Chapter 69 Excitement
Chapter 71 Excitement
Lord Qinghu followed the Red Serpent all the way back to the Mountain and Water Cave.
The giant snake followed him, and when they reached the Luo River, it did not utter a word before disappearing into the water.
The moment it entered the water, it no longer restricted the snake's body; terrifying heat burst forth, instantly evaporating a large cloud of water vapor.
The mountain king was puzzled and let the scorching water mist drift over his body.
It stood alone on the shore, lost in thought.
It couldn't understand what the white fox and the giant snake had been communicating about.
one day.
Two days.
The green tiger stood like a stone sculpture on the banks of the Luo River.
Suddenly, as if remembering something, the tiger's body trembled, and it shook off its wet fur.
It has always preferred dry conditions and disliked rainy days.
"Candle." Qinghu called softly towards Luoshui.
As soon as he finished speaking, waves surged on the water.
The giant snake burst from the water, and water slowly trickled down its eyes.
"Although the rain is light, the humans from Xia An and Chun Hua are still in the mountains revising the landscape map, and the ground is slippery, making it inconvenient for them to walk," Qing Hu said, sharing his thoughts.
The large snake flicked its tongue.
Their eyes met.
Qinghu's apricot-yellow pupils were clear and pure, without a trace of impurity. They revealed a kind of liveliness and simplicity that could only be cultivated by someone who grew up deep in the mountains.
It had expected the blue tiger to say something comforting.
But now that I think about it, this idea is to speculate about the demons living in the mountains from a human perspective.
Even though they have broken free of their shackles, the mountain lords are still creatures of Zhongshan.
For them, birth, aging, sickness, and death are nothing more than the most ordinary things.
Such things happen every moment in Zhongshan.
"Mountain Lord, is there anything you want to ask me?" The serpent's thoughts stirred slightly, and an invisible wave emanated from the horns on its head.
The dark clouds in the sky quietly dissipated, revealing the original azure sky.
Sunlight streamed down, illuminating the Luo River, which had long flowed eastward.
"What are you and the white fox talking about?" Qinghu asked.
"He didn't say anything."
"It's just that the white fox is getting old and dying, and I think the child will be very lonely if it is born without a mother."
"She said that this was a perfectly normal thing in Zhongshan, and there was no need for me to go against the laws of nature to prolong her life."
The large snake flicked its tongue, its tone as usual.
"I understand, but I don't quite understand." The mountain lord raised its front paw, licked it, and then scratched its head.
"Then think about it, if you were me, what would you do?" the giant snake asked.
"Hmm—" Shan Jun pondered.
It earnestly imagined itself as a giant snake.
Countless thoughts rushed through my mind.
"My words will extend its lifespan."
"But if it were really me, I would give the white fox a peaceful place and let it die quietly without pain."
"You're making it sound even more mystical than I am." The giant snake raised its tail, the tip of which fell, about to strike the blue tiger's head. "Silly cat."
"I'm not stupid." The mountain lord retorted, leaping backward to dodge the snake's tail tip.
"And I made it very clear."
"If it were Zhongshan, he would just watch the white fox die quietly, and at most he would only do what I said."
"But I am not the mountain beneath your feet, silly cat. I am a snake, just like you, a creature of Zhongshan." The snake retracted its tail.
"There's not much difference. Sometimes when I look at you, it's like looking at a mountain or a river. If I don't calm down and look closely, I won't even notice you passing by me," the mountain king shook his tiger head and replied.
"After determining the watercourses of Zhongshan, what should we do?" The pragmatic Shan Jun never dwells on one thing; once the topic is settled, he immediately moves on to another.
"I'll take care of the rest. You all focus on your cultivation and become as strong as possible."
"Ideally, it should be powerful enough to handle malice from all sides without my intervention."
"So how strong exactly do you need to be?" Shan Jun scratched his head. "Logically speaking, you and I are at the same level now."
At this point, it truly couldn't understand why demonic beasts of the same realm could have such a vast difference in strength.
Faced with the giant snake, it couldn't even muster the slightest thought of resistance.
"You—you wouldn't happen to be like those humans down the mountain who said—" Qinghu looked up at it, his tone serious, "What kind of mythology has manifested in this world?"
"Have you heard any myths about me?" the giant serpent asked.
"That's what humans say. I'm not like them, reading books all day long, looking at this and that. Besides, Zhongshan never said that," Qinghu replied irritably.
"You are still standing at the crossroads of the rise of life, and you don't even know which path to take yet."
"Naturally, no one can compare to me."
"Studying is good." The snake's tail slapped against the mud at the bottom of the water. "And it's time for you to leave Zhongshan and venture into the world."
"Then what path are you taking? I see you've even grown dragon horns, are you about to transform into a dragon?" Upon hearing this, the mountain lord stared at the red snake, and finally the light stopped on its head. "To be honest, I don't like the dragons of the East Sea."
"The frogs said they were cruel, tyrannical, and soft-bodied; more like a group of greedy humans than demons."
"That's just how it is with the East Sea Dragons, isn't it?" the giant serpent said.
Before the words were even finished, it suddenly sensed something and looked up at the horizon.
A layer of imagery is veiled over the golden and silver heterochromatic eyes.
The Far East, a place where water elements converge.
A slender figure tumbled across the sky, as dark clouds took shape and gained momentum.
The rising sun was obscured, and shadows enveloped the river.
A colossal crocodile, as large as a human treasure ship, carrying countless dragons from the East Sea, surged forward against the current of the Luo River.
"Candle, what did you see?" the mountain lord asked.
"It's nothing, something just came knocking on our door."
"Didn't you want to know just how powerful one needs to be to be immune to malice from all sides?"
As soon as the words were spoken, the water rippled, and the giant snake's body slowly left the Luo River.
The scales, along with the steam, emerged and fell, lifting layers of water curtains.
His head was bowed, and his eyes were downcast.
At that moment, the sky and earth darkened slightly.
Deep within the golden and silver heterochromatic eyes, something suppressed, accumulated, and unable to be released seemed to be gradually ignited.
The blue tiger was enveloped in a huge shadow and looked up to meet it.
At a glance, the expression and gaze that it couldn't understand a few days ago are now completely clear.
The great serpent harbored an unvented fire within its heart, and returned to the Luo River to cool down its restless soul.
"Should I go find the golden apes and the others now?" Shan Jun asked, his voice trembling almost imperceptibly.
It could not imagine the power the great serpent would unleash in its rage.
Landslide?
Earth cracks?
"No need to go." The horns on the giant serpent's head emitted spiritual fluctuations, which landed on the forehead of the mountain lord and also on all the great demons of Zhongshan who had broken their shackles and were about to be shackled.
Sound and images blinded them.
A giant crocodile carried a horde of demons on its back, as dark clouds rolled in.
The serpent's fiery yet restrained heart suddenly accelerated, pumping out blood as hot as lava.
The surging heat scorched the Luo River to boiling point, forcing the mountain lord to retreat repeatedly.
"Just when I was in a bad mood, something was delivered to my door."
"If you can fight, then fight; if you can't, then wait to be eaten."
