Chapter 160 Is this even human?
the other side.
After a long journey, the Dwarf King, Toronto, and their small dwarf guards finally arrived at the capital of Inberia.
Along the way, their values have been challenged countless times.
The farmers working in the fields could easily lift stones bigger than a person; the children playing by the roadside could run faster than rabbits; and the ordinary vendors could shout so loudly that it would make people's ears ring.
Is this even human?
The Dwarf King asked Toronto this question more than once.
Toronto remained silent each time, because he didn't know how to answer.
Just as the dwarves arrived at the gates of the capital, another group of people came into view.
The Wind God Chieftain of the Slane Theocracy, leading the troops of the Wind Flower Holy Scripture.
The two groups met at the city gate, sized each other up, and saw the same thing in each other's eyes: shock, confusion, and a little numbness.
"Are you also here to see that king?" the Wind God Chieftain asked.
The dwarf king nodded: "You too?"
The Wind God sighed, "Yes."
So the two groups joined forces and entered the city together.
Why did the Dwarf King, who set off several days earlier, arrive at the same time as the Slane Theocracy?
This is probably because dwarfs have short legs and walk slowly, while humans have long legs and walk quickly; the difference in their paces led to this result.
The dwarf king felt that this matter should not be thought about too much, as it would hurt his pride.
After entering the city, the two groups walked and observed in silence.
The Slane Theocracy had done their homework beforehand and were somewhat prepared for Inbelia's "abnormality," but when they actually saw it with their own eyes, they still couldn't help but twitch.
The Dwarf King, on the other hand, was completely seeing the world for the first time.
A resident ran past them, so fast that he created a gust of wind and nearly knocked over the smallest of the dwarf guards.
An old woman selling vegetables got into an argument with a customer. In the middle of the argument, the old woman grabbed a millstone-sized rock from the roadside and pretended to throw it at him. The customer was not afraid and caught the rock and threw it back at her.
In the distance, people are performing acrobatics. A trainer is beating a disobedient giant manticore, leaving it covered in bumps. A clown is performing sword swallowing, literally chewing and swallowing the sword piece by piece. The magician is using magic, genuine fifth-order magic.
The dwarf king watched this scene in silence for a long time.
Then he turned to Toronto and asked, "Teacher, can we dwarves do this?"
Toronto remained silent for a long time.
Finally, he said, "I can't do it."
The dwarf king nodded and continued walking forward.
He now fully understands why this country has become so strong in just over sixty years.
This is not human at all.
This is a monster disguised as a human.
Finally, the two groups arrived at the palace gates.
After being informed, they were led into the main hall.
The palace was resplendent in gold, but the furnishings were not extravagant. The old king sat on his throne, smiling as he watched the two groups of people enter.
The dwarf king looked at him and thought to himself that this must be the legendary god-king. Although he looked quite old, it was reasonable that the king of that time had become an old king after more than sixty years.
He was about to step forward to pay his respects when the Wind God Chief spoke first.
"Your Majesty," the Wind God High Priest bowed slightly, "Where is His Majesty Leylin?"
The Slane Theocracy had officially met with Leylin and knew that he was still very young and did not look like this. This must be the old king who had ruled for many years.
The old king smiled and said, "Since he's not here, I'll handle the government affairs. You can tell me anything you need to know."
The Wind God Chieftain was stunned.
They came specifically to apologize to Leylin and to ask for a solution to the problem of the Demon Tree. Now that the main culprit is not here, what good will it do to talk to the old king?
But he had no other choice but to briefly recount what had happened. They regretted refusing to merge last time, and now that the Demon Tree had been revived, they hoped that His Majesty Leylin could lend a helping hand for the greater good of humanity.
The old king nodded after listening.
"Leylin has heard your apology," he said. "He has also resolved the matter of the Demon Tree."
The Wind God Chief was taken aback: "Resolved?"
"Yes," the old king said calmly, "he made his move on your way here."
The Wind God Chieftain looked completely bewildered.
Before he could say anything, the old king added, "If you don't believe me, you can go to the Catinius Mountains and see for yourself; you'll find the answer you're looking for there."
The Wind God Chief remained silent.
