Regulus of Hogwarts: Lord of the Stars

Chapter 587 Sirius Black's Handover Ceremony

The Potters' house is small, with stone walls and a red tiled roof, in the same style as other old houses in Godric's Hollow.

Upon entering, the hallway in the entrance hall was not wide, and several old photos hung on the wall, some animated and some not, showing wizards and Muggles mixed together.

There was a Muggle landscape painting hanging on the wall at the corner of the corridor; the frame was very old.

A broom and a pair of Quidditch knee pads were piled up in the corner of the corridor. The shoes on the shoe rack were not arranged neatly. A pair of large men's shoes were lying in the middle, with two smaller pairs squeezed next to them, their toes pointing in different directions.

The living room wasn't large, but it was well-lit, with the windows open and the white curtains fluttering gently in the breeze.

Several photo frames sat on the fireplace, including one of James grinning foolishly in a frame, clutching a golden snitch, his hair sticking up in all directions as if it had been blown up.

The sofa was old, the cushions were worn shiny, and a folded thin blanket was draped over the side.

On the coffee table was a plate of uneaten cookies, and next to it was an empty teacup.

It's a completely different world from Grimoire Place.

Outside the window, you can see the garden fence and the low hills in the distance. Sunlight streams in through the window, making the whole living room warm and cozy, filled with an atmosphere of freedom and warmth, very much like home.

No wonder Sirius likes this place.

Euphemia Porter came out from the direction of the kitchen. She was short, with gray hair and a round face. When she saw Regulus, she smiled, and her whole face lit up. "Oh, Regulus, please have a seat."

She turned around and took a tray from the cabinet next to her, on which were a teapot and a few cups, and then casually took a plate of snacks from the kitchen counter.

As she passed Sirius, she casually touched his head, ruffling his black hair as if it were her own child.

Sirius looked a little embarrassed by Regulus's treatment, shrank back, and glanced at Regulus out of the corner of his eye.

Regulus glanced at it, sat down on the sofa, took the teacup Euphemia offered, and thanked her.

"Mr. Potter, Mrs. Potter, thank you for taking care of Sirius all summer."

"You're welcome," Charles said gently, waving his hand as he sat on the opposite sofa. "Sirius is an easy child to raise."

Euphemia sat down next to Charles and nodded with a smile.

Regulus turned his head and looked Sirius up and down, from head to toe.

"It's well cared for."

Sirius's face immediately fell, his eyebrows furrowed, and he bared his teeth and glared at Regulus.

This doesn't sound like a nice thing to say, but I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong with it. *Sour face*

Euphemia chuckled beside her, "You certainly ate a lot."

Charles added with a laugh, "He chased the bush spirits in the garden for three days, and after that, the flower spirits hid from him."

A hint of resentment flashed in Sirius's eyes: "That bush spirit provoked me first!"

He leaned back on the sofa, crossed his arms, and his gray eyes swept back and forth between the two adults and a guy who looked like an adult: "Besides, I didn't eat that much—"

Euphemia glanced at him with a smile, then turned to Regulus and said, "He ate three plates of shepherd's pie for dinner last night, and after he finished, he asked if there was any dessert."

"That's because—that pie was really good—I—" Sirius stared wide-eyed, and after a long pause, blurted out, "You three are in cahoots, aren't you?"

Euphemia patted his head affectionately: "It's good that you can eat. How about chicken legs for dinner tonight?"

Sirius pouted and shook his head, but couldn't dodge it. He snorted and turned his head to look out the window.

Regulus's lips curled up slightly, and he held his teacup without saying another word.

This scene is heartwarming; Sirius is truly being well taken care of.

Meanwhile, he was thinking about other things. From the moment he entered, his senses scanned the house and its surroundings several times.

The magic in the room was clean, with no abnormal magical fluctuations, no residual traces of spellcasting, and no patterns left by concealment methods.

It was just an ordinary British wizarding family home. The magical traces on the house were nothing more than some small spells for daily use, such as insulation, cleaning, and lighting. It was no different from a Muggle's little house.

