National Survival: I Supported the Dragon Nation by Hunting Dinosaurs

[Global Announcement: Sacrifice Rankings Now Announced!]

......

[Eighth Place: Zhang Li, from China. Contribution: High-purity natural gold nugget (3.2kg)]

Zhang Li shook his head. Sure enough, the weight of the gold nugget was too low, which affected the final ranking.

.......

The rankings were announced one after another.

......

[Third Place: Li Yue, contestant from China, contribution: adult pig-crocodile.]

......

[First Place: Leng Feng, contestant from China, contributing: Quetzalcoatlus!]

At this moment, the world was shaken.

Originally, it was thought that Zhang Li had reached his limit by riding that female Quetzalcoatlus, but unexpectedly, they actually killed the male of that pair!

"Holy crap! Leng Feng is awesome!"

"The Dragon Kingdom team is defying the heavens! Riding dragons and slaying dragons, how are other countries supposed to compete?"

"Although Zhang Li has fallen out of the top five, China still firmly holds two of the top five spots!"

This is a good start to the weekly settlement for the second week!

……

In the camp of the Seventeen Nations Alliance.

The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder and blood, and occasionally the suppressed groans of the wounded could be heard.

Roland's eyes were bloodshot, as if he wanted to stare through the virtual screen in front of him.

Before him lay the carcass of a massive adult Triceratops, along with eight smaller dinosaurs of various kinds.

The blood on these prey had long since congealed, emitting a faint, fishy stench.

This was a hard-won victory for them.

As long as they make the sacrifice, they will definitely be at the top of the list today.

But now...

"ah--!!!"

Roland slammed the roasted meat in his hand at the useless mountain of corpses.

"Zhang Li! Zhang Li!!"

He now understood why Zhang Li had chosen that particular time to launch the airstrike.

The chaos created by those bombs falling from the sky perfectly timed out the final five minutes of the sacrifice.

They were fleeing the explosion, forgetting the most important thing.

Jason clutched his chest. He had been shielded by Park Seung-il, and although he hadn't died, he had suffered a considerable injury. Even the slightest breath caused him excruciating pain.

He looked at Roland, his face deathly pale: "Roland, we...we've been tricked."

Piercassonne leaned against the tree trunk, toying with the shrapnel from the broken grenade in his hand, his eyes filled with a terrifying gloom.

"I wasn't tricked."

Pierre Carson said quietly, "It's a case of being attacked from a lower dimension."

We're researching how to fight dinosaurs, while they've already started researching how to use dinosaurs for their own purposes!

……

In the real world, in the Dragon Kingdom.

At this time, the land of the Dragon Kingdom was undergoing earth-shaking changes.

The revitalized land was not directly used for arable land, but rather more woodland was planted to promote ecological restoration!

The Dragon Kingdom is proving to the world that this game is not just about survival, but also about rebuilding our homeland.

However, behind all this prosperity, the atmosphere inside the Dragon Kingdom's highest biological research institute was so heavy it was suffocating.

This is the place with the highest security level in the entire country.

Researcher Li is currently hunched over an electron microscope.

His hands were trembling slightly.

Those cloudy old eyes were filled with shock, even... fear.

"How's it going, Mr. Li? Did you check the data?"

Beside him, a middle-aged man in military uniform asked anxiously.

Researcher Li straightened up and rubbed his throbbing temples.

"Director Wang, this...this completely overturns all our understanding of paleontology over the past century."

He pointed to a gene map on the big screen.

That was a DNA sequence extracted from a "newborn Shu Dragon" cub, compared with a sample extracted from the corpse of a Quetzalcoatlus.

"We compared DNA fragments from the fossil remains of the Shu Dragon unearthed on Earth with the skeletal structure genes of the Quetzalcoatlus."

"The similarity is only 97%."

Director Wang frowned: "97%? Doesn't that mean it's the same species? A little variation is normal during species evolution, isn't it?"

"No, that's not normal."

Researcher Li pulled up another image: "Look here."

That's a diagram of chromosome arrangement.

"Reptiles on Earth, including what we speculate about as dinosaurs, typically have a fixed number of chromosome pairs. However, the dinosaurs that Zhang Li and his team brought back..."

Researcher Li took a deep breath: "There's one more pair."

"Another pair?"

"That's right, the 24th pair of chromosomes." Researcher Li's eyes turned fervent.

"This pair of chromosomes is extremely active in gene expression, and we are not yet able to fully understand its function."

Preliminary observations suggest that it seems to endow these organisms with cellular repair capabilities and environmental adaptability far exceeding those of Earth's organisms, although activation is only possible under specific conditions!

"Even more terrifying is the Quetzalcoatlus."

"Its bone density is 30% higher than that shown by terrestrial fossils, but it is 10% lighter."

This is almost a paradox in physics, unless... its skeletal molecular arrangement is not the conventional hexagonal of carbon-based organisms, but a more stable octagon!

Director Wang was confused, but he astutely grasped the key points.

"Professor Li, please give me your conclusion."

Researcher Li turned around and slowly uttered a sentence.

"The conclusion is... the 'prehistoric world' where Zhang Li and the others lived was not the past of Earth at all."

"Those creatures just look like dinosaurs."

"That place... is most likely a parallel universe in a different dimension! Or perhaps a testing ground created by some higher-dimensional civilization!"

Parallel universe.

This concept, which only exists in science fiction novels, has now been placed on the table of national strategy.

If that's a parallel universe, then who exactly is behind the so-called "national survival"?

Blue Star's Will?

Or is it something even more terrifying?

Director Wang felt a chill run down his spine.

If we could unravel the secrets of the 24th pair of chromosomes...

"Block the news."

Director Wang immediately declared: "All data regarding chromosomes and skeletal structure is to be classified as top secret! Anyone who leaks even a single word will be charged with treason!"