He suddenly remembered something he had heard: this capital city was covered by some kind of powerful detection magic, and the god-king could hear every word you said in this city.
So, did that person hear every single word he uttered from the moment he entered the city?
Including that apology just now?
A cold sweat broke out on his back.
The dwarf king, who was listening to their conversation, finally realized that this was not the god-king, but the old king.
But it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter who I see.
He quickly had a gift presented to him.
The carefully preserved demon heart, contained in an exquisite box, was respectfully presented.
But the moment the box was handed out, the dwarf king's heart pounded.
Along the way, he witnessed firsthand the soldiers of Inberia carrying dragons and dragging monsters past him; any one of those monsters was stronger than his demon.
They can even kill dragons, why would they care about his demonic heart?
But since we've already brought the gifts, we can't just take them back.
He stiffened his neck, gritted his teeth, and handed over the box.
The old king took the box, opened it, glanced at it, and then nodded with a smile.
"Good stuff," he said. "Thank you for your thoughtfulness."
The dwarf king was taken aback.
You're accepting it? You don't mind?
The old king handed the box to a servant beside him, then looked at the dwarf king: "You gentlemen have come all this way not just to deliver gifts, have you? Is there anything else?"
The Dwarf King quickly waved his hand: "No, no, I came here specifically to express my gratitude. Thank you for sending the message and reminding us to take precautions in advance, which prevented the monster from causing too much damage."
The old king's smile deepened.
"Inberia is a beautiful place," he said. "You are welcome to visit anytime."
The dwarf king nodded repeatedly.
Two groups of people emerged from the palace, each with their own agendas.
The High Priest of Wind stood outside the palace gates, remained silent for a moment, and then said to the members of the Wind and Flower Cult: "Make preparations, we're going to the Katynius Mountains tomorrow."
He had to see for himself what that god-king had done.
The dwarf king leaned closer: "You're going to the Katynius Mountains? We'd like to go too."
The Wind God Chieftain glanced at him.
The dwarf king explained, "We've heard that a special kind of mineral is produced over there, and we dwarves are really eager to go and see for ourselves."
The Wind God Chief nodded without saying anything.
That evening, both groups were arranged to rest at the official meeting place.
In the Slane Theocracy, the Wind God Chieftain had a soundproof barrier set up and then used encrypted [messages] to contact the country.
Although he knew the capital city was covered in detection magic, and that doing this could easily be overheard by the god-king, this matter was too important to be verified.
The encrypted message was sent out and a reply was received quickly.
Then he froze.
The reply said: Over in the Great Forest of Tob, the Demon Tree has disappeared, leaving only a huge pit in its place, as if it had been uprooted and taken away by something.
The Wind God Chief read the message aloud to the members of the Wind Flower Ceremony.
Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment.
The old king said the demon tree had been dealt with, and they were initially skeptical, but now news from home confirms that the demon tree has indeed disappeared.
The old king said that if you don't believe me, you can go and see for yourself in the Catechnias Mountains.
So, what does the disappearance of the magic tree have to do with the Katynius Mountains?
The more the Wind God Chieftain thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.
I must go and see it tomorrow.
The atmosphere was much more relaxed on the other side, near the Dwarf King's side.
They didn't need to contact anyone back home, nor did they have any secret missions. The group sat down around a table with several large glasses of Inberia's specialty milk wine in front of them.
"This wine is really good!" The dwarf guard captain took a big gulp, his eyes lighting up.
"It tastes even better than the ale we dwarves brew!" another guard chimed in.
"Come on, pour some more!"
The dwarf king, for once, relaxed, holding a wine glass and watching his men feast and drink with a smile.
Toronto sat to the side, sipping his drink, but his mind was elsewhere.
The sights and sounds I've witnessed along the way have been truly mind-blowing.
He visited this country sixty years ago, when it was just an insignificant little country. Sixty years later, it has changed into this.
He looked out the window.
In the darkness of night, the lights of the capital city twinkled, creating a peaceful scene.
In the distance, the outline of the Catechnias Mountains can be faintly seen, standing silently in the moonlight.
Tomorrow, let's go see the Catanias.
