Disabled Childhood Sweetheart: A Humble Puppy Begs for the Young Lady's Pity
Chapter 34 Zhou Jingchen, you're hurting me.
The thought of his long, slender hands with distinct knuckles touching her underwear made Wenxi feel both ashamed and embarrassed, and she wished she could dig a hole and disappear into it.
Zhou Jingchen stood there, staring at him helplessly, like a child who had made a mistake and been scolded. His dark eyes looked at her for two seconds, then lowered again.
He didn't know why she was acting like this all of a sudden. In the past, she would always insist on him washing her clothes, and she would get angry if he didn't.
Facing those pure, dark eyes, Wenxi secretly regretted going a bit too far, and softened her tone:
"From now on, I'll wash myself. You're someone else's young master, you don't need to serve me or do these chores."
She said those things on purpose.
In fact, Wenxi didn't understand why she was so upset. She just felt that there seemed to be some subtle changes between her and Zhou Jingchen. Perhaps it was because they hadn't seen each other for a year or two and a sense of distance had grown between them.
Even something as simple as washing underwear has become awkward and embarrassing.
For the first time, Wenxi clearly realized that they had all grown up, and she could no longer let Zhou Jingchen touch her personal clothing as she had when she was a child.
Zhou Jingchen was caught off guard by her sudden coldness. He tiptoed to the bedside and asked cautiously, "What's wrong? Are you angry?"
"No." Wenxi turned her face away, grabbed the remote control and turned off the TV with a "snap," then buried herself in the blankets, wrapping herself up like a silkworm cocoon.
This is clearly anger.
Although he didn't know why she had changed her expression, he patiently sat down on the edge of the bed, his voice soft and gentle:
"I'm not some young master, I'm Wenxi's little dog. Besides, I did all these things voluntarily, and I didn't find it troublesome at all."
"In short, you're not allowed to touch my underwear anymore!" came a muffled protest from under the covers.
Zhou Jingchen's clear eyes instantly darkened, and his voice was filled with utter grievance: "You weren't like this before..."
She suddenly lifted the lid of the cup, glaring at him angrily: "The past is the past, the present is the present."
Zhou Jingchen stared at her intently, his heart sinking suddenly.
He seemed to understand—she was in a relationship now, and other guys would do these things for her in the future, so he wouldn't be needed anymore.
Does he not even have the right to wash her underwear anymore?
A self-deprecating smile crept into his eyes, and he responded softly, "Okay, I understand."
Zhou Jingchen silently walked back to his bed. Not long after, with a "click," the light was turned off, plunging the room into complete darkness.
Wenxi felt uneasy. Why did his eyes look so broken just now? Wouldn't it be better not to make him work? Why did he have to do this?
After a long while, her soft voice lingered in the air: "Zhou Jingchen, are you asleep?"
"No." His voice was a little hoarse as he stared blankly at the ceiling in the darkness.
"I didn't mean to yell at you just now," Wenxi said softly, fiddling with the corner of the blanket. "I just... I just felt a little awkward and didn't want you to wash my underwear anymore."
Zhou Jingchen's Adam's apple bobbed, and he gave a bitter smile: "So, who do you want to wash you?"
Is it Qin Xiao?
Have they held hands? Have they kissed?
Or... like those couples in college who secretly went out to book a hotel room?
These thoughts were like fine needles, pricking his heart again and again, causing him pain so intense he could hardly breathe, and a dense, overwhelming sense of jealousy and resentment surged up within him.
He has no right to be jealous.
He knew that Wenxi would do many more intimate things with other boys in the future. He tried desperately to suppress these thoughts, but the more he restrained himself, the clearer those images became in his mind.
Zhou Jingchen closed his eyes tightly, his long eyelashes trembling slightly and gradually becoming damp.
"I'll wash them myself, Zhou Jingchen. We're all grown up now, and I can't let you wash my underwear anymore."
After she finished speaking, there was a two-second silence.
Zhou Jingchen suddenly chuckled softly, and the knot in his chest instantly dissipated.
It turns out his little princess was just shy.
"Okay, I understand." His voice warmed again. "But I can still wash the dress for you."
Wenxi responded listlessly, "Okay."
As soon as he uttered that word, Zhou Jingchen felt a lightness in his heart, as if he had a piece of candy in his pocket, and even his breathing became sweet.