He knew the house had been hidden before, but there were no traces of it; the Potter family was indeed skilled at concealment.

Moreover, he had been sitting with Sirius in the wasteland for so long, and Charles had been watching from the sidelines without Sirius noticing him at all.

After chatting about everyday things for a while, the topic naturally turned to what had happened some time ago.

Regulus, holding his teacup, casually remarked, "A while ago, my family wanted to check on Sirius's situation, but they couldn't find this place."

Charles paused for a moment, looked at Sirius, then at Regulus, and said in a gentle tone, "Yes, we did make some preparations at the time."

Regulus waited a moment, but received no further response.

"I understand," Charles knew what he was asking, but he wasn't going to talk about it.

The topic changed, and he didn't press the matter.

Regulus glanced at Sirius, whose ears were perked up. The boy probably didn't know someone had come to see him, or perhaps he did; Charles might have noticed someone was spying around the house and, if he felt it was necessary, would have told him.

Whether Charles himself knew the true origin of the Invisibility Cloak is hard to say.

The legend of the three brothers is seen by most wizards as just a bedtime story for children, and few people believe it.

The Potter family has passed down the clothes for hundreds of years, and not every generation may remember their connection to Peverell and the Deathly Hallows.

In Charles's eyes, this was probably an heirloom invisibility cloak, and he knew that its effects far exceeded those of ordinary items, and that it should be protected and passed down.

Because Sirius didn't know the true origin of the garment.

He and James Potter had been wandering around the castle without sleeping for a long time with the invisibility cloak. Given their close relationship, where they could even share a bed, James Potter would definitely tell Sirius Black about anything in the house that was worth bragging about.

But Sirius Black never mentioned the Deathly Hallows to anyone, so James Potter didn't know either.

James Porter didn't know, and Charles probably didn't tell him either.

If Charles knew that the garment was a Deathly Hallow, he wouldn't have kept it from anyone but his own son.

So Charles may not have known that the invisibility cloak that the Potter family had kept for hundreds of years was the same one from the Deathly Hallows.

That last sentence wasn't exactly a test, but Charles's attitude was quite clear.

Regulus may be the only wizard on this planet who knows the location of the three holy artifacts.

The Elder Wand was in Dumbledore's possession, the Resurrection Stone was on the Gauntlet's ring and was thrown into the ruins of the Gauntlet by Voldemort, and the Invisibility Cloak was in the Potter's house.

However, they all belong to someone else, so it won't be easy to get them in a short time.

The easiest thing to mess with is the Potter family's invisibility cloak, but you can't just steal it, much less rob it.

Dumbledore probably knew that the Potters' invisibility cloak was a Deathly Hallows artifact, and that alone made it impossible for him to reach for it.

But there are other good ideas.

The symbol of the Deathly Hallows is Grindelwald's emblem, and also the emblem of the Malay Party.

Grindelwald spent his life pursuing the Deathly Hallows; he possessed the Elder Wand and then lost it, but the Vigilantes still exist, and they still believe in these things to this day.

If someone leaks clues about the invisibility cloak to them, they will definitely take action.

In their view, the Invisibility Cloak was no different from something wild in the Potter family. They couldn't steal the Elder Wand from Dumbledore, but with the Potter family, it wasn't a matter of whether they could or couldn't, but whether they wanted to, and they certainly did.

As for which is heavier, Sirius Black or the Invisibility Cloak, it's definitely the Invisibility Cloak. It's one of the three Deathly Hallows, something that can fool Death, and its value is immeasurable. But the Potters took good care of Sirius Black, and he was well cared for over the summer. He ate well, slept well, and played well. They'll be supporting him in the future.

Forget it, let's not touch this.

Regulus took a Gringotts key out of his pocket, glanced at it in his palm, and then handed it to Charles in a fairly formal manner.

"Mr. Potter, this is my personal matter and has nothing to do with the Black family."

Charles looked at the key in his hand, but didn't take it. He then looked up at Regulus's face.

