The Secret Cult Chronicles of the Decaying Lake Manor
Chapter 122 [Nomdal]
Chapter 122 [Nomdal]
In an instant, the three diamonds, which were not even enough to fill the palm of his hand, suddenly began to spin.
No, it wasn't a physical rotation; George discovered that the diamond's interior was spinning like a kaleidoscope—heaven knows why such a small diamond could give such a clear visual impact.
The light emanated from the inside of the crystal, first forming individual circles, then merging into a large milky-white halo, and finally transforming into a vortex that continuously expanded and contracted.
George could vaguely see the patterns in the vortex. He unconsciously thought of the exquisitely carved white marble dome, where the intricate details were obscured by the uniform color, and only a slight sense of rhythm could be discerned when his gaze swept over it.
In this strange situation, he dared not lower his hands. When he looked at the Xianqiu resident, the other party gave him a reassuring look.
The vortex spun faster and faster, bringing a strange tranquility, a silence in the tower's space like that of the eye of a storm.
"Come here, young heir."
For the first time, Xianqiu Min's voice carried a certain emotion, a mixture of anticipation, excitement, and a hint of unconcealed vicissitude.
"Witness the true gift your mother left you."
The light at the center of the vortex grew even more dazzling, and a figure was thrown out of the vortex.
That was a unicorn.
Language would fall short of describing it.
Its entire body presents a flowing and ever-changing dreamlike color—rose gold like the first light of dawn, green light dancing in the polar night sky, the purest moon white... Its shape is healthy and elegant. When unfolded, it is as huge as a deer, yet it moves with ease in a limited space without appearing cramped at all.
As it ran around the two of them, its mane fluttered in the still air, flowing like a babbling brook illuminated by the afternoon sun in the surrounding darkness.
The long horn in the center of its forehead has an opal-like color, which seems to be what gives this mythical beast endless radiance.
The unicorn darted nimbly through the narrow passage, circling around George and the people of the Hill of the Immortals. George found it difficult to describe its movements, which seemed both fast and slow.
Fortunately, the unicorn didn't seem to care about tormenting George's poor neck, which was constantly turning its head. After circling twice, it slowly stopped, gracefully turned its head, and gazed at the two of them with its bright eyes.
George held his breath.
My previous life's fantasies about unicorns seemed pale and powerless when I saw them with my own eyes; the shock was far beyond what words could describe.
This fantastical creature exuded a strange aura—neither threatening nor safe, but an elusive sense of chaos somewhere in between.
The immortal man floated towards the unicorn, his pale hand gently landing on its glowing head.
The unicorn did not resist; it even lowered its head slightly, allowing the hand to reach into its mouth and take something out.
It is a diamond.
Slightly larger than the extinguished Fairy Hill Diamond in George's hand, it was quite pure in color, yet a faint light shone from its core, illuminating the fingers of the Fairy Hill people as they picked it up.
After the diamond was taken, the unicorn shook its head and broke free from the hands of the Celestials.
It walked towards George with unhurried steps.
George instinctively tried to step back, but found that his feet were rooted to the spot and he couldn't move.
Those universe-like eyes were calmly watching him, and there was a reassuring lack of hostility in them.
He slowly reached out, wanting to touch the mane of this fantastical unicorn, but instead he immediately took action.
It shrank at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye, and just as George's hand was about to touch it, it had already transformed into a flowing light.
The beam of light traveled swiftly along George's arm, which he couldn't retract in time, and finally stopped on the inside of his forearm.
George abruptly pulled his hand back and rolled up his sleeve.
A new mark appeared on his skin.
The mark was white, close to his current skin tone, so it wasn't very noticeable.
But if you look closely, you'll find that it's more intricate than a tattoo—the design, which combines a crescent moon and a unicorn, looks like a jade carving embedded in the skin.
"Don't worry, this is your mother's arrangement."
Xianqiu Min had already tucked the newly discovered diamond into his sleeve and was now calmly watching George. A complex expression, bordering on wistful emotion, appeared on his androgynous face.
"When you follow in the footsteps of the Heralds and reach the deepest reaches of the Dream Realm, you will realize how precious this gift is."
Under George's gaze, Xianqiumin continued, "Furthermore, I must say this: the knowledge you have recently acquired has propelled you to the threshold of delving into the wisdom of the spiritual realm. Tonight, you will receive a revelation in your dream."
Its gaze became enigmatic.
"But I must remind you that if you don't have a clear understanding of the future, it's best not to take that step lightly. After that step, many things will be irreversible."
"So I need to set my life goals tonight?" George asked.
"You can postpone it until later, but this question will have to be answered sooner or later." Xianqiu shook his head. "Making a conscious choice is far better than being swept along by the tide."
George paused for a moment, then asked another question: "What was the content of the contract my father arranged for you?"
Xianqiu Min did not answer directly, but simply said, "A contract is an agreement between two parties. Your father fulfilled his part, and I fulfilled mine. As for the details, you only need to know that we are more of a cooperation than a subordination."
George realized that further questioning was futile, so he turned to his most practical request: "If I were in danger, would you help me?"
Xianqiu Min gazed at him and slowly nodded: "I will make a move once, but only once."
"Once," George repeated, nodding. "That's enough."
The immortal creature seemed satisfied with the response; its form began to blur, as if it were merging into the surrounding shadows.
"Remember tonight's dream, young heir." The voice came from all directions. "If you need my help, call my name."

As the inhuman words fell, the figures of the Xianqiu people had completely disappeared.
George stood there, lost in thought for a long time, took one last look at the diamond in his hand, then turned and left the tower, walking up the spiral stone steps.
Viscount Edward still had not returned by dinner time.
After the meal, as soon as I returned to the living room, Lieutenant Bates came over.
"George, would you be interested in checking out the gym?" the lieutenant invited. "I have some improvements to my swordsmanship and would like to ask for your guidance."
George was slightly surprised, but then nodded: "Of course."
In the brightly lit gym, Bates took two practice swords off the shelf and tossed one to George.
"During this time, I have repeatedly studied 'Exercise and Health' and Richter Naur's manuscripts," Bates said while stretching his joints.
"We discovered many techniques that can be improved to better suit real-world applications."
He assumed a starting stance, the tip of his sword slightly lowered.
George recognized it as a variation of the German sword technique called "Geki-i" (or "position"), but with a lower center of gravity and more agile footwork.
"Miss Kelly has been coming here often lately; she seems to have found her goal." A hint of amusement flashed in Bates' eyes.
"It's clear that she has put a lot of effort into improving herself."