Night fell over the window sill.
Both of them were having trouble sleeping and their thoughts were wandering when they suddenly heard a creaking sound coming from next door.
"Why is this hotel so noisy?" Wenxi muttered, frowning.
Zhou Jingchen looked somewhat embarrassed: "I don't know either."
Less than a minute later, the two heard "uh-huh" sounds, which were from a woman. The voices were weak and sounded like she was both very happy and in pain.
Wenxi finally understood what had happened.
She fell silent, her face flushed, her fingers twisting the bedsheet.
The woman's voice rose and fell, sometimes soft and lingering, sometimes short and urgent.
Zhou Jingchen lay stiffly on the bed, his cheeks flushed red, and the tips of his ears burned in the darkness.
Of course he knew what was happening next door.
Those images had appeared countless times in his dreams; they were secret and shameful fantasies he dared not utter aloud.
The noise from next door lasted for about ten minutes, interspersed with the dull thud of wooden planks hitting the wall. Then, a sharp, tearful scream rang out, and the noise stopped; the woman seemed to be dead.
The room was dark and gloomy, and the hearts of the young couple were pounding.
They held their breath, not daring to even turn over, for fear of breaking the awkward silence.
-
The next day, as dawn broke, bright light streamed into the room.
When Wenxi woke up, the bed next to her was empty, and the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes and got out of bed. Just as she reached the door, the bathroom door opened.
After washing up, Zhou Jingchen, still faintly smelling of mint, leaned against the doorframe and looked at her: "Did you sleep well?"
Wenxi shook her head, her beautiful eyes half-open and half-closed, filled with deep weariness.
It's too noisy. That sound started again in the second half of last night and it kept going all night.
Zhou Jingchen walked up to her and asked for her opinion: "Should we ask the front desk to change our room today?"
"Never mind," Wenxi yawned, "Let's look at it again tonight, and if it doesn't work out, we can try something else."
She went into the bathroom to wash up, vigorously brushing her teeth with her toothbrush, then bent over and gulped down a large mouthful of water from the tap, making a loud rinsing sound.
After washing up, she changed into the lemon-yellow swimsuit she had bought the night before, and put on a loose shirt over it, the hem of which barely covered her thighs, revealing her slender and straight calves.
This place is not far from the seaside; it's only a seven or eight-minute taxi ride away.
Zhou Jingchen was also dressed casually, wearing loose beach shorts with a simple white T-shirt, revealing his smooth forearms.
In the car, Wenxi couldn't help but look at his left leg—it looked perfectly normal...
She sighed inwardly.
If Zhou Jingchen could walk normally, he would be able to go to more places, see more scenery, and experience more interesting things.
A wave of heartache washed over her, and Wenxi unconsciously leaned closer, taking his arm and gently resting her head on his shoulder. Zhou Jingchen was so good; God was so unfair.
However, this slight feeling of gloom was instantly swept away when he saw the vast blue sea.
The car was parked by the roadside, and as far as the eye could see, there was a magnificent view where the sea and sky merged into one. The clear blue stretched to the horizon, and the waves lapped against the beach, bringing a salty sea breeze.
Zhou Jingchen's cane would get stuck in the sand, and to avoid the trouble, he said, "I'll sit on the stone steps and wait for you. You can go and have fun."
Wenxi refused, stubbornly insisting that he put his left hand on her shoulder: "No, I want to go with you."
She carefully helped him, step by step, onto the beach. The fine sand was warm from the sun, soft and comfortable to walk on.
The coastline was bustling with activity. Adults were leading children to build sandcastles, groups of young people were chasing and playing, and couples were strolling hand in hand along the coastline, whispering sweet nothings.
Zhou Jingchen sat down on the beach and watched Wen Xi run quickly towards the sea. He couldn't help but warn her, "Don't go too far. There are undercurrents in the sea; it's dangerous."
"Okay!" Wenxi took off her shirt and threw it at his face.
The swimsuit underneath accentuated her slender waist, and her fair skin shone brightly in the sunlight, making it hard to open one's eyes. Her legs were straight and shapely.
She made a face at him and ran into the sea, her feet sinking into the wet sand. The cool seawater washed over her ankles as she bent over, kicking the water and splashing up a string of sparkling droplets. Her soft, long hair swayed gently in the sea breeze.
