Guyver Armor: KAP-2

Chapter 4: Departure, the Beginning of Reversing Fate

The white mouse swung its strong arms, now transformed into a beast soldier, and instinctively struck the driver with its scaly claws, accompanied by a whistling sound.

After the sharp sound of claws slicing through the air, came the dull thud of muscles tearing and bones breaking.

The greedy driver didn't even have time to beg for mercy before he was brutally torn into a mangled mess of flesh and blood. His internal organs and bone fragments mingled together, staining the gravel on the ground red and emitting a strong stench of blood.

The bestial instincts became even more ferocious after the slaughter. The white mouse lowered its head, staring at the flesh and blood on the ground, letting out a low growl from its throat, saliva dripping from its sharp teeth and the corners of its mouth.

His body trembled slightly, and his claws involuntarily stretched forward, as if he wanted to pounce and tear it apart to eat.

"No... I am a human... not a beast!" He clutched his head, letting out a painful roar, desperately resisting his bestial instincts.

The muscles beneath the scales twitched violently, twisting and contracting in defiance. The pale gray scales began to recede at a visible rate, gradually turning into powder from the edges, revealing the human skin covered in red marks beneath.

Finally, the over-expanded muscles shrank slowly like a deflated balloon, the bones made a "clicking" sound as they reset, the metallic claws slowly retracted to their tips, and his body gradually returned from a two-meter-tall behemoth to a human form.

The white mouse lay naked on the cold, gravelly ground, covered in dirt and its own blood.

He gasped for breath, each breath feeling like swallowing razor blades, his chest heaving violently, his throat filled with the metallic taste of blood. The beastly transformation he had just undergone had almost completely exhausted his already weakened strength; his body felt as if it had been disassembled and reassembled, every part screaming in pain.

"My body is nearing its limit..." He struggled to lift his head, gazing at the dark night sky, his eyes filled with despair and hatred. "Damn experiments, damn Kronos!"

He hated Kronos for turning him into this inhuman, grotesque creature, hated the endless torture, and hated even more that he didn't even have the right to refuse to kill. That moment of loss of control just now led him to end another life with his own hands.

The little mouse gritted his teeth, struggled to his feet, and, enduring the excruciating pain, staggered towards the truck. He needed to find some clothes to cover himself, and more importantly, he needed to get out of there as soon as possible—his screams might have attracted Kronos's pursuers.

"Sigh, I have to find another set of clothes again." He sighed softly, his voice full of helplessness.

Opening the trunk of the truck, there were indeed a few spare old clothes for the driver. Although they were dirty and tattered, and the size was a bit too big, they could at least cover his body. He hastily put on a large shirt and a pair of trousers. The shirt cuffs and trouser legs were too short, but he didn't care.

He carefully picked up the black travel bag, returned to the driver's seat, and started the truck. On the mountain road, the engine roared again, speeding towards the lights below.

The night remained thick, and the truck's headlights faded into the distance on the mountain road. Only a mangled mass of flesh and blood remained, along with a few drops of dark red blood.

Before long, several crows attracted by the smell of blood landed nearby, cawing noisily and scrambling for the remains on the ground, adding a touch of gloom and terror to the quiet night.

In June, even the air feels sticky and heavy.

In the teachers' office at Sakura High School, the air conditioner's outdoor unit hummed, but it couldn't dispel the sweltering heat that permeated the desks and chairs.

As Tsubasa Kamino was grading yesterday's math test papers, the scratching sound of his pen on the paper was interrupted by the chatter coming from the desk next to him.

"Have you heard? Last night, a truck driver was killed in the nearby mountains."

Ms. Sato lowered her voice, her face showing a look of shock, and she even forgot to move the red pen in her hand. "It was discovered by hikers who were jogging in the morning. The scene was horrific."

"I heard about it too!" The female teacher next door chimed in, her voice filled with barely suppressed fear.

"My husband is a policeman, and he was called to provide backup early this morning. He said the victim's bones and muscles were completely shattered, and there were strange claw marks around the wounds. It's not something a human or wild animal could do; it's like he was killed by a monster..."

"A monster?" Teacher Sato gasped. "Could it be a black bear from the deep mountains that has come to life?"

"Who knows? The police have already blocked off the mountain path behind the mountain and are still investigating. I won't let the kids play there anymore."

Tsubasa Kanno paused slightly in his grip on the pen, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes before returning to his usual gentle demeanor.

He pretended to be focused on grading papers, but his ears were listening to every conversation—the truck driver, the back mountain, the bizarre death, the monster… all the key clues had come together.

This wasn't some wild animal attacking people, but rather the carnage left by a Beast Corps experimental subject that had gone out of control—a harbinger of the imminent arrival of three Bio-engineered armor units.

He glanced down at his digital watch; it was almost time for school to end. According to the original timeline, tonight was the official debut of the Guyver Armor Cap 1, and also the final moment for him to seize the "Unit G" project.

Having made up his mind, Tsubasa Kamino took leave in advance and returned to his bachelor apartment, opening a hidden compartment deep inside the wardrobe.

Inside, the prepared equipment was already neatly arranged: tactical helmets, tactical gloves, night vision goggles, combat suits, down jackets, field boots, adrenaline injectors, multi-tool pliers, and high-powered flashlights.

He checked his entire suit, which he had painted and modified himself based on the Chronos combat suit from the original story, to make sure it was about 90% identical to his memory. "Under the cover of night, it should be indistinguishable from the real thing. I'll just have to improvise when the situation comes."

Tsubasa Kamino quickly changed his clothes, stuffing the medicine and tools into the inner pockets of his combat suit, putting on a windbreaker over it, and hanging night vision goggles around his neck.

The man in the mirror had shed his usual "gentle teacher" facade; his eyes were as calm as a drawn blade, and he exuded a chilling aura completely different from his usual demeanor.

"That completes all the preparations I could make..." Tsubasa Kamino muttered to himself in front of the mirror, his fingertips brushing against the adrenaline syringe in his pocket, the backup drug he had obtained through illegal means at great risk.

He knew very well that he was just an ordinary person who trained regularly, but he was going to face beast-like soldiers trained by the Kronos organization. If he was seriously injured in the operation, he might lose his ability to move and be at the mercy of others.

This dose of adrenaline was his last hope for a comeback despite his injury.

"Success or failure hinges on this moment, let's go!"
