Guyver Armor: KAP-2
Chapter 53 Conversation, On the Eve of Re-entering the Ruins
"It seems I'll have to have a frank talk with Fukamachi Akira later."
Kanna Tsubasa silently recited to himself, his gaze first sweeping over Murakami, who was sleeping soundly in the incubation chamber—his pale face and even breathing reminded him that this Beast God Prototype would not be able to provide any assistance in the short term.
Then, his gaze fell back on Fukamachi Akira beside him. The boy's eyes were clear, filled with the innocence of someone untouched by the world.
Looking at that face, Tsubasa Kamino slowly made up his mind; this was the only way.
This path is not only about eliminating the hidden dangers of his own KAP-2 colony and his own life and safety, but also about gaining true control of the Relic spacecraft.
Whoever controls this spaceship carrying alien technology holds the key to defeating Kronos.
It's not that Tsubasa Kanno was too ambitious and insisted on having control in his own hands; it's just that he knew the personality of Akira Fukamachi from the original work all too well.
This natural protagonist is too indecisive in the early stages of the story, always held back by "kindness" and "responsibility", and often unable to make a decision at crucial moments.
Tsubasa Kanno still remembers that heartbreaking scene from the original work.
The relic ship had already successfully taken off and was only one step away from escaping Kronos's control.
However, seeing that Murakami Masaki was being held hostage by Richard Geo, Fukamachi Akira disregarded the safety of everyone on the spaceship and forcibly disconnected the spaceship to fight the Beast God.
This decision instantly caused the spaceship to lose its upward propulsion and the energy shield protecting itself and everyone else.
It was this moment of impulsiveness and hesitation that allowed Kronos to seize the fatal flaw, ultimately leading to the spaceship being pierced by the rebounding particle cannon and completely destroyed.
If it weren't for the fact that at the crucial final moment, the control center of the Relic Spaceship responded to Akira Fukamachi's call and used its last remaining energy to protect the lives of everyone on board, the whole story would have ended tragically at that point.
Similar experiences appeared more than once in the original work.
Tsubasa Kamino knew very well that although the trajectory of the story had changed slightly because of his arrival, Akira Fukamachi's inherent kindness and hesitation remained unchanged.
At this moment, the boy's mind is not yet fully mature. Faced with Kronos's coercion and temptation, and faced with the choice of the safety of his companions, he cannot always maintain a clear judgment.
"Director Odagiri." Thinking of this, Kanno Tsubasa turned to look at Odagiri beside him: "Has the preparation work for exploring the core area of the ruins been completed during this time?"
"Of course!" Director Oda nodded immediately, a look of satisfaction on his face. "These past two days, the young men have been working tirelessly to finish the new heritage exploration backpacks."
"We have also made many improvements based on the feedback from the last exploration, and have specially added a high-definition display screen and a two-way communication module, so that you can see our monitoring screen in real time inside the ruins, making communication more convenient."
"Thank you for your hard work." Tsubasa Kanno's gaze swept over the busy people in the research department. "Then let's get ready. We'll officially re-enter the ruins in an hour."
He added as soon as he finished speaking, "Director Oda Kiri, there's something I need to make clear to you. The Relic Spaceship automatically binds to the first implanted user, and currently only I can trigger its activation procedure."
He paused for a moment, then stated the core objective of this trip: "Therefore, the objective of this mission in the ruins is to assist me in repairing the bio-armor control metal in order to meet the minimum requirements for the spaceship to start."
Tsubasa Kamino wasn't lying at all; the core program of the Relic Spaceship did indeed contain a low-level setting that allowed for "automatic binding to the first armored connector."
But he kept another piece of information hidden—this binding process was not irreversible.
As the first person to bind to the ship, he has the full authority to transfer control voluntarily—simply by completing authorization authentication in the spaceship's control room through the mental link with the metal, he can hand over control to someone else.
This concealment was due to his foresight as a time traveler.
They are about to face a choice that concerns the fate of everyone. If Jing cannot learn to make the "necessary decisions" at critical moments, the control of the spaceship must never be handed over to him.
"No problem!" Director Oda Kiri replied without hesitation, "Go ahead and do it. The base will fully cooperate with you and provide support at any time."
Without saying another word, Kanno Tsubasa turned to Fukamachi Akira and said in a serious tone, "Akira, come with me for a moment."
Akira Fukamachi looked confused, but still obediently agreed and followed Tsubasa Kanno into a separate lounge next door.
The door was gently closed, shutting out the noise from the outside world.
"Jing, you must not tell anyone what I'm about to say."
Tsubasa Kanno turned around, his gaze fixed intently on Akira Fukamachi's eyes: "This isn't just about my secret; it's about my life. Can you do it?"
"Okay, okay, Mr. Kanno!" Akira Fukamachi was moved by Tsubasa Kanno's unprecedentedly serious attitude and nodded vigorously.
Seeing his serious expression, Tsubasa Kamino took a deep breath and stopped hiding anything, revealing all the hidden dangers of the KEP-2.
From controlling the damage to metal, to the potential for long-term use to cause the colony to go out of control and be devoured, to the only solution:
Using the "Unit-Limba" device, another KAP colonist personally removed the KAP2 from his body, and then the Relic Spaceship completed the repair of the control metal.
"What?! Professor Kanno..."
Upon hearing all this, Fukamachi Akira was struck dumb, her face filled with shock and disbelief: "You...you mean, you want me to...just peel off your cyborg suit?"
"That's right." Kamino Tsubasa met his gaze, his tone serious.
"But at the same time, I must clearly tell you the risks. I cannot determine exactly how much energy the activation unit, Rimba, requires. During this process, any unexpected events may occur, and it might even endanger your life..."
He wasn't exaggerating. In the original story, even the severely injured Beast God General Richard Geo experienced an energy shortage crisis when he first activated Rimba.
Not to mention, whether humans can use the KAP suit to drive it is still an unknown.
"Mr. Kanno! You don't need to say anymore!"
Akira Fukamachi abruptly interrupted him, her eyes instantly becoming incredibly resolute, the shock she had just felt replaced by determination.
"You have saved all of our lives time and time again, from the beastmen of Chronos, from the brink of death, you have never backed down."
His chest heaved violently, his voice tinged with excitement: "Now it's my turn to save you, how could I possibly back down!"
"No matter how dangerous it is, I will definitely help you!"
