Chapter 153 She's simply a genius
Yunevo stepped back slightly, giving up the main position, his gaze sweeping over the shelves piled high with test tubes, finally settling on Iseria.
The latter calmed her slightly rapid breathing caused by the little farce just now. She first walked to the boiler on the left that was responsible for the first stage of extraction, her fingertips shining with a sky-blue glow as she tried to capture the fleeting boiling point of the potion.
Lilith, however, has remained silent.
In her bright red pupils, every mark on the boiler shell, even the frequency of the pressure relief valve's movement, seemed to be disassembled and separated, transformed into "instinct" flowing in her blood.
She simply stepped forward and stopped in front of the high-pressure boiler in the middle, her fingers lightly resting on the injection valve, as if waiting for something.
"Ice Breath Grass, twelve milliliters—" Iseria muttered unconsciously, following her memory.
Lilith's movements were incredibly swift, almost immediately following her words!
"Click," the valve switch clicked, producing an extremely crisp sound.
Although Yunevo was sitting in the shadows, slacking off, everything happening inside the device was seen through his "Spirit Vision" and his "Resonance Grass's" perspective.
Inside the pipe, the pale blue liquid formed a near-perfect tangent with the rising curve inside the boiler!
The slowly injected liquid did not cause the slightest pressure fluctuation.
"Wrong? This—" Iseria's eyes widened slightly as she stared at the unmoving pressure pointer on the test chart.
Normally, alchemists need to rely on experience to constantly adjust the pressure relief valve to maintain the balance of the entire high-pressure injection process—but what Lilith did just now was clearly not "normal."
The pale-haired girl tapped her head to regain her composure and continued to take on the task of "overall coordination." She even divided her attention in two, controlling the magical energy output of the boiler on one hand and keeping a close eye on Lilith's progress on the other.
"Hmm—neutralize the powder, then watch the temperature, Lilith."
Iseria turned to remind her, but little did she know that the silver-haired girl had already taken the mortar and pestle containing the grayish-white powder into her hand.
The latter's grinding action is just like that of a high-end machine placed in a laboratory, with the angle and force of each stroke being exactly the same—even the arc of the powder being poured into the inlet is exactly the same!
At the very moment the powder dissolved into the liquid, Lilith's other hand was even placed directly against the scalding hot outer wall of the boiler!
Sizzle—!
Pale golden blood seeped out again along her stitches, but Lilith's delicate face remained completely expressionless!
Iseria's lips parted slightly. Although this was not the first time she had seen Lilith conduct experiments in such a "self-harming" way, she still felt her heart clench.
At first, Yunevo didn't speak, but just looked at the red lines that tightly sealed more pale golden blood beneath Lilith's skin.
"Wayne Forest————"
He murmured softly, but a memory that wasn't his own kept replaying in his mind—
A little girl with blood on her hands, a bag of needles and thread, and a worn but spotless doll.
The loss of pain sensation is precisely the tragedy of this creation being stripped of its function as a "tool".
The magical energy fluctuations within the laboratory began to become chaotic, and even the air was filled with the bitter smell of herbs carbonized by the high temperature.
"This synthesis—requires synchronization," Iseria wiped the sweat from her face, her eyes fixed on the blazing magic source furnace.
With her off-white hair, she turned to look at Lilith, only to find that the latter was also looking at her.
Their eyes met, and the sky blue and deep red deepened—
"Understand—" Lilith uttered softly.
"Alright, listen to my countdown," Iseria's face turned serious, and even the noisy "little aethers" around her quieted down, gathering at her fingertips, ready to unleash their power.
"Three—two—!"
*Sizzle!*
The two enormous pressures collided inside the container, causing the exhaust pipe to emit a muffled roar!
Then, a stream of pure, almost transparent liquid dripped from the cooling drain outlet, slowly condensing into an incredibly clear liquid, which slid down the tube into the collection bottle.
Under the kerosene lamp, there wasn't much sediment in the liquid; there were only spiral-like strands flowing in a certain rhythm.
Yunevo raised an eyebrow, stood up from his chair, walked between the two, and sealed the medicine bottle.
It's hard to believe that this 90% pure potion came from a "fresh-faced" young mage, and — one.
What is it?
The black-robed alchemist pinched his cheek, lost in thought for the first time outside of considering combat strategies.
"Not bad teamwork," he sighed, clearly unable to find the right words to describe it, before turning to Iseria and handing her a cream puff.
The fair-haired girl took it with both hands, blinked her bright eyes and revealed a bright smile. She subconsciously reached out one hand to pull Lilith, but her arm stopped in mid-air and instead helped Lilith straighten her upturned collar.
Lilith tilted her head and stared at Iseria's smile, which could brighten up a storm, for a long time.
"Laughing—?" She reached out somewhat confusedly and tentatively adjusted the collar of the beige-haired girl in front of her. Her movements were stiff, but they carried a hint of "humanity."
"It's a smile!" Iseria nodded.
Lilith tilted her head in confusion, seemingly unsure how to use her facial muscles to make the movement.
A moment later, she raised her hands, pressed her fingertips to the corners of her mouth, and pulled them upwards.
"Is that so?" Lilith's voice became somewhat indistinct.
At this moment, between those tiny red lines, the previously stagnant dark golden light spots seemed to come alive, transforming into golden tides that rose and fell in waves—
Yune leaned against the wall, pinching his cheek.
If we call all of this "learning," then it would be appropriate, but this is only the "beginning" of learning.
Even just a day earlier, Lao Liu had delivered information about a significant decrease in the speed at which the "monster tide" was advancing.
Then, he saw the silver-haired girl.
"A coincidence?" The black-robed alchemist stared at Lilith as she approached him, muttering to himself, "Unlikely—"
""
The next moment, the silver-haired girl grabbed the hem of his clothes and shook it gently.
"Boss—overtime pay—" Her tone was mechanical, but it carried a sense of entitlement.
Yonivore nearly lost his balance, turning to look at the expressionless girl, his lips twitching involuntarily.
"Where did you learn that word?"
