American Farmers: Facing a Cutoff at the Start
Chapter 48 Business Plan
Lina placed the hunting knife back on the windowsill with a light and graceful movement.
Then, she sat back on the edge of the bed, crossed her long legs, and gracefully crossed her legs, casually picking up a notebook and a pencil from the table.
Unlike Lyra's healthy, voluptuous, and wildly energetic figure, Lina is the typical urban slender beauty.
Her collarbone was clearly defined, and even through her clothes, one could sense her slender yet upright elite aura.
The whole person is like a finely polished scalpel.
Turning to a new page, Lina looked up, her gaze fixed intently on Fett, like a seasoned consultant diagnosing a business:
A successful business plan should take the following points into account.
"Usually, the first thing we need to consider is our target customers and their needs—who will buy it? What do they really want?"
"Fett, your analysis just now was very accurate. You captured both the sense of participation and the tough guy complex very well."
She lightly touched the paper with the tip of her pen:
"So let's look directly at the second point: core assets and differentiation."
"Simply put, what do we have that others don't? Only irreplaceable scarcity can bring customers a unique experience."
She looked at the two of them:
"There's a third point: resources and costs. We're looking for something with zero marginal cost."
"Ideally, it should be an object that has been abandoned but carries some special meaning or story."
"Now, I need to know everything about the farm. I'll ask, and you'll answer."
Lena's pencil hovered above the paper, her eyes sharp:
"Tell me, besides the wild boar you killed, what else is special here?"
"Even things you take for granted, as long as they're not found on other farms, count."
Fett and Lyra exchanged a glance, frowned and pondered for a while, before finally shaking their heads helplessly.
"I didn't really notice anything special about the farm."
Fett shrugged, somewhat dejected:
"Our farm has everything: tractors, barns, haystacks... Other farms also have them, and theirs may even be newer and bigger than ours."
Lina shook her head, her meticulously lined eyes narrowing slightly as her gaze passed over Fett and landed on the hunting knife on the windowsill.
"No, you're 'seeing the trees but not the forest'."
"This knife-forging skill is a unique talent that not every farmer possesses."
Leila spoke somewhat anxiously:
"But Fett's injuries haven't fully healed yet, so he can't possibly swing a hammer and forge a sword right now!"
"No rush."
Lina remained calm and quickly jotted down a few notes on the paper:
"This is just a brainstorming session. We list out all the possibilities first, and then select the feasible solutions."
She turned to look out the window, her gaze settling on the calf peeking out of the cowshed.
"I think your idea for 'Animal Paradise' is good, but the specific details still need to be discussed."
Then, she twirled her pen and posed the next question:
"Are there any things on the farm that you can't find in the city, but that are plentiful on farms?"
Fett thought of the boxes of ammunition he had used up in the past few days of shooting practice:
"How about bullet casings? There's a whole bunch of bright yellow bullet casings scattered on the ground in the backyard. I was planning to collect them and sell them as scrap metal."
Lina pursed her lips and thought for a moment:
"There aren't many shell casings in the city, but they're not nonexistent either."
"That sounds good, but Arkansas has almost no restrictions on gun ownership, so shell casings might seem quite common to locals."
Leila thought for a moment, then pointed in the direction of her own farm:
"Then...what about wool?"
"I still have a lot of loose wool at home. It doesn't sell for much, but it's so soft and comfortable to touch after it's washed."
Lina made a note in her notebook, offered no comment, and simply asked, "Anything else?"
Fett's gaze swept across the woodpile outside the window: "Wood. There's all sorts of wood on the farm, hardwood, softwood, and even tree roots that were originally meant for firewood."
Leila added, "And farm machinery, all sorts of old farm tools. My dad was a hoarder; the warehouse was full of rusty scrap metal."
After the two finished speaking, the room fell into a brief silence, with only the scratching sound of pencils rapidly tracing across the paper.
Lena lowered her head, her expression focused, and the lines under her pen stretched and intertwined rapidly. Fett and Lyra held their breath, not daring to make a sound and disturb the business elite's train of thought.
Occasionally, Lina would suddenly stop writing and pose a short question:
"Fett, is your wound healing in such good condition that you can stand and sharpen the knife? No need for forging, just sharpening."
"Sure!" Fett nodded quickly. "As long as you don't run around too much, standing and working is no problem."
Do you have horses?
Fett shook his head, and Lyra chimed in, "I have two Quarter Horses! They're both very docile."
After a while, Lina raised her head again, her gaze falling on Lyra's somewhat rough but nimble hands:
"Layla, can you make a felted doll?"
Leila paused for a moment, then puffed out her chest: "Yes! I've been doing this since I was a kid, it's a basic skill."
A few minutes later, Lina finally put down her pen and let out a long sigh. She opened the notebook in her hand and placed it on the bed sheet in front of them. Her slender fingers touched the pages, and she began to explain each point:
"Okay, this is the initial draft."
She pointed to the "Interactive Experience" section on the left page:
"First, the 'Medal of Courage' photo spot. That boar's head can't just be hung up anywhere anymore; we need to build a platform for it."
"In the most conspicuous place in the yard, nail together a few old wooden planks to make a background wall, hang the wild boar's head on it, and put an old hunting rifle and 'King' next to it as props."
"Everyone who comes here can take a picture like a hero who has defeated a beast, which is the best material for them to promote you for free on social media."
"Secondly, there's the 'farm touch.' Take out the docile animals from both of your farms, along with Lyra's Quarter Horse, and fence off a patch of grass."
"To allow city kids who have only ever seen cats and dogs to get up close and touch cows and feed horses."
"This realistic tactile sensation is something that plastic models in theme parks can't provide."
Lina looked at Lyra:
"Finally, and this is specially designed for you—the 'Wool Craft Class'."
"Using the cleaned, loose wool, teach children and mothers to make simple farm animal dolls—like lambs or calves—using a needle and thread."
"This gives mothers who come with their children something to do, as parent-child interaction is very important for the family atmosphere."
Next, her finger slid to the right page under "Hardcore Souvenirs," which was the main attraction:
"As for souvenirs, let's make this—a 'Little Tough Guy' wooden knife."
She pointed to the hastily drawn but spirited sketch:
"The wood is used as the raw material, and Fett sands it on-site using a belt sander."
"Grinding the wood into a smooth knife shape and a warm, smooth feel is both safe and retains the rough, handcrafted texture."
Lina paused, then pointed out the most exquisite detail:
"Most importantly, use spent cartridge cases as decoration on the knife handle."
"The wood represents the land, and the bullet casing represents protection."
"These two things, which were originally not very useful, were combined to become a unique, tough-guy keepsake with a lot of stories behind it."
After speaking, she raised her head, a confident smile playing on her lips, and looked at the two of them:
"What do you think about making wool crafting and wooden knife crafting paid services?"
