbeats even from dozens of meters away.
Received.
Not to mention that Sirius's magical signal was fluctuating violently every moment, which meant that his emotional state was very direct at the moment. He had his eye on a guy who was suspected to be a dark wizard, and there was probably only one thought in his mind.
Regulus could guess what he was thinking.
We caught the dark wizard! We've done a great job! I can brag about it to James when we get back.
He has a strong sense of justice and is very proactive, but he basically has no follow-up plans.
What if the person opposite him really is a dark wizard, and an experienced one at that?
Is he going to defeat his enemy with a single blow, relying on his near-Hogwarts level of magic? Or is he hoping the other party will obediently follow him?
This guy is still so energetic and healthy.
As for magic, I can only say there has been some improvement.
But compared to Regulus's own progress, Sirius's progress can be considered a step backward.
And his brain.
We need to urge them on.
Regulus continued walking towards the edge of the village. The stone path ended, revealing an unpaved wasteland overgrown with grass.
It was very tall, with a few crooked trees standing scattered about, and a thicket of bushes in the distance.
Further out, there are only the outlines of low hills, no more houses or gardens, it's remote enough.
He pulled his wand from his cloak, held it in front of him, and began to gesture.
The tip of the staff trailed a dark ray of light, drawing an arc in the air, then an unknown symbol. After a pause, it added an even more complex twisted pattern.
Then the tip of the staff suddenly flicked forward, and a black and green spell shot out, hitting the trunk of a tree in front. The bark charred from the point of impact, the edges curled up, and green smoke rose from it.
He flicked his wand again, striking the ground, and the grass burned from the center into a withered yellow circle. The grass blades inside the circle curled up and turned black, emitting a burnt smell.
He drew several more symbols in the air, the light at the tip of the staff flickering, sometimes green, sometimes dark red, the traces left in the air overlapping and intersecting, looking more and more like some mysterious and dangerous ritual.
In my perception, the magical signal behind me was stirring restlessly.
Sirius's magic, which he could no longer conceal, began to overflow. He was gathering power, preparing to attack. His heartbeat quickened, and his breathing changed from shallow to heavy nasal breathing.
Regulus could even picture Sirius grinning at him, his grey eyes wide and his mouth stretched to the sides.
Reckless, without a plan, impulsive, thinking he could do it all, he followed a mysterious black wizard to the wasteland without even calling for backup. His concealment magic was full of holes, and now he couldn't even hide his magic power anymore. In this state, he was still preparing to make a move.
Sirius's illusion spell shattered as the magic leaked out, and his body changed from translucent back to solid.
But none of that mattered; he was already prepared to attack.
He emerged from behind the last layer of bushes, his gray eyes fixed on the black figure in front of him, wand in hand, tip pointed at the person's back, less than twenty meters away.
In his understanding, at this distance, the spell's hit rate was almost 100%.
The other person had their back to him, caught off guard, and the hood of their cloak covered their back, making it a perfect position for a sneak attack.
He took a deep breath, gathered his strength in his wrist, and swung it forward with a sudden motion.
A bright red beam shot out from the tip of the staff, a disarming spell with considerable force.
Sirius Black's face broke into a triumphant smile, his mouth stretched to its widest point, his gray eyes gleaming, and his mind was already racing with ideas on how to brag to James.
In Godric's Hollow, a sneaky dark wizard, possibly a Death Eater, was spotted, followed, and dealt with by Potter himself, who was wandering near the Potter's house.
The red light flew towards the dark figure ahead, then the figure vanished, and Sirius's smile froze on his face.
o
His disarming spell hit the air, the red beam passing through the spot where the black figure had been standing and striking the trunk of a crooked tree in the distance. The red light dented the tree's surface, sending bark fragments flying to both sides.
That person vanished into thin air.
At the same instant, a hard object pressed against his side, precisely at an angle and with great force, digging into the lower part of his ribs.
His body was still in the position of swinging his wand forward, his arm outstretched, his muscles stiff. At that moment, his mind was blank, without any thoughts, only the sensation of the hard object on his side amplified.
Before he could make any move, everything went black, and he knew nothing more.
The wand slipped from his hand and fell onto the grass. He looked as if his bones had been removed, his knees buckled and he fell forward, face down, crashing into the grass. His limbs were outstretched, his black hair was scattered among the blades of grass, his eyes were closed and his mouth was slightly open.
Regulus put away his wand and looked down at Sirius on the ground.
My chest was rising and falling steadily, my breathing was even, I was sleeping soundly, my whole body was relaxed, my arms and legs were naturally limp, even my fingers were relaxed.
Regulus stared at him for a moment, then his lips twitched slightly.