Zhou Jingchen sat quietly to the side, watching her with a faint smile on his lips and a tenderness and doting look in his eyes that he himself did not realize.
"These days are so good," he thought.
She wished time could slow down, just a little bit more, so he could stay with her like this for a little longer, and a little longer still.
Wenxi played for a while, then got tired and ran to his side with a smile. Her soft black hair was half wet, which made her skin look creamy white and beautiful. Her captivating eyes looked at him, bright and sparkling like the reflection of a lake and mountains.
"Is it fun?" Zhou Jingchen raised his hand and brushed away the fine sand clinging to her hair.
"That's fun." After saying that, a sly look flashed across her face, and she suddenly grabbed a handful of fine sand from behind and threw it directly into his collar.
Zhou Jingchen reacted quickly, taking advantage of her turning to run away, he immediately pinned her to the ground, his cool fingers tickling her lower back: "You ambushed me?"
Wenxi's most ticklish spot is her lower back. When he tickled her like that, she immediately arched her back and giggled, almost laughing until tears streamed down her face.
"Stop scratching...it's so itchy...Zhou Jingchen, do you want to die?!"
Wenxi's lower back is a sensitive spot that shouldn't be touched; touching it will make her laugh uncontrollably. This is her biggest weakness, and only her family knows it.
Zhou Jingchen had finally seized this opportunity, so naturally he wasn't going to let it go. He stared at her intently with his long, narrow eyes: "Do you still dare to tease me?"
"I won't dare, I won't dare!" Wenxi laughed so hard she was panting, and hurriedly begged for forgiveness.
A faint smile played on his lips as he released his grip. "I'm letting you go."
Before he could even sit up straight, he was hit in the chest by a handful of sand.
"You little rascal," he frowned slightly, then suddenly flipped her over and pinned her to the sand, one hand gripping her wrist while the other continued to tickle her lower back: "How can you be so naughty?"
The two were vastly different in size and strength. Wenxi was no match for him. His slender white wrists were pressed above her head, and his large hands easily held them.
Seeing that she had angered him, Wenxi hurriedly begged for forgiveness, "Zhou Jingchen, I won't tease you anymore, I won't dare to do it again..."
He gently ran his fingers over her lower back, and Wenxi flinched. Then he tickled her lower back, and Wenxi burst into uncontrollable laughter again, laughing until she was numb.
She has enjoyed this kind of game since she was a child.
When she was a chubby little girl, she would hide behind Grandpa Zhou, pat his left shoulder, and then jump to his right. Grandpa Zhou would catch her, tickle her chubby little belly, and say, "Got you, little magpie." Wenxi would laugh uncontrollably from the tickling.
Zhou Jingchen finally stopped laughing when Wenxi was almost out of breath.
He propped himself up on his arms, looking down at her. The tall boy, backlit, cast a soft shadow on her.
Wenxi hid in the shadows, looking up at him, her breathing gradually slowing down.
The air suddenly became very still.
The boy has shed his naivety and grown into a handsome young man.
He had long eyes, a prominent nose, thin lips, and a straight, sharp jawline. His downward gaze carried an unusual sense of oppression.
Wenxi's heart skipped a beat, and her face suddenly flushed.
Her eyes and brows were misty from her earlier laughter, and her cheeks were flushed a cherry blossom pink, making her look both delicate and stunning.
Zhou Jingchen's gaze fell on her moist lips, and his throat suddenly felt dry and itchy, as if a fire was burning inside him, and he desperately needed a glass of cold water.
Their breathing became erratic, and neither of them spoke.
The world seemed to have been paused, with only the sea breeze blowing gently, carrying a salty scent, brushing against their burning cheeks.
My heart was pounding wildly in my chest, "thump, thump, thump," each beat louder than the last.
"Zhou Jingchen, you're hurting me." Wenxi pouted and moved her wrist. Her voice was very soft, softer than usual.
How strange, a strange feeling just rose in my heart, it seemed like Zhou Jingchen's deep black eyes were going to suck her in.
When he looked at her, her heart pounded like a deer's, and her cheeks flushed slightly.
"I'm sorry." Zhou Jingchen suddenly came to his senses, released his hand as if he had been burned, and sat up awkwardly.
Their ears turned bright red, and for a moment they didn't know what to say.
