Chapter 359 Fulfilling the Promise
Two hours later, at the north gate of Ironforge.
The core elite team of the Flower Language Guild, consisting of ten members, had been waiting here for half an hour. Guild leader Flower Language Xiao Feng stood at the front, having specially changed into a set of smart leather armor today, making her look extremely heroic.
The nineteen members behind her were all pillars of the guild, ranging in level from level 37 to level 40. They were whispering amongst themselves, their faces brimming with barely suppressed excitement and curiosity.
"Guild Master, where do you think the 'Seeing Flowers in the Fog' master will take us to level up? Is there some kind of hidden map?" a female mage named "Flower Language, Firefly" asked.
"I bet he's going to run some high-level dungeon," said the shield warrior Huayu and Panshi in a deep voice. "With his strength, it shouldn't be difficult for him to speedrun a level 40 dungeon for us."
"I'd rather do some kind of epic quest chain; the rewards for that are much better."
Hua Yu and Xiao Feng listened to the group members' speculations without saying a word. She knew better than anyone that Li Wu's way of doing things could never be judged by common sense.
Just then, a figure walked out of the city at a leisurely pace.
There was no entourage, no dazzling lighting effects, just one person.
It was Li Wu.
The members of the Flower Language Guild immediately fell silent, and all eyes were on him.
Li Wu walked up to them, stopped, and glanced around.
"They're all here?"
"President of the Fog-Viewing-Flowers Association, all of us are here." Hua Yu and Xiao Feng stepped forward.
"Okay." Li Wu nodded and got straight to the point, "Destination: Howling Abyss. Objective: Everyone must reach level 43 within three days."
A desolate abyss?
The name of this place caused a slight change in the expressions of several members of the Flower Language Guild. It was a level 45 map adjacent to the Cursed Land, known for its high monster density and hordes of elite monsters, a death zone that all guilds currently strictly forbid their members from setting foot in.
Where should I level up? And it takes three more days to reach level 43?
"Guild Leader... is this goal...?" Huayu_Panshi hesitated. The highest level in their team was only level 40. If they went to a level 45 map, their damage would be reduced by more than half due to the level suppression. Let alone leveling up, it would be difficult to even survive.
Li Wu glanced at him, offered no explanation, and only said one sentence.
"You only have one task."
"Keep up, pick up the stuff."
After saying that, he turned and walked towards the teleportation array.
The ten members of the Flower Language Guild exchanged bewildered glances. Finally, Flower Language_Xiao Feng gritted her teeth and said, "Everyone, follow!"
……
A flash of light appeared, and the eleven people appeared at an abandoned outpost in front of the Howling Abyss.
A chilling wind, carrying the stench of decay, swept over them, and a heavy, oppressive whisper filled the air. Everyone stopped in their tracks as soon as they stepped outside the outpost's perimeter.
Ahead lay a vast black swamp. As far as the eye could see, there were countless twisted figures.
Hundreds and thousands of level 45 elite monsters, "Abyssal Wraiths," and level 46 "Swamp Lurkers" wandered aimlessly, their scarlet eyes forming a terrifying sea of stars in the dim environment.
"My God..." Hua Yu and Liu Ying instinctively gripped their staff, their palms sweating profusely. "How... how are we supposed to fight this?"
Let alone fighting, just looking at this scene makes one's scalp tingle and legs go weak.
Stand behind me.
Li Wu's calm voice came from behind him. He walked forward alone for more than ten meters and stopped less than fifty meters away from the monster horde.
The members of the Flower Language Guild watched his retreating figure nervously, not understanding what he was planning to do.
Then, they saw Li Wu draw his bow.
There was no earth-shattering display, no dazzling light. A dark red singularity gathered on his bowstring, small and inconspicuous, like a distant dead star in the night sky.
The next second, the Death Star was launched.
Silently.
It flew into the area where the monsters were most concentrated, and then...
There was no explosion, no roar.
A massive, dark red domain silently unfolded, enveloping all the monsters within a twenty-meter diameter. Then, the domain collapsed inward, swallowing up light and sound.
One second later, the domain disappeared.
All that remained was a huge, smooth crater with glass-like edges.
There was nothing in the pit.
Hundreds of elite monsters, along with the swamp beneath their feet, were completely wiped off this world.
The ten members of the Flower Language Guild were all petrified.
Their mouths were agape, their eyes were wide open like saucers, and their minds were completely blank.
Only when the sky was filled with rain of experience points and the dazzling light of dropped equipment, cascading down like a waterfall, did they regain the ability to breathe.
"Pick up...something." Li Wu's voice broke the silence from ahead, "The next wave will refresh in twenty seconds."
This team, composed of the most elite members of the Flower Language Guild, was completely transformed into a professional scavenging squad over the next 72 hours.
On the first day, they were in disarray.
Li Wu's monster-clearing efficiency exceeded their comprehension. Often, just a second after clearing an area, they would rush in to pick up the loot, but before they had even finished collecting half of it, Li Wu would already be on the other side, drawing his bow and instantly vaporizing the monsters in the second area.
"Hurry! The rare materials over there are about to disappear!"
"Never mind that! There are skill books here!"
"Who has enough mana? Throw me a speed boost! I'm too short to run that far!"
The team was in complete chaos, but everyone's experience bars were skyrocketing at an incredible speed. A few hours later, everyone broke through level 40.
The next day, they found the trick.
Hua Yu and Xiao Feng forcibly assigned roles. Two people were responsible for the left side, two for the right side, one for support in the middle, and the rest were ready to fill in at any time.
Instead of trying to understand Li Wu's injuries, they devoted all their energy to the great task of "how to pick up loot faster, more accurately, and more efficiently."
An interesting thing happened during that time.
A level 47 elite Abyss Ripper spawned on the flank of the team. As the tank, Rock roared and charged forward with his shield raised.
He had only rushed halfway when a thin, white beam of light, as thin as a hair, swept past his ear.
The elite monster, which had over 100,000 HP, froze, its massive body splitting in the middle and dissipating into specks of light.
Rock remained in his charging stance, frozen in place for a full five seconds, before silently putting away his shield and turning to join the ranks of those picking up items.
Since then, no one has ever considered exporting again.
On the third day, as the first rays of sunlight shone into reality (though the Abyss of Screams is always overcast), the last member of the team was also illuminated by the golden light of his upgrade.
"Ding!"
The crisp system notification sound seemed to announce the end of an era.
The ten members of the Flower Language Guild collapsed to the ground almost simultaneously, too exhausted to move a single finger. Their bodies ached, and they were listless, but each of their faces radiated a kind of ecstatic joy after exhaustion.
Flower Language, Little Phoenix struggled to her feet and opened her attribute panel.
Level: LV43.
She glanced at the team list again, and it was all "LV43".
Three days.
It really only took three days.
She looked up at the figure still standing straight not far away. Li Wu was wiping his arcane bow, as if the seventy-two hours of non-stop high-intensity slaughter he had just endured was merely an after-dinner stroll.
"We...did it." Hua Yu and Xiao Feng's voice was a little hoarse.
"Hmm." Li Wu put away his bow. "The promise has been kept."
After he finished speaking, he turned around and prepared to leave.
"Master!" Hua Yu and Xiao Feng quickly called out to him, "Where are you going?"
Li Wu's steps did not stop.
"Go and level up by 100."
As soon as he finished speaking, his figure disappeared into the light of the teleportation outpost.
Only the ten members of the Flower Language Guild remained, sitting amidst the mountain of spoils, speechless for a long time. Looking at their newly upgraded levels, and recalling that departing figure, only one thought remained in their minds.
They and he might not be playing the same game.
