Disabled Childhood Sweetheart: A Humble Puppy Begs for the Young Lady's Pity

Chapter 99 Don't move, let me hold you for a while

"What?" Zhou Jingchen was a little surprised.

"After you left, she started having no appetite, and she would often vomit after eating a little. She lost four or five pounds in less than half a month. One night I got up to use the bathroom and saw her sitting alone on the sofa in the living room, hugging her knees and staring blankly. That's when your uncle and I realized that she hadn't slept for many nights."

"During that time, she was very emotionally sensitive. If I said something slightly harsh to your uncle, it could easily trigger her fragile nerves, and she would cry many times a day."

"I asked her why she couldn't sleep and what she was thinking, but she couldn't explain it herself."

"When I asked her if she missed you, she snapped and said no."

"Later, we had no choice but to take her to the brain hospital in Pingjiang for a checkup. The doctor said she was suffering from separation anxiety."

Zhou Jingchen's ears rang. "Separation...anxiety?"

Xiang Qin: "Yes, you two have lived and eaten together since you were little, you've never been apart. She probably couldn't handle it all at once, she couldn't cope with the emotional strain, and that's why she got sick."

"She didn't know any of this herself. She always thought she couldn't sleep because she had insomnia."

"The doctor prescribed medicine and told us that mental illness requires mental medicine."

Xiang Qin sighed softly, "At the time, your uncle and I were thinking that if we asked you to come back and see her, maybe her mood would improve."

Zhou Jingchen asked, "Why didn't you and Uncle tell me about this?"

Xiang Qin: "We called your home. Your grandma said you're at the hospital getting your leg checked out and you're busy with your studies, so you can't come."

Zhou Jingchen's mind went blank, and his heart was clenching painfully.

"Maybe your grandma didn't tell you. But luckily the medicine the doctor prescribed worked. Later, your uncle and I took her to other places to play and relax. We also put away all your things in the room so she wouldn't see them. Slowly, she got better..."

"Jingchen, don't blame your sister. Her feelings for you are deeper than anyone else's. She really treats you like her own brother."

Zhou Jingchen stood there like a log, taking a long time to come to his senses.

"How could I blame her, Auntie?"

......

After finishing her work that day, Wenxi was escorted to her apartment building by Jiang Qi.

Security guards patrol the upscale residential area every night. When they pass by, they wave to her with flashlights and call her "Miss Wen".

It was a chilly late autumn day, and she entered the elevator wrapped in a shawl.

A moment later, the elevator doors opened, and she stepped out. When she saw the man at the door, she stopped abruptly.

He leaned against the wall, his dark gray coat accentuating his tall stature and long legs. His handsome features looked somewhat tired, but his eyes brightened when he looked at her.

Zhou Jingchen stubbed out his cigarette on the trash can and stood up straight: "You're back."

"Hmm." Wenxi's heart was pounding. "What are you doing here?"

She took two steps forward without changing her expression, intending to open the door. As she got closer, she smelled the alcohol on him.

"I missed you, so I came to see you," he said.

The key was inserted into the lock, and Wenxi paused in her movements. The two were inches apart; he stood beside her, his gaze fixed on her without any attempt to conceal it.

She wore a light gray long dress with an apricot-colored cape shawl, the shawl was fuzzy, and her long hair was beautifully styled with big, wavy curls, giving her a gentle and graceful demeanor.

She curled her knuckles, glanced up at him, and said, "You're done looking. You can leave now."

"I haven't finished watching it yet, I can't get enough."

The corridor was quiet, and the deep, magnetic voice clearly reached her ears, like a pebble thrown into the center of a lake, creating ripples.

Her heart skipped a beat, and she bit her lip. "Zhou Jingchen, do you want to get beaten up?"

He replied, "Hmm, how did you know?"

Wen Xixuan turned the handle, intending to enter the door, when suddenly, a warm, large hand covered her with a cool, snow-white hand. "Sister."

Zhou Jingchen hugged her from behind, his tall body casting a warm shadow, holding her firmly in his arms.

She struggled a couple of times, but he tightened his grip on her, tilting his head to inhale the faint fragrance of her hair.

His warm breath and hoarse voice whispered in her ear, "Don't move, let me hold you for a while."

His chest pressed against her back, and his large hand cupped her slightly cool small hand in his own.

Wenxi could clearly feel his lean body, the heat of his skin, the strong beating of his heart, and the faint smell of alcohol on his body.

He said nothing, but gently stroked her slender, soft fingers with his fingertips, his breath brushing against her ear, the ambiguity growing ever stronger.

Wenxi's breathing became erratic, her heart was in turmoil, her nose felt sore and dry, and she even felt like crying.

A moment later, he turned his head and kissed her cheek, then released her. "Let's go inside."

Wenxi opened the door with trembling hands, without looking back at him once, straightening her back and reaching behind her to close the door.

After a while, I peeked out through the peephole again and saw that he had already left.

After staying in the hospital for more than half a month, the old lady of the Lu family returned to the villa. During that time, she went to Yushui Bay to cause trouble for Lu Yuanyuan quite a bit.

That day, Lu Zhenting returned to the villa.

The old woman said to him, "You're still not divorced?"

Lu Zhenting was taken aback. "Mom, do you really want me to divorce Yuanyuan?"

"That woman is an ingrate, what's so good about her? Our Lu family provided her with food, clothing, and education, and what did we get in return? She seduced you and became the Lu family's daughter-in-law!"

"Mom," Lu Zhenting said helplessly, "it wasn't her who seduced me, it's that I like her, and I forced her..."

"You're still defending her!" The old lady was so angry she almost jumped up.

"Since she wants a divorce, just divorce her. Mom will find you someone else!"

Lu Zhenting stared at her in disbelief. After a long silence, he spoke slowly and firmly, "Mom, I will not divorce Yuanyuan."

"Don't interfere in our affairs anymore, including Jingchen's."

"What do you mean by this?" The old woman walked up to him. "Are you trying to defy me?"

"Mom, Yuanyuan has suffered a lot of grievances in front of you all these years because of me. As her daughter-in-law, she has been dutiful and never disobeyed you."

"Now she wants a divorce. It's all my own fault. I'm sorry to her."

"Jingchen is not coming back. If you want to tear this family apart, then go ahead and do it."

After Lu Zhenting finished speaking, he went upstairs. The old lady was so angry that she drank several large bottles of calming oral liquid downstairs.
