The Road to Superstardom: Starting as a Singer

Chapter 35 A clothes hanger is not a money-making machine.

At 3 p.m., in the meeting room of Jive Records.

The team sent by Armani arrived on time.

The leader was a man in his fifties with his hair neatly combed back. His name was Luca, and he was the senior director of Armani's US public relations department.

He was followed by a younger female designer and four entourage members carrying heavy suitcases of clothing.

"Jace, it's nice to meet you."

Luca warmly shook Huang Weijie's hand: "Your image in the 'Baby' music video perfectly matches the urban and energetic feel we want to convey for this season's youth-oriented campaign. We're really looking forward to this collaboration!"

"It is my honor, Mr. Luca. Armani has always been a brand I greatly admire, and if possible, I would actually prefer to collaborate with you on clothing."

Huang Weijie responded with a smile, making no attempt to hide his true thoughts.

Although his tone was humble, the arrogance of youth was still quite evident.

Luca was not angry but pleased. He felt that Huang Weijie's performance was more in line with the feeling that the young lineup wanted to express this season.

"Haha, there's a chance. Actually, I'm really looking forward to a deeper collaboration between us..."

After exchanging pleasantries, we got down to business.

The accompanying staff opened the clothing box and carefully took out several sets of outfits.

There are tailored navy blue casual suits, light gray shirts with subtle patterns paired with black slim-fit trousers, and more stylish patchwork jackets...

Each outfit comes with matching shoes and accessories.

"We have two options for you," Luca said, gesturing for his entourage to unfold one of the black evening gowns. "One is that we can directly provide the season's main ready-to-wear pieces, with the size adjusted slightly according to your measurements. The other is that if you have any special preferences or ideas, we can also contact our Los Angeles studio to do some small-scale customization based on the existing styles."

Accompanied by Madeline and stylist Amy, Huang Weijie carefully examined the clothes.

The texture, workmanship, and design are all impeccable, meeting the standards of top-tier brands.

"How about I try it on first?" He pointed to the clothes in front of him.

"Of course, please make yourself at home." Luca gestured for him to proceed.

Huang Weijie changed his clothes in the lounge next door.

When he walked out wearing that well-tailored navy blue suit, Luca and the female designer's eyes visibly lit up.

What kind of guy looks good in a suit?

Some people say that the "inverted triangle" body shape looks best in it.

Some people say that body shape is important, but what's more important is whether the suit fits well and is properly tailored. That's the key!

However, some people say that the most important thing is actually the wearer's demeanor and confidence.

As for Huang Weijie, he meets most of the criteria.

Broad shoulders, a slender waist, long and straight legs, and an upright posture without hunching or stooping... all these indicate that he is a natural clothes hanger!

The Armani suit was tailored to fit his body perfectly, neither too loose to look old-fashioned nor too tight to restrict his youthful energy.

The dark fabric made his skin appear even whiter, and his deep eyes looked exceptionally clear and bright above the crisp collar.

He stood there casually, raising his hand to straighten his cuffs, naturally exuding a unique charm that blended boyish innocence with masculine composure.

"WOW~~Perfect!!" Luca couldn't help but clap his hands softly. "Jace, you're a natural clothes hanger!"

Huang Weijie smiled and tried on the off-white suit again. The effect was just as good, only this time it made him look more sunny and casual.

For the next hour or so, Huang Weijie was basically a "human clothes hanger," cooperating with Amy and Armani's designers to communicate details while Amy tried on clothes and took photos.

Tighten the waistline here, adjust the sleeve length by half a centimeter there, and choose a brooch or watch that would stand out more...

Ultimately, both parties agreed that the navy blue suit would be worn on the red carpet, paired with a simple white shirt, without a tie, and with the top button undone to create a relaxed and stylish look.

For the performance segment, a different, more dynamic outfit was chosen: a dark blue velvet jacket paired with black leather pants, which allowed for easy movement and created a more dazzling effect under the stage lights.

All accessories were provided by Armani.

After seeing off the satisfied Luca team, Huang Weijie rubbed his stiff neck.

Actually, he really didn't want to wear leather pants if he could, but he couldn't help it; the current aesthetic is that leather pants are cool.

Positioned as a teenage idol, he naturally wants to be as handsome and cool as possible.

He can only dress casually when he's able to make a living through his work.

Right now, he's clearly still a long way from being able to make a living solely from his work.

All I can do now is sell my face and figure...

The thought flashed through my mind, but when I turned around, I realized that the afternoon sun was already beginning to set.

"We're shooting tomorrow morning, remember to be in good shape," Madeline reminded her while organizing the documents. "Get some rest early tonight."

Huang Weijie nodded and took the company car back to his apartment alone.

Pushing open the apartment door, the interior was dimly lit.

The curtains were drawn tightly shut, with only a small nightlight in the corner of the living room emitting a faint glow.

Huang Weijie paused for a moment, then gently closed the door.

