Chapter 116 Powerful Sacred Relics Galore!
Chapter 119 Powerful Sacred Relics Galore!
Upon hearing this, Su Long smiled slightly, showing no surprise.
After all, other exorcists have to invest their soul power to form a contract, while for him, it's just another entry in his vocabulary.
Su Long remained calm and casually made up a story: "It's just a little bit of effort and a little bit of sweat."
"
Upon hearing this, Kurt snorted coldly, clearly not believing this explanation, but he did not press further: "Since you can withstand it, that's your skill."
Kurt muttered something, then refocused his attention on the three relics on the tray.
He first picked up the "Sirius," skillfully removed the magazine, and inspected the inside of the barrel. Since it and the "Raphael" had been serviced by him many times, he knew their internal structure like the back of his hand.
In just two minutes, Kurt put down "Sirius" and picked up Raphael, quickly inspected it, and gave his evaluation.
"These two old buddies are in pretty stable condition, even stronger than before. It seems you get along well with them and are quite willing to invest in them."
Then, his gaze turned to the brass knuckles "Lucas" on the far right, and he carefully reached out to pick them up and examined them closely.
A full six minutes passed before Kurt put the brass knuckles back on the tray, took off his monocle, and let out a long breath, his expression extremely complex.
"How wonderful!"
Kurt muttered to himself.
Surong noticed his unusual behavior and asked, "Is there something wrong with this sacred object?"
Kurt shook his head, his gaze still fixed on the brass knuckles: "There's nothing wrong with it, it's just—it's unbelievable."
He raised his head and looked directly at Surong: "I can tell that it is a newly born sacred object, and its creation time is definitely no more than half a month ago."
Dania chimed in, "What's wrong with a newly created sacred object? Does that mean a newly created one isn't powerful?"
Kurt took a deep breath and exclaimed in amazement, "Even sacred objects need time to grow, but this one—though newly born, contains extremely powerful and pure power."
"I have seen many ancient sacred objects that have been passed down for ten or even a hundred years. They have absorbed a lot of faith and spirituality over the long years, but even so, few of them can possess such a powerful spiritual aura as this brass knuckle."
Kurt pointed to the patterns on the knuckle duster's surface: "Its foundation is too good. As long as you keep feeding it with high-intensity combat and mithril, its growth potential is beyond my estimation."
Surong wasn't surprised by Kurt's explanation. After all, this was his first three-star relic, costing him so many experience points and a precious mithril coin; its power was to be expected.
He cut to the chase: "Can you do maintenance for it?"
Kurt grinned, revealing a fervent smile: "Of course! To personally nurture such a new sacred relic with limitless potential—just thinking about it is exhilarating!"
"However, this brass knuckle is too spiritually active, and it may consume more than twice the amount of holy oil as a normal sacred object. It won't be available for two thousand US dollars."
How much do you need?
"Friendly price, seven thousand US dollars, three items together," Kurt quoted the price.
Su Long nodded without hesitation: "Deal. How long will it take?"
"Half an hour, maintenance is quick." Kurt said as he pulled a heavy black toolbox from under the worktable and placed it on the workbench.
The lid pops open, revealing hundreds of disassembly tools of various sizes neatly arranged inside, ranging from precision screwdrivers to specially made clamps.
Then, he carefully took out a transparent glass jar from a hidden compartment at the deepest part of the counter.
In Su Long's spiritual vision, he discovered that the liquid inside the jar was emitting an extremely dazzling spiritual light, a light that was pure and intense, far surpassing that of ordinary holy water.
Seeing the curiosity on their faces, Kurt took the initiative to explain, "This is a good thing. It's a solution made by dissolving mithril in holy water and then mixing it with mineral oil in a special ratio. We call it holy oil, and it's the best material for maintaining sacred objects."
As he spoke, Kurt put on his antique monocle and his special dust-free gloves. He first picked up "Sirius" and used tools to disassemble it into a pile of intricate mechanical parts, arranging them in order. Next was "Raphael," where the lid, inner liner, and outer shell were separated one by one.
Kurt then brought over a basin of clean water and rinsed each metal part briefly to remove the dust and grime from its surface, before drying it with a clean cotton cloth.
Next, Kurt took out a soft velvet leather, unscrewed the lid of the glass jar, poured out a little holy oil and applied it to the surface of the leather, then picked up a part with tweezers and began to wipe it evenly.
Sulong maintained his spiritual vision and saw that as Kurt wiped the parts, which had been faintly glowing, burst forth with a strong spiritual aura, clearly having received great nourishment.
Just as Kurt was concentrating on wiping the parts, Dania's phone suddenly vibrated. She answered the phone, exchanged a few words with the person on the other end, and then hung up, looking apologetically at Suron.
"Su, I'm so sorry, a client has encountered an emergency and urgently needs my help. I have to leave immediately."
Su Long waved his hand, looking relaxed: "It's alright, work is important, you go ahead and get busy."
Dania looked at Surong with some concern and said, "But how will you get back later? The old town is not like other parts of the city; it's not convenient to take a taxi there."
