Just as Chang Kun was standing in front of Yang Wei, pondering how to deal with the kid, a commotion arose in the distance.

"Kun-di! Hang in there! I'm coming!"

"Anyone who dares to bully Chang Kun won't be leaving here today!"

Chang Kun was taken aback and turned around to look.

Hongxia and Wenwen rode a bicycle together and charged over aggressively.

Hongxia was holding the steering wheel in front, while Wenwen sat in the back seat, her arms wrapped around Hongxia's waist. Her face was pale, whether from fright or the wind, it was hard to tell.

A long line of people followed behind, all riding bicycles, and they were all young, around twenty years old.

Some were wearing military uniforms and caps, some had their clothes open, and some had military water bottles hanging on their handlebars, the wind making their clothes flutter.

The bicycle bells jingled and clanged, like a company of bicycle cavalry.

Chang Kun understood at a glance.

These two girls aren't stupid. Afraid of getting beaten up and knowing they couldn't help, they went to call for backup.

Judging from their attire and demeanor, these people are probably all second-generation rich kids from the compound.

Hongxia has a good ability to rally people; she's managed to put together such a team.

As the convoy approached, the screeching and rattling of brakes echoed throughout the vehicle.

Hongxia braked suddenly, her bicycle blocking Chang Kun's path. She braced herself with one foot on the ground, panting heavily, her face flushed red.

Wenwen jumped off the back seat, her legs were a little weak, and she had to hold onto the seat to steady herself.

Hongxia jumped out of the car, took two steps to Chang Kun, looked him up and down, and breathed a sigh of relief when she found that he wasn't even scratched.

Wenwen, standing behind, had already scolded Yang Wei: "This is between the two of us, don't cause trouble for Chang Kun!"

Neither of them noticed the several people lying on the ground groaning in pain, nor did they see that Yang Wei's face was deathly pale, clearly showing his guilty conscience.

Chang Kun stopped the two and addressed Yang Wei: "What's wrong? The main character has arrived. Quickly apologize to Wenwen and Sister Hongxia!"

Yang Wei's legs went weak, but he forced himself to remain silent.

"What's wrong? You're a grown man, you don't do any work yourself, you push it all onto Wenwen, a young woman, and now you don't want to apologize?"

When the people behind Yang Wei heard that the fight was for this reason, they booed.

I never expected Yang Wei to do something like this, and even have his own people back him up.

The crowd immediately dispersed, some pushing carts out, others turning their faces away.

With no one to back him up, Yang Wei felt even more guilty.

He glanced at Wenwen and Hongxia, lowered his head, and said in a voice so soft it was barely audible, "I was wrong about this, and I apologize to you."

Chang Kun wasn't about to let him off the hook: "You're a grown man, you can do those jobs yourself, why are you making trouble for Wenwen? Don't you know she's a martyr's family member?"

Upon hearing the words "family members of martyrs," those who hadn't finished leaving erupted in even greater uproar.

"Bullying the family of a martyr? Are you even human?"

"Her parents sacrificed themselves for the country, and you treat her like this?"

"Yang Wei, you're a real scoundrel!"

"Beating him would be too lenient!"

These days, you can't mess with the families of martyrs. Anyone who dares to bully them is someone everyone should kill.

Yang Wei hung his head, his voice even softer: "I...I wanted Wenwen to help with the chores so I could get closer to her..."

He didn't say why he was approaching her, but everyone present understood.

Someone spat and said, "He likes someone but doesn't help them, and even harasses them maliciously. What a fucking weirdo!"

"Don't ever say I know anyone like you again!"

Hongxia was so angry that her eyebrows stood on end. She rushed forward and delivered a groin kick, striking Yang Wei right between the legs.

"Aww!!"

Yang Wei let out a scream, bent over, and his face turned a deep purplish-red.

Hongxia cursed under her breath, "Damn it, you dare to lay a finger on my woman!"