Regulus handed the key forward: "Sirius will use this for his daily expenses while he lives here."

She glanced at Sirius, then turned back, her tone relaxed: "After all, taking care of such a big guy isn't cheap."

Charles glanced at Sirius again.

Many people know about the Black family tapestries, and the removal from the list is nothing new to the Black family, nor to other pure-blood wizards in England.

Sirius Black said he wasn't going home, which is one thing; Regulus coming to hand over the reins himself is another.

Sirius Black hasn't been removed from the list yet, but that's only a matter of time.

Once someone from the Black family is expelled, they're expelled. There's no follow-up; once they're kicked out, they're kicked out. So this is something Regulus is doing as his brother, and it has nothing to do with the Black family. Charles took the key and weighed it in his palm.

A Gringotts key is nothing special. The Potters have a treasury and are not short of money. They could easily support ten more Sirius Blacks, twenty would be no problem, and thirty would be well-fed.

But the key was given to Regulus, a thirteen-year-old boy who, as the younger brother, was arranging his older brother's future.

He put the keys in his pocket.

Sirius turned his head away from this side, his body stiffened, his shoulders hunched, his chin tucked in, and his eyes fixed on a certain direction outside the window.

Charles nodded to Regulus, his tone formal: "Alright, he's here, don't worry."

Regulus nodded, then looked at Sirius.

If he was unhappy in Grimmauld Place, he would resort to silent resistance: a cold face, silence, and slamming doors.

At the Potters' house, he acted completely differently, like he was whining to his parents.

That's a bit pretentious.

Regulus tilted his head, looking at the back of the head: "Who is this Miss Black?"

Sirius bristled, whirling around with his grey eyes wide like bells: "Who are you talking about!" Charles stood beside him, smiling gently and kindly.

Euphemia burst out laughing, her shoulders shaking, and she put one hand on Charles's shoulder.

The atmosphere dissipated, and the heavy feeling from before was dispelled.

Sirius glared at Regulus, puffed out his cheeks, snorted loudly through his nose, and turned his face back away.

The light outside the window reached midday, and Euphemia got up and went to the kitchen, saying she was going to prepare lunch.

Charles looked at Regulus: "Want to stay for a meal?"

Sirius perked up his ears again.

Regulus shook his head: "No, I have other things to do."

He stood up, straightened his clothes, and walked towards the door. The Potters came out to see him off, and Sirius followed behind, dawdling.

Regulus stood in the doorway, turned around, and the Potters stepped aside. Sirius walked over awkwardly.

Regulus began glancing at him, looking at the top of his head, then at his shoulder.

He's over 1.75 meters tall now, taller than Sirius. Sirius's expression turned resentful again.

Regulus reached out and patted him on the shoulder, patting him hard enough to make Sirius wince and his shoulder sag.

"Don't be a picky eater, eat more meat, more eggs, and drink more milk."

Sirius glared at him, baring his teeth.

"Come sit at the Slytherin table when school starts, I'll treat you to some sausages."

"you--"

"Have you previewed next semester's courses? Don't just focus on flying all the time."

Sirius Black's mouth was agape, but he was unable to speak.

Euphemia reached out and tugged at Regulus's hand, patting it gently. Her tone was sincere and tender: "Come anytime."

Regulus nodded. "I will, Mrs. Potter."

Sirius's expression relaxed a little, but he quickly regained it.

A magical force was rapidly descending from the sky, flamboyant, unrestrained, and weak. James Potter flew down on his broomstick, probably having finished his flight and heading home for dinner.

Regulus didn't look in that direction, but nodded slightly to the Potters and gave Sirius one last look.

"Great progress, keep it up."

The air twisted, and the person was gone.

James jumped off the broom and landed in the small garden by the door.

His parents stood at the door, and Sirius also stood at the door, the three of them looking at an empty spot in front of them.

Someone just left; they came out of his house.

He ignored them, shoved the broom on the ground, and shouted, "What are we having for lunch?"

Sirius turned and glared at James.

All they know is eating.
