Yu Chen's fingers paused on her hair for a moment, then continued to twirl it.

"Beiyuan has withdrawn his troops." His tone was indifferent. "Qi Zexun is dead."

Su Wuli felt that something was off.

Yu Chen's explanation was too simplistic.

She couldn't help but lift her head from his chest and look into his eyes.

The man's face remained expressionless as he glanced down at her.

He then swept the strand of hair on her shoulder behind her back and continued to twirl it.

"How did he die?" she asked.

Yu Chen's fingers didn't stop. "I killed him."

He didn't look at Yu Chen when he spoke; his eyes were fixed on the strand of hair on her shoulder.

Su Wuli knew he was telling the truth, but not all of it.

She opened her mouth as if to ask something else.

Feng Xi's voice rang out from outside the tent, "Your Highness, the deputy generals are already waiting in the main tent."

Su Wuli swallowed her words.

Yu Chen brushed the strand of hair from her shoulder and pulled it behind her back, then responded with a soft "Mm".

Then he looked down at her and said, "Sleep a little longer."

"Okay." She nodded in agreement.

After saying that, Yu Chen threw off the covers, got out of bed, and put on his outer robe.

Su Wuli buried her face in the pillow and turned her head to look at his back.

After getting dressed, Yu Chen turned around and glanced at her.

She lay face down on the pillow with her hair disheveled, the blanket covering her body except for her eyes.

He walked over, bent down, and reached out to tuck the stray hairs from her forehead behind her ear.

"Wait for me to return."

"Um."

Su Wuli stretched her hand out from under the covers and touched the back of his hand.

Yu Chen took her hand and tucked it back into the blanket, making sure the corner of the blanket was covered.

Then he stood up, lifted the curtain, and went outside.

The curtains were drawn, keeping the wind out.

Su Wuli lay there for a while, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

She threw back the covers and sat up.

She took off her outer robe, which was draped over the screen, and put it on, fastening the belt.

When the curtain was lifted, a cold wind hit her face, and she squinted.

The snow outside has stopped, and the ground is covered in white.

The footprints were mostly covered by the new snow.

She walked toward the main tent.

Several soldiers walked over from the opposite side and noticed that she slowed her pace.

The soldier lowered his head, then looked up at her again.

Then it went down again.

Their footsteps were much quieter than before as they walked past Su Wuli, as if afraid of startling something.

Su Wuli sensed something was wrong, but she continued walking forward anyway.

But this feeling grew stronger and stronger, and those gazes on her back, though not malicious, were directed at her.

But it was obvious that he was secretly observing her.

She couldn't quite put her finger on what it was.

As she walked, she suddenly remembered that she had suddenly disappeared from Qi Zexun's arms on the battlefield.

Tens of thousands of eyes were watching from the front lines of the two armies.

Su Wuli didn't know how to explain this, nor could she explain it.

They probably think she's some kind of witch.

Thinking of this, I quickened my pace.

Turning past a tent, two soldiers squatted in a sheltered spot by a fire.

The flames were small and were blown about by the wind.

Just as Su Wuli was about to go around, she heard one of them speak.

"It's good that Young Master Su is alright. I was really scared that day on the front lines..." He lowered his voice, but he didn't deliberately avoid anyone.

"What are you afraid of? She's a fairy; that madman Kitahara can't hurt her."

Another threw the branch he was holding into the fire, saying, "It was good that Qi Zexun chopped off that hand; that's how a prince should be."

"What's so bad about chopping off your hands?"

"A prince reduced to that state." The man remained silent for a moment.

"He brought it on himself. He held a knife to Young Master Su's neck. He should have known this day would come when he was on the battlefield."

“Who says otherwise?” another person added fuel to the fire.

"The prince is truly enraged this time. In the past, when fighting, prisoners were either killed or released. This time, they are locked up, neither allowed to die nor allowed to live, just left to endure."

"If Kitahara hadn't surrendered, he probably wouldn't have gotten his comeuppance; he'd probably still be suffering a fate worse than death."

The flame flickered.

"I heard that in the end, people from the other side came and took him back; they carried him back on a door panel."

"It's good enough that we can carry it back. If Your Highness were any more hard-hearted, you wouldn't even give us the door."

Su Wuli listened to the conversation and, after going through it several times, roughly understood what was going on.

This might be why Yu Chen wouldn't tell her.

She continued walking forward.

They arrived at the main tent.

The curtains were then drawn.

Shadow Falcon stood outside the tent flap. When he saw her approaching, he paused for a moment, then nodded.

"Young Master Su."

"Good morning," Su Wuli greeted him with a smile.

Shadow Falcon smiled as well.

Su Wuli stopped beside him and tucked her hands into her sleeves.

wait.

As soon as the tent flap was lifted, several lieutenants filed out.

The person walking at the front paused for a moment when he saw her.

The lieutenant behind him also saw it and slowed his pace.

A few people stood there, looking at each other.

It seemed like they didn't quite know how to react.

Feng Xi squeezed out from the back and was also stunned for a moment.

Su Wuli raised her hand, spread her fingers, and waved them at him twice.

I greeted him with a smile, "Good morning."

Feng Xi looked at her hand and this time returned the greeting with practiced ease.

The lieutenant next to him looked at him and nodded in agreement.

He tapped very hard.

The lieutenant at the front turned his gaze away from Feng Xi and looked at Su Wuli, raising his hand in a similar gesture.

He swayed twice, his movements so stiff it didn't seem like a greeting, but rather like he was trying to imitate a move he didn't know.

Then the others raised their hands and waved them twice, one after another.

Like a flock of trained parrots.

Su Wuli couldn't help but burst out laughing when she saw their expressions.

After the person left, she lifted the curtain and went inside.

Yu Chen was sitting behind a low table. He looked up when he heard the noise.

He frowned slightly. "Why didn't you sleep a little longer?"

Su Wuli walked over and sat down next to him, placing her hands on her knees.

Yu Chen looked at her face, his gaze lingering on her for a moment.

"I can't sleep," Su Wuli replied.

As soon as he finished speaking, the man reached out and pulled her into his arms, making her sit on his lap.

Su Wuli leaned against him, placed her hand on the back of his hand, and gently rubbed her fingers against it a few times.

After hesitating for a moment, he finally spoke, "I know about Qi Zexun's matter."

As soon as he finished speaking, the large hand around her waist tightened a little.

Su Wuli turned the man's hand over and tucked her fingers between his.

"Do you think I'm cruel?" Yu Chen asked.

She shook her head and rubbed her face against his neck.

"On the battlefield, I can give others a quick death," he explained in a low voice, "but not him, he touched you."

Su Wuli didn't speak, burying her face in the crook of his neck.

Her hand was still holding his fingers.

Yu Chen's fingers slowly rubbed against the back of her hand.

He then hugged her tightly, resting his chin on the top of her head.

Su Wuli lay on his chest.

After a moment, Yu Chen put Su Wuli down from his lap and let her stand on the ground.

He stood up. "I'll take you out of camp to play."

Upon hearing this, Su Wuli was taken aback. "Won't there be any danger?"