Chang Kun's eyes widened.

Sister Hongxia is really bold, shouting such a thing out in public.

To his surprise, the people around him didn't react and continued to curse at Yang Wei.

They probably assumed that Hongxia had spoken recklessly in anger, and no one thought that way.

One of the young men who had come with Hongxia joined in beating Yang Wei when he saw Hongxia make a move.

After a few punches, Yang Wei's face was bruised and swollen, and blood was seeping from the corner of his mouth.

Hongxia, however, was unmoved. She glared at the man and sneered, "Gangzi, I didn't call you here. What are you doing here? All you do is bully the people on the ground."

The man's face flushed red: "I was just worried you'd be in danger..."

"Ha! What a joke! Do I need your protection?"

Hongxia gestured to Chang Kun: "This is my brother. Look at all these people on the ground, he's the one who knocked them all down."

Chang Kun remained silent, watching with a smile.

Gangzi clearly has a crush on Hongxia, and Hongxia is holding Wenwen's arm.

This play is quite interesting.

The group of martial arts practitioners from the overpass who were wielding knives on the ground tried to sneak away when no one was looking.

Chang Kun stepped forward and blocked the way.

"Hey guys, you know my name now, right? You all recognize me. I work at the train station. If you want to get revenge, you're welcome anytime."

He paused, his voice turning cold.

"However, if you want to play dirty tricks, don't blame the bullets for being blind. You can go and ask around and find out how many spies I've arrested."

The martial arts practitioners on the ground cried out that they dared not.

Today we witnessed Chang Kun's kung fu firsthand, and that pepper spray that appeared out of nowhere made these grown men shed tears and snot all over the place—it was incredibly embarrassing.

The group dispersed, grumbling and cursing.

Yang Wei was carried away by two people, his shoes scraping against the stone slabs, leaving streaks of gray.

Hongxia repeatedly thanked the group of people they brought.

Gangzi, the leader, waved his hand and said, "Even if Hongxia didn't call for help, we can't let others bully our family of martyrs."

Several people nearby nodded in agreement, chattering amongst themselves.

"That's right, matters concerning the families of martyrs are everyone's matters."

"That kid Yang Wei deserved to be taught a lesson; we let him off easy today."

Hongxia turned around and looked Chang Kun up and down, her eyes full of surprise.

"I didn't realize you were such a good fighter, bro! You're even better than my dad."

Forty or fifty people, including a few martial arts experts from Tianqiao, were not only taken down by Chang Kun, but the others didn't dare to utter a single word.

If I had known this would happen, why did I even agree to fight Yang Wei? I could have just let my brother teach him a lesson.

Gangzi stood to the side, still stubbornly refusing to admit it.

"I'd be willing to do it myself!"

Hongxia laughed heartily: "Don't I know your skill level? We've been fighting since we were kids, when have you ever beaten me?"

Gangzi's face flushed red: "Well... well, I was just letting you win!"

This young man was in his early twenties, quite tall, more than half a head taller than Hongxia, and had a strong build; he looked like half an iron tower when he stood there.

He stood next to Hongxia, unsure of what to do with his hands, sometimes putting them in his pockets, sometimes taking them out, exuding a sense of unease.

As everyone else left, he lingered and refused to leave.

"Well, Hongxia, is there anything else I can do for you? No questions asked!"

Hongxia glanced at him sideways: "You? Come on, all you do is eat and sleep, what can you possibly do?"

"I can do anything! Just tell me!"

Hongxia's eyes darted around: "Alright! My dad's been worried lately, saying there's a food shortage everywhere. If you can get a large amount of food, then you'll be really capable."

Gangzi was dumbfounded.

If you can't even tell the difference between wheat seedlings and rice straw, how are you going to get food?

After stammering for a while, she managed to squeeze out a sentence: "Then... then can't I just eat less every day?"

Hongxia rolled her eyes, too lazy to pay him any attention.
