The aliens who were picked up by Superman at the beginning
Chapter 284 Bizarre Adventure
"WTF?!"
This time it was Li Zhen's turn to swear.
Once the prison gates closed and the aliens' footsteps faded into the distance, a dark shadow emerged from the pile of scrap metal and swiftly moved to the entrance of the newly opened prison.
Then he saw the faces of the three newcomers clearly.
Although she was already shocked when she heard the sound, Lee Jung still felt a sense of absurdity when she saw it with her own eyes.
How did these three end up together?
Shouldn't Jason have pulled out a gun and shot a hole in the Joker's head the moment they met?
And the most damn thing is, this isn't Earth at all!
Perhaps the lighting inside the cell was too dim, because none of them noticed the big, dumb guy who had been drugged and passed out in the cell where Shazam was being held when they passed by earlier.
Jason still wore the red helmet, and around his neck was a collar identical to Shazam's. He was looking down, seemingly lost in thought.
Wilson, the dry cleaner who was said to be at risk of becoming Darkseid's alter ego at any moment, was huddled in a corner, trembling.
There seemed to be a limit to the number of people in the same cell, so the clown was locked up in a separate cell next door, sitting on the bed with his shoulders hunched and his long, slender legs crossed. He was humming a nasty little tune while surveying the cell's interior.
"What a joke! The prison conditions provided by the aliens are much better than Arkham Asylum. When I get back, I'm definitely going to write a letter of recommendation to the warden and Batman."
Jason, looking somewhat dejected, raised his head and patted the wall with his hand.
"You'd better actually have a plan for the future, and not just think about taking a trip to another planet!"
The clown chuckled softly.
"Don't rush, young man. Finding someone takes inspiration. Besides, those rude guys just now scared me. I need to calm down."
Li Zhen, who had originally planned to rush out and talk to the group, stopped in her tracks.
Based on the conversation between the Joker and Jason, Li Zhen's mind quickly deduced an outrageous piece of information.
"You mean, Batman's in this godforsaken place too?"
"ah!!"
Before Jason and Wilson could react to Li Zhen's familiar voice, the clown jumped up and yelled.
"A ghost! A ghost! Damn it, there's a nasty alien ghost here! Let me out right now!" Jason reacted a beat too late, staring blankly at the surroundings.
Wilson, who should have been terrified by the aliens, was stunned for a moment before his face lit up with ecstasy.
As a precaution, Li Zhen did not completely leave the shadow dimension. Instead, she waited until Rachel transferred the shadow into Jason's room before peeking half of her head out from beside the pillow.
This startled Wilson, who was wandering around the room trying to find Li Zhen. He bumped his head on a metal fixture in the corner of the room, which was probably used for personal hygiene, and a big bump swelled up.
Jason stared at Li Zhen's half-head for a while, and after confirming that it was not a hallucination, he chuckled helplessly.
"You're here too? Is this a coincidence? Or...?"
"Isn't that the question I should be asking?"
Li Zhen responded irritably.
"Don't tell me that while you were chasing each other in Gotham, you just happened to stumble upon some ancient portal and then whooshed across countless light-years to get here."
After asking the previous question, Li Zhen also gestured with her eyes to the wall behind Jason, which was the room where the Joker was being held.
Jason briefly described the whole story.
Basically, Jason went through a lot of trouble to finally find clues and track down the Joker and Wilson. But to Jason's surprise, Wilson was not in the state he had expected, being held hostage by the Joker and subjected to terrible treatment.
Quite the opposite.
This unusual combination of two people is more like shooting an old-fashioned American road movie.
Of course, this did not sway Jason's judgment, and he was still about to pull out his gun and crack the Joker's skull without saying a word.
But Wilson, contrary to his usual behavior, stood in front of Jason.
Jason doesn't tolerate it; he just won't kill indiscriminately, it's not like he has a good temper.
He holstered his gun and gave Wilson a good beating, planning to knock out the incompetent dry cleaner owner before settling scores with the Joker.
Even through the helmet, Li Zhen could imagine Jason's expression, as if he'd just eaten shit.
"A bizarre scene unfolded: the clown suddenly lunged forward and shielded the dying Wilson, warning me not to hurt his friend again."
Jason swore that was the closest he had ever come to killing the Joker.
That nauseatingly pale face that had haunted his mind countless times since his resurrection, during those splitting headaches.
Completely unsuspecting, she lay right in front of him, arms outstretched, sprawled on Wilson's body. Theoretically, Jason could have simply drawn his pistol, aimed it at the Joker's forehead, and pulled the trigger.
This feud, spanning years and even different universes, will be resolved cleanly and decisively.
Li Zhen could only say she was lucky that only half of her head was showing, otherwise Jason and the others would have seen her jaw agape, unable to close because she was so wide open in the shadow dimension.
However, Rachel kindly reached out a hand and helped him close his chin.
Although we don't know how much pain and struggle went through, Jason's final choice was obvious.
All three of them, Gou Ba, are alive.
In a typical plot development, at that point, one of the three people should have died.
The Joker's death is a traditional plot point, Wilson's death is an art film, and Jason being killed by the two of them working together should be a prequel to Batman 2.0, a story of deep grudges and bitterness.
But all three survived.
They even formed a team.
This is a bizarre development that the Vitrumians have never seen even when they invaded thousands of planets.
Jason took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He was just one cigarette away from elevating the complexity of his emotions.
"Wilson later told me that he was with the Joker in an attempt to find the missing Batman."
The clown next door stopped yelling and even proudly chimed in.
"I told you, only I can find Batman, only me!!!"
Li Zhen neither confirmed nor denied this point.
In the comics, this green-haired, white-faced ghost does indeed have a certain fated bond with Batman, which is incredibly mysterious.
"And then you found a spaceship?"
"No, to be honest, there aren't many places on Earth that can produce this kind of spaceship right now, so it would be very difficult to seize it by force."
Jason raised his hand and touched the collar around his neck.
"That guy assured me that if I followed him, I'd definitely find Batman, and then we stumbled into a Batcave that was ranked rather low..."
A clown's dissatisfied shouts came from next door.
"What do you mean by 'ranked low'? Only I know about that place. Bat and I often meet there in secret! Do you understand what a secret meeting is?!" Jason took another deep breath.
This time, it seems like my blood pressure has gone up.
"He said he would rely on his intuition and understanding to find Batman, so we followed him into the Batcave and found a Green Lantern ring in a hidden, high-security box."
The three examined the green lantern ring, while the Joker made wild guesses and spread rumors that Batman was behind Green Lantern's long-term disappearance on Earth.
Just as Jason was about to lose his composure, the Green Light Ring suddenly emitted a strange alarm.
"It's been sporadic, saying something about headquarters facing an unprecedented crisis and needing support."
Then, the Green Lantern Ring instantly created a protective shield, enveloping the three of them and forcibly carrying them away from the Batcave, flying them off Earth.
It flew all the way to this area and stopped in the dark void. After floating for a while, it was intercepted and captured by this inexplicable, darting war fortress.
"It's ready!"
Li Zhen finally emerged halfway out of the shadow dimension and raised her hand to interrupt the unfortunate Jason.
"That's enough for the story; I've got the main point covered."
Li Zhen held out her hand to Jason. "Give me that green light ring, and then we can head straight back to Earth."