I changed my shoes, walked to the bedroom door, and pushed it open a crack.

Christine was lying on her side in bed, fast asleep.

She was completely enveloped in the soft down comforter, with only half of her face and her long brown hair scattered on the pillow showing.

Her breathing was even and long, her eyelashes cast a small shadow under her eyelids, her lips were slightly pouting, and her face was smooth and delicate, looking less angular and more unguarded and soft than usual.

Huang Weijie walked in gently, sat down on the edge of the bed, and reached out to stroke her cheek very softly.

Madeline's blunt, even somewhat cold, words from that afternoon resurfaced in his mind.

"You can only sleep, but you can't fall asleep."

He looked at Christine's peaceful sleeping face and shook his head slightly.

He will be mindful of boundaries and will maintain distance in public.

But did he completely regard the girl he had spent a considerable amount of time with as merely a tool for venting his desires or an "outsider" he needed to be wary of?

He can't.

He is a human being, a person with flesh and blood and feelings.

If one truly becomes as "sophisticated" and "utilitarian" as Madeleine expects, what difference is there between them and a machine that only knows how to make money?

After watching quietly for a while, Huang Weijie got up, quietly left the bedroom, and gently closed the door.

I went to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator.

I put on my apron and started washing and cooking rice.

The spatula made a soft clinking sound, the range hood hummed softly, and the aroma of food gradually filled the air.

As Huang Weijie skillfully stir-fried the food, he sighed inwardly.

Cherish the present moment. After tomorrow, it will probably be a luxury to cook a meal for yourself in such a leisurely way again.

By the time the two dishes and soup were served, it was already completely dark.

Huang Weijie went to the bedroom. Christine was still asleep, but she had changed her position. The blanket had slipped down a bit, revealing her shoulders and collarbone, which were covered by his oversized T-shirt.

"Darling," he said, sitting on the edge of the bed and leaning closer, his voice soft, "wake up, it's time for dinner."

"Um……"

Christine hummed unconsciously, her eyelashes fluttering a few times, but she didn't open her eyes. Instead, she buried her face deeper into the pillow.

Huang Weijie found it funny, but also thought her confused look was kind of cute.

He reached out and gently pinched the tip of her nose.

A moment later, Christine's brow twitched, and she finally struggled to open her eyes.

His gray-green eyes were misty as he stared blankly at Huang Weijie, who was standing right in front of him, before finally focusing after a couple of seconds.

"Jace? You're back... What time is it?"

"It's already evening, you sleepyhead." Huang Weijie smiled, reaching out to tidy her messy hair. "Get up and eat."

Christine was clearly not fully awake yet. With her eyes half-closed, she reached out to Huang Weijie and mumbled indistinctly, "Pull me..."

Seeing this rare display of coquettishness on her face, Huang Weijie felt a pang of tenderness in his heart.

Christine is usually stubborn and argumentative, even in bed. She only begs for mercy when she really can't hold on any longer. She rarely shows such natural dependence and coquettishness.

He smiled, but instead of taking her hand, he bent down, put one hand under her knees and the other around her back, and with a little effort, lifted her up in his arms.

"what!"

Christine gasped softly, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck, fully awake.

She was only wearing Huang Weijie's oversized white T-shirt, the hem of which had rolled up to her upper thighs due to her movements, completely exposing her two dazzlingly white legs to the air, which gleamed with an ivory-like luster in the dim light.

Huang Weijie carried her and strode from the bedroom to the dining room.

Christine leaned against him, feeling the firm strength of his arms and chest, and her heart skipped a beat.

Christine was gently placed on a chair in front of the dining table. Looking at the two dishes and soup on the table, which looked and smelled delicious, Christine was stunned for a few seconds, and then a warm feeling welled up in her heart.

She stood up, put her arm around Huang Weijie's waist who was still standing next to her, and tilted her head back to give him a gentle kiss.

"Jace," her voice was still a little hoarse, but her eyes were bright, "this feels so good... to wake up and see you, and to have dinner prepared by you. Wow, this feels a hundred times more romantic than receiving flowers or any expensive gift!"

Huang Weijie, with her arms around him, looked down at her exceptionally moist eyes and slightly flushed cheeks, and teased, "OK, I got it. I'll remember to buy you flowers."

"No! That's not what I meant! I meant that this feeling of 'home' touched me more than any gift."

"But this is what I mean: I think it's nice to send flowers occasionally."

Christine, seeing the amusement in his eyes, knew he was teasing her, and lightly punched him: "Damn it! Then... then don't tell me when you're delivering it! Don't ruin my anticipation!"

"no problem."

Huang Weijie smiled gently and pinched her cheek. "I promise you a surprise. Let's eat, I'm starving."

"OK, OK, I think you cooked a bit too much. Eating less at night is better for maintaining your figure."

"It's okay, I can still grow bigger, I'll just eat more."

"You're still developing? Oh!!"

"Hahaha……"
