36. Cliff of Repentance
Golden Ape Valley has become a place of bustling activity that shouldn't belong to it.
Following the bloodhound, the black bear was also taken to the valley to reflect on its actions.
The two ferocious beasts were already harboring resentment, and they couldn't stand each other. Even just a glance out of the corner of their eyes and a breath from their nostrils could ignite a palpable tension in the air, as if they were about to explode at any moment.
"Have you guys figured this out yet? If you have, then get out of here. I can't even sleep peacefully now," the Golden Ape King said impatiently as he walked out of the cave.
It is inherently warlike.
Standing in this tense atmosphere, my heart was pounding like it was on fire, my palms were itching and sweating, and my whole body was burning with an intense desire to have a good fight.
But this is its home.
If a real fight breaks out, the Golden Ape King himself might be fine, but this valley would probably be torn to pieces.
"You barbarian, have you figured it out yet?" Unable to resist the urge, the Golden Ape King viciously punched the black bear's fat buttocks.
"You!" After being hit so hard, the black bear felt as if his buttocks had been flattened and stuffed into his waist. He turned his head and glared angrily at the Golden Ape King.
But just as its anger rose, it suddenly remembered that the Golden Ape King had been appointed by the Candle to guard it.
To resist now is tantamount to provoking the candle.
So its anger was quickly released, turning into a long string of smelly farts.
"You've already called me a barbarian, what else can I possibly understand?"
"I still can't understand why Candle put me in this valley." Its voice was muffled, with an indescribable sense of grievance.
"If a dog makes a mistake, it should stand in the corner and reflect on its actions... As for me? I just got into a fight, and it didn't even start yet."
The black bear became more and more aggrieved as it spoke.
Its enormous body lay motionless on the ground, like a small black mountain that had been drained of its strength.
"How come you can get the same martial arts techniques as a monkey?" Bloodhound bared his teeth, glaring fiercely at the black bear.
"You haven't made many mistakes, but look at what the old monkey has been doing all day!"
"I was asleep and didn't see anything. What did the monkey do?" The black bear rested its head on the rock, feeling sleepy again.
Monsters, especially bears like this.
Sleeping, eating, and gaining weight are ways of cultivating oneself that are rooted in its nature.
If it weren't for the pent-up frustration he felt after being in the mountain and water cave, he probably wouldn't have been so diligent in using "Thunder God's Bone Forging" to temper himself.
It hurts, and it takes a lot of effort.
I'd rather just take a nap.
As the black bear began to snore, the Golden Ape King slapped it hard on the head.
You don't know how useless someone is until you meet them. Now that we've spent a few days together, I realize just how useless they are!
It's a complete manure-producing machine!
"Look closely now, here's what I'm doing!" In order to get rid of it as soon as possible, the Golden Ape King took advantage of the fact that the sun had not yet set, leaped up to the top of the valley, and opened his arms to the remaining afterglow.
Unfortunately, it was noon, the time when yang energy is at its peak.
The Golden Ape King's muscles were taut, and his demonic power was pushed to its limit. Even as the last rays of the setting sun sank into the mountains and the moon rose into the night sky, he could barely absorb a meager wisp of the sun's essence.
So frail that it seemed as if a single breath could blow it away.
"What did you do?" The black bear looked expectantly for a long time, but saw nothing and was filled with disappointment.
"Eat!" The Golden Ape King used the power of thunder to protect the wisp of sunlight, and without saying a word, he shoved it hard into the black bear's nostrils.
In an instant, it felt as if the black bear had inhaled a mouthful of chili powder; the scorching heat and numbing sensation rushed straight to the top of its head with each breath.
His eyes were wide open, and his limbs were twitching. He almost rolled his eyes on the spot.
"you!"
"What do you mean, 'what do you mean, 'I'?! Hurry up and use this thing to temper your body!'" the Golden Ape King roared.
"I!"
"Is this something a bear can withstand?!"
The black bear sneezed wildly, simultaneously gathering all its strength to desperately suppress the lightning and flames raging around its nose.
Thunder is easy to dispel, but that ball of flame, even when overwhelmed by my surging blood energy, cannot be extinguished.
There was even a faint sense that the flames were about to burst into bloom.
"What the hell is this thing!" The black bear kept rubbing its nose with its front paws, almost drawing blood.
"Nisei."
"I'm using this right now, striking my whole body."
The Golden Ape King stared at the black bear, watching it writhe and roll on the ground in a sorry state, as if he saw his own past self in it.
"That's insane," Bloodhound exclaimed upon seeing the black bear's miserable state.
"Don't gloat. Once you're fully awakened, Candle will definitely not let you off the hook." The Golden Ape King snorted and sized up the Bloodhound.
"Can't you say something nice? What do you mean I've become intelligent?" the bloodhound retorted defiantly. "I'm much smarter than you!"
"Ha, you're so smart, so smart you almost got tricked into becoming a watchdog by humans!" The Golden Ape King looked at the Bloodhound with disdain. "I could tell that humans had bad intentions, yet you believed me."
"I--!"
He was severely beaten, his spine was almost broken, and he was taken to the valley to recuperate and reflect on his actions over the past few days.
Bloodhound's resentment towards Red Serpent had long since dissipated, but he simply refused to admit it.
"It's all that snake's fault..." Bloodhound himself felt very unsure of himself as he said this.
It rolled its eyes, cautiously scanning the surroundings, and only after finding no trace of the red snake did it mutter under its breath, "If it had used this power sooner, none of this trouble in Zhongshan would have happened."
"What are you two chattering about?" the black bear asked, approaching them.
Its dark nose was covered in bloodstains, and fresh blood kept flowing down. Every breath it took felt like it was inhaling flames.
"Old monkey, you use this thing to hit your whole body every day, that's really perverted."
"This little bit of sun essence isn't even enough for me to punch myself. Look at the pathetic state you are in now!" The Golden Ape King's words were full of disdain.
"The candle absorbs the essence of the sun continuously every day at noon and 9 am, the two times when the sun is at its highest."
"Look at yourself, all you do is eat and sleep all day. What's the difference between you and being dead? Mountain Lord and Prison Wolf, both of them ate the medium. If the three of us don't work hard now, we might not even be able to beat one of them together in the future!"
"The candle technique is too extreme; I can't learn it." Unless he's in a state of explosive anger, the black bear is still quite afraid of pain. "Is there a gentler way?"
"Gentle my foot!" The Golden Ape King slapped the black bear on the head. "Starting tomorrow, if you're still sleeping during the day, I'll break one of your legs!"
"I'll break one leg a day, and when you're all gone, I'll tear off your flesh and eat it!"
"You!" The black bear suddenly looked up and met the fierce gaze of the Golden Ape King.
She's just relying on the candle to back her up; she really doesn't think much of herself...
The black bear bared its menacing fangs, its sharp claws digging deep into the soil.
Just as tensions were about to rise, a beam of light, both gold and silver, shone into the valley.
The moment the red snake appeared, the black bear immediately retreated, not content with just its rear end touching the cliff face, it stood up, its back pressed tightly against the uneven rocks.
Xiong's heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was about to leap out of his chest.
"Golden Ape's method is good. If he sleeps again tomorrow, we'll break his legs." The enormous red serpent plunged off the cliff and landed at the bottom of the valley.
"Hmph—" The Golden Ape King glanced at the black bear, exhaling disdainful steam from his nostrils.
"What's the matter?" The bloodhound didn't look much better either. The moment it saw the red snake, it instinctively lowered its entire body.
"Do you know how the underground water system of Zhongshan is distributed?"
The giant snake asked solemnly.
