Guyver Armor: KAP-2
Chapter 20: Planning, Entering the Interior of the Ruins
Let's return our attention to the ruins of Mount Meina.
Inside the spacious laboratory, bathed in soft blue light, Director Oda Kirito stood before a massive holographic screen, solemnly explaining the relevant information about the ruins base to Tsubasa Kanno standing beside him.
"Mr. Kamino, please look."
Director Xiaotian raised his hand to signal, and the image on the screen immediately switched.
"This is the overall structure of the Mena Sacred Mountain Relics Base—"
Years ago, this relic, buried deep within the mountain, was first discovered by Professor Shinichiro Yamamura and his research team. Unexpectedly, the Kronos organization brazenly kidnapped the entire research team, including Professor Yamamura, forcibly stealing his research findings and turning the site into their secret base.
The cold light from the blue screen shone on Director Xiaotian Tong's serious face, and an extremely complex site structure diagram slowly emerged, with densely packed functional areas filling the entire outline of the mountain like a spider web.
As can be clearly seen from the image, the entire foundation of the Mina Mountain base is built on top of the Descendant Relic spaceship located underground.
A massive central elevator space, running vertically through the mountain, acts like a spine, connecting the various floors and functional areas within the mountain and tightly linking the base with the remnant spaceship.
"Currently, the Kronos organization knows nothing about the specific situation inside the remnant spaceship."
Director Oda Kirito's tone carried a hint of barely perceptible relief: "They had previously sent beastmen to forcibly break in multiple times, but without exception, they were all completely decomposed by the dissolving liquid secreted by the relic ship's automatic defense system, leaving not even a skeleton behind."
The Kronos organization paid an extremely heavy price in its efforts to explore this "living relic" buried deep underground.
All the beastmen sent into the relic spaceship, regardless of rank, would be instantly corroded and decomposed by a special dissolving liquid secreted from the spaceship's several-meter-thick, indestructible biomass hull.
In order to break through this deadly defense, Kronos urgently mobilized nearly a hundred experimental beast soldiers carrying special antibodies and launched a concentrated assault with a large force.
In the end, it was only through the relay of experimental subjects that all the "Units·KAP" inside the ruins spaceship were brought out, at the painful cost of total annihilation.
The last beastman to charge out with the unit collapsed from exhaustion the moment he broke through the outer shell of the ruins, and was swallowed up by the dissolving liquid that followed, leaving no trace of his body.
"But unlike Kronos's blind assault, we secretly used the resources of the Relics Research Department to collect structural data on relics from all over the world. After long-term integration and analysis, we successfully drew this internal structural diagram of the relic spaceship."
Director Oda Kirito's tone carried a hint of pride as he gestured to Hayami Toshiaki standing to the side.
Hayami Toshiaki immediately understood and quickly manipulated the buttons on the control panel. The image on the holographic screen instantly switched, and a more detailed diagram of the internal structure of the relic spaceship was clearly presented.
According to the markings in the diagram and the supplementary explanation from Director Oda Kiri, the main body of this nearly 1,000-meter-long relic spacecraft is shaped like an egg, narrower at the top and wider at the bottom.
The slender tail extending from directly below the egg-shaped body, together with the supporting structure below, forms the spacecraft's energy core and propulsion system;
The "egg white" area surrounding the outer layer of the egg is speculated to be the space used by the arrivals for living and scientific research.
The cavity space located in the very center of the ship, resembling an "egg yolk," should be the main bridge of the entire spaceship, which is also the location of the core control room.
"As for the 'Unit-Kap', our research has found that they were originally stored in three recesses in a smaller chamber directly above the control room."
"These units are standard equipment for the Adventists, much like a human's spacesuit."
Director Odagiri's gaze towards Jinno suddenly became intense:
"We have reason to suspect that the colonists wearing the Guyver armor have a very high chance of being able to pass the identity verification process at the Relic Ship's control center and actually enter the control room without triggering the ship's own defense mechanisms!"
Kamino Tsubasa stood quietly to the side, listening intently, her fingertips unconsciously tapping her palms, already understanding in her heart—
As expected of one of the world's top biological scientists, Director Oda Kirito and his team's research findings and conjectures perfectly match the original plot as they know it.
"Unit-Kap" is indeed the true key to activating this Descendant Relic ship before us.
Once the signal from the bio-armor is recognized by the central control brain of the Relic spaceship, the biomass hull of the Relic spaceship will automatically open a passage, revealing a door leading to the internal space.
He couldn't help but recall the plot of the original work: it was Fukamachi Akira and Makijima Agito who, in their armored state, successfully entered and activated the relic spaceship, and ultimately used the power of the spaceship's ascent to completely destroy the entire Minakamiyama base.
But Tsubasa Kamino knew in his heart that the aftermath of this story would be far more tragic than it appeared—
This only remaining intact remnant of the descendant creatures did not play a greater role. Instead, during the subsequent fierce battle between the protagonists and the Beast Gods, it was pierced by a reflected Mega Particle Cannon and completely reduced to ruins in a violent explosion.
Even more poignant is that, in the final moments of the remnant spaceship's destruction, its biological central brain issued its last command:
The navigation and control devices of the remnant spaceship—the two huge metal control spheres embedded at the top and bottom of the control room cockpit—detached from the main body. In the shock wave of the explosion, they automatically reassembled into a huge cocoon-like structure, enveloping and protecting the remaining control devices of the pilot, Kep 1, and the consciousness of Fukamachi Akira.
At the same time, it used the last spatial power of the relic spaceship to transfer the protagonist and his companions out of the danger zone, which allowed them to escape with their lives despite being surrounded by all the beast god generals.
Just as Kannagi's thoughts were racing, Director Odakiri's voice suddenly became urgent, filled with barely concealed excitement: "Mr. Kannagi, I have important news!"
He raised his hand and tapped lightly on the control panel, bringing up a latest intelligence briefing:
"I just received a message from an informant at the Central Region Production and Development Center of the base: starting yesterday, the guard forces within the Ruins Base have been inexplicably being transferred away in batches. Just now, even the 'Damaged Seed Experiment' force left!"
"The base's defenses are currently at their lowest level, which presents a perfect opportunity for us to take action!"
The researchers in the command room could not hide their excitement, and all their eyes turned to Tsubasa Kamino.
"That's right!" Hayami Toshiaki chimed in, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"This is an opportunity we must seize! Let's prepare to move in, Mr. Jinno!"