"Don't worry, even if it's inconvenient, it's still easier to get a taxi than in the villa area. At worst, I'll just walk to the main road and then hail a taxi; there will always be one there," Su Long replied with a smile.
Dania nodded upon hearing this, then turned and left the workshop via the stairs.
The workshop fell silent again, with only the soft scraping sound of Kurt wiping metal remaining.
Suron turned back to continue observing Kurt's work.
It must be said that Kurt's technique was extremely skillful. Every movement was smooth and fluid, and the force was just right. The complex mechanical parts seemed to come alive in his hands, obediently cooperating with his movements. Su Long was so engrossed in watching that he even forgot the time.
After an unknown amount of time, a sudden, urgent doorbell ring broke the tranquility of the workshop.
Surong snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look at the door. Kurt also stopped what he was doing, put down the suede and parts, and strode over to the monitoring console. He skillfully flipped a few buttons and adjusted the angle of the external camera.
The surveillance footage showed the figure of a young woman. She was wearing a light gray long-sleeved T-shirt and dark blue slim-fit jeans. This casual and simple style perfectly highlighted the curves of her body. She stood in front of the dilapidated wooden door, looking somewhat embarrassed.
Kurt pressed the call button on his communicator, and a rough voice rang out in the alley: "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
Hannah was startled by the sudden voice and quickly spoke into the communicator beside her, "Hello, Captain Elena introduced me."
Upon hearing the name "Elena," Kurt hesitated for a moment, his hand hovering over the door open button, but he didn't press it immediately.
Looking at Hannah on the screen, Surong said, "This is also my friend, Hannah. She's just an ordinary girl, nothing to threaten."
Kurt frowned, glanced at Su Long to make sure he wasn't joking, then reached out and pressed the red button next to him, instructing, "Don't touch that wooden door, get down from that metal trash can over there."
Inside the box, Hannah watched in surprise as the trash can in front of her transformed into a downward passage, but she still chose to follow Kurt's instructions and carefully stepped onto the downward-extending metal staircase.
Heavy footsteps echoed down the stairs. Hannah descended and entered the underground workshop. The unfamiliar environment made her feel somewhat timid and nervous, but her eyes lit up immediately when she saw Suron standing by the control panel.
"Suron, I didn't expect to see you here." Hannah walked over quickly, her tone clearly surprised.
Seeing her like this, Su Long teased, "What's wrong? Did Elena introduce you here?"
Hannah nodded repeatedly and explained, "Yes. Didn't you give me a mithril coin yesterday? I didn't know how to use it, so Captain Elena told me to come to this address to find a professional for help."
Suron turned around and found that Kurt had returned to the workbench at some point and was continuing to maintain the parts.
Surong pointed to Kurt and introduced him to Hannah: "Let me introduce you. This is Kurt McCormick, Seattle's top artifact craftsman. This is Hannah, my friend."
Kurt didn't even look up, only letting out a soft "hmm" through his nose in response, while his hands continued to rapidly wipe and maintain the parts.
Kurt quickly reassembled the repaired parts, placed them on a tray, and pushed it to Surong, letting out a long sigh of relief: "Done, give it a try."
Su Long reached out and picked up "Sirius". The feeling was completely different. The surface of the gun was shiny and smooth to the touch. The faint smell of gunpowder was replaced by a faint holy aura.
With a flick of the pin, the cylinder hummed smoothly without any hesitation. Pulling the trigger produced a crisp and powerful firing of the firing pin, the entire mechanical structure working perfectly.
He then checked "Raphael" and "Lucas" again, and they were in excellent condition as well. He nodded in satisfaction, put away the three relics, and paid by card.
Kurt glanced at Hannah standing to the side, looked her up and down, and asked, "So, little girl, what brings you here?"
Hannah took a deep breath, took out the heavy Bible and a mithril coin from her handbag, carefully placed them on the counter, and said, "Mr. Kurt, I heard that you can enhance sacred objects here. I would like to ask you to enhance this Bible for me."
"Put the things up here." Kurt nodded and pointed to the red cloth tray on the counter.
Hannah carefully placed the Bible in the center of the tray, and gently placed the mithril coin that emitted a faint glow next to it.
Kurt glanced down at the Bible, his body stiffening instantly. He then looked up abruptly at Hannah, his expression one of shock. "Young lady, where did you get this sacred object?"
Hannah was startled by his appearance and involuntarily turned to look at Sulong beside her, her eyes questioning.
Surong met Hannah's gaze and nodded slightly.
Seeing this, Hannah relaxed her tense shoulders slightly and said truthfully, "This Bible originally belonged to the first bishop of Cedar Ridge Church. It was used to suppress a demonic incarnation in the church's well, but it was corrupted. Later, we purified the Bible and destroyed the demonic incarnation, and this Bible also recognized me."
Upon hearing this, Kurt shook his head and exclaimed, "To see two such powerful sacred objects in one day, I'm really lucky today."
