Chapter 54 Sisters' Gathering
At six o'clock in the morning, the alarm clock rang on time.
Miles sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to turn off the alarm clock.
He sat here for twenty minutes just to wait for the alarm clock to ring.
A warm sensation came from behind him. His girlfriend, woken by the alarm clock, came over and hugged Miles, softly asking, "Honey, did you have insomnia?"
Miles nodded slightly, reached out and touched his girlfriend's cheek, then got up and went to the bathroom to wash up.
After washing up and getting ready at 6:15, I went to the kitchen to start preparing breakfast.
After having breakfast at 6:50, I went downstairs and walked out of my apartment building. My brothers were already waiting at the door.
Arrive at the gang's stronghold at 7:30 AM to begin your day's work.
This is how Miles works every day.
He prefers everything to proceed in an orderly manner and dislikes surprises and chaos.
Today should be no different.
But today is different.
He had just sat down at his desk when the door was flung open, and the person who entered shouted at Miles, "Hey! Nigger, did you kill Victor?!"
Miles clasped his hands on the table, obscuring half of his face. He glanced at the person who had entered, then said softly, "Go out and knock."
"What are you knocking on? Victor is dead!" the man roared, frantically pounding on the nearly four-meter-long wide desk.
Miles pulled open the top drawer with his right hand, took out a silver Desert Eagle, cocked it, placed it on the table, and said, "Get out and knock!"
"You bastard, Victor's dead! Stop spouting this nonsense—"
"Bang!" A wisp of smoke rose from the muzzle of the Desert Eagle as the skull of the attacker was shattered by the powerful 12.7mm bullet, splattering brain matter and blood all over the ground.
Nancy pushed open the door and came in; this was the scene that greeted her.
When the two henchmen who accompanied the newcomer saw that their boss had been shot in the head, they immediately tried to draw their guns.
"Put down your gun! Don't move!" Nancy shouted, drawing her sidearm.
The two henchmen, who were already of weak will, immediately raised their hands, not daring to do anything rash.
Without hesitation, Miles fired two shots, killing the two henchmen, before putting the pistol back in the drawer and returning to his previous sitting position.
"Old man, what happened?" Nancy noticed that her brother's mood was off, walked over to him, rubbed Miles's overly muscular trapezius muscles, and asked with concern.
Miles watched his men clean up the mess before him, and after a long pause, he said, "Can you imagine that five fully armed men couldn't kill a single ICE agent? And that included Xavier, that psychopath who doesn't know fear!"
Nancy was taken aback: "It failed?"
Miles clenched his fist and roared, "Failure? No, it's not failure! They were all wiped out! Five men! Five men armed to the teeth with assault rifles, not one left, wiped out by a single 9mm pistol!"
His emotions finally became uncontrollable and erupted completely.
Like a raging silver gorilla locked in a cage, Miles roared and howled, unusually losing his composure.
He only loses his composure like this in front of his half-sister.
Nancy knew the reason and gently advised, "Alright, alright, old man! That's enough. Remember your position, you're the boss! Don't dwell too much on negative emotions!"
As always, his sister's words worked. Miles' eyes gradually calmed down as the redness faded.
"Won't the police find out we're one of them?" Nancy reminded her brother.
"No, Xavier has always been in the shadows and has no clear connection with us. He is loyal to old Ellis. Even if we find out, it will lead to Victor..." Miles regained his composure and paced back and forth in the middle of the floor, completely unconcerned about the bloodstains on the floor.
The subordinates, carrying mops and buckets, dared not disturb their boss's thoughts.
Nancy walked over, not wanting to step on the stain, and waved to Miles, beckoning her brother over. She then bent down, took off Miles' shoes, and pulled him to another room.
"Victor and Xavier have both died, and you just killed Damian. You need to think about your next move and how to explain it to the gang elders."
Miles sat on the sofa, looking up at the ceiling. After a long while, he said, "There's not much to say. Xavier's death was an accident. Everything else was part of the plan..."
Nancy remained silent, agreeing with her brother's statement.
Otherwise, Miles wouldn't have shot Damian just because he didn't knock.
Without Victor, Damian is a burden and will die sooner or later. If he's not killed today for not knocking, he'll be killed tomorrow for not wearing a hat.
"So, what should we do next?"
"Let's stick to the established plan. You should take over Victor's territory as soon as possible, and you might as well be a little aggressive. Don't worry about anything anymore. Now that Victor is gone, no one in or outside the gang will dare to oppose me."
……
……
Lola slept very badly that night.
It wasn't that Julie's bed was uncomfortable; it was just that after experiencing so many crazy things in a row, her nerves had completely broken down.
At five o'clock in the morning, Lola couldn't stay in bed any longer, so she got up and went downstairs.
In the living room, Julie was holding a laptop, intently looking at something.
Hearing footsteps on the stairs, Julie turned to look at Lola: "What's wrong, not asleep?"
Lola walked to the sofa, sat cross-legged, and scratched her messy blonde hair: "She looks like she's asleep, but also like she's awake..."
Julie handed over the potato chips she was holding and continued fiddling with the mouse: "It's not surprising. You killed so many people and walked on the edge of life and death. It'll definitely take you some time to recover."
Lola ate two potato chips and asked curiously, "You went through this phase too?"
Julie shrugged: "I've been shot three times, and I almost died once. I spent half a month in the ICU before I woke up..."
Lola's mouth froze: "This is the first time I've heard you say this."
Julie smiled gently: "Those days were tough. I almost became an alcoholic, but thankfully I made it through."
"So how did you get through it?"
"Murder!" Julie said casually. "Take the most dangerous missions, go to the most dangerous places, catch the most dangerous criminals, and shoot them dead the moment they show their faces. Who cares about Miranda's warnings!"
Lola was stunned.
I can't learn this method myself...
"There's no one else here. Tell me the truth, who did it last night? Your boyfriend?" Julie asked this crucial question without even looking up.
"Huh?" Lola was even more dumbfounded.
"Even a fool can see that you don't have the ability. Others might believe your nonsense, but I don't."
Julie put down her laptop, picked up a potato chip and ate it. "Putting aside ability, just talking about personality. From the moment I've known you, you've never been someone who would risk everything. You're not ruthless enough to yourself to do something so desperate."
The poised and elegant policewoman, holding a bag of potato chips in one hand and munching on some, looked every bit the gossipy older sister: "Tell me, who is he? What does he do? I'm really curious!"
Lola hesitated for a moment, then tilted her head and asked, "Are you asking this as my sister or as a police officer?"
Julie rolled her eyes: "Is there a difference between the two?"
"Of course!" Lola snatched the bag of chips, frowning as she looked at the empty bag.
Julie stood up, took out two more bags of potato chips, and handed them to her much younger sister, a family friend: "Come on, sisterhood! There are no sheriffs or ICE agents today! Tell me, what does your boyfriend do for a living?"
"Can't I just not tell you?" Lola wanted to make one last attempt.
"Of course not!" Julie said, half-jokingly and half-seriously, "Tell me the truth, and I'll help you cover this up; otherwise, I'll investigate thoroughly and turn the scene upside down! Are you sure you can fool me?"
Laura was speechless upon hearing this, but after thinking for a moment, she decided to tell the truth.
Otherwise, if Julie gets serious, things won't be so simple.
Just as she was about to speak, she suddenly blinked and asked, "Julie, you wouldn't... have something on your mind, would you?"
