Tokyo: I was tricked into marrying a yandere ghost
Chapter 28 Is Asagiri Anzu not human?
Asagiri Yuko's childhood was always shrouded in a lingering shadow.
When she was eight years old, she was diagnosed with a very rare disease. Her father disappeared on a rainy night, but her mother refused to give up on her and took over the izakaya (Japanese pub) left by her grandfather to raise her with great difficulty.
But on another rainy night, my mother was unfortunately involved in a car accident while buying goods.
From then on, Asagiri Yuko spent her childhood in an orphanage until she grew up and was able to inherit an izakaya (Japanese pub), at which point she returned to Tokyo.
However, she was still unlucky at this time, and met a hypocritical man who coveted her beauty and family fortune. After marriage, he revealed his gambling nature. At the worst point, all of Asagiri Yuko's money was squandered by him, and she almost died because she had no money for medical treatment.
She endured the days until she became pregnant, at which point the man seemed to change his mind and found a job outside.
Life seemed to be getting better from then on, especially in the last few years when the man quit his job and plunged into the stock market. According to the other party, he seemed to have made a lot of money, and his future and that of his children were now secure.
Unfortunately, it was all just an illusion.
Her daughter inherited her disease, which was even more severe, triggering other illnesses, and she passed away at the age of four.
Her husband's money in the stock market was completely wiped out by a series of concurrent factors, including rising interest rates on government bonds, shrinking stock prices, and the bursting of the bubble. It became a pile of useless paper. The man fell into depravity again, spending his days drinking and gambling.
From birth to the present, Asagiri Yuko seems to have never encountered anything worth looking forward to.
She knew that there was always a rain that was about to fall but hadn't yet fallen in her heart...
—Until the next rainy night arrives.
......
......
In the tea room of the izakaya, Asagiri Yuko poured a cup of tea for the two of them.
She looked at the rather handsome high school student with some confusion. He seemed to be the older brother of another little girl, but she didn't understand why the two of them wanted to see her.
"Hello, Ms. Asagiri, my name is Kiyokawa Kiri, and this is my younger sister, Kayako..."
Kiyokawa Kiri casually introduced himself.
But Kayako Kawamata, standing next to her, was so excited that she completely ignored the word "sister".
So when Kiyokawa Kiri's words reached her ears, they became, "This is my Kayako."
She could almost see the day when she would change her surname to Kiyokawa Kayako!
"Hello, how did you know my name?" Asagiri Yuko couldn't help but ask.
Kiyokawa Kiri wasn't surprised to hear the question. Instead, she took out her student ID, which she had prepared beforehand, and placed it on the table.
"This student ID belongs to Asagiri-san, right?"
"Student ID?"
Asagiri Yuko subconsciously looked down and froze when she saw the student ID.
After all, it was something she had used before. Even though many years had passed, she recognized it at a glance. What surprised her even more was that the student ID was well preserved and showed no signs of wear, as if time had stood still on it.
She even vaguely recalled what she was like when she first entered junior high school...
"It's mine. Where did Kiyokawa-san find it?"
"It's complicated, but this student ID should be one of your mother's belongings."
"Why?"
Asagiri Yuko's expression froze instantly.
She had long forgotten most of what happened more than 20 years ago, but she remembered very clearly only things related to her family.
At that time, my mother did indeed take my replaced student ID, claiming that she wanted to keep it as a memento, a symbol of my growing up.
If Kiyokawa Kiri hadn't mentioned it, Asagiri Yuko would have almost forgotten about it.
In other words, this student ID should have been kept by the mother?
"My family used to be friends with Ms. Asagiri's mother... I think. This student ID ended up in my family's hands by various coincidences. Now that I've got it back, I thought I should return it to its rightful owner," Kiyokawa Kiri patiently explained.
There's definitely no way I can explain the matter of the witch at the crossroads to Asagiri Yuuko.
Fortunately, seeing the other person's absent-minded appearance, Kiyokawa Kiri felt that she didn't need to bother making up an excuse.
Besides, it's just a student ID, and even Asagiri Yuuko recognized it as hers.
"Did Kiyokawa-san come from a very far place?"
"It's not far. I'm currently studying in Tokyo and living in Nishi-Shinjuku."
"I'll have to trouble you with this..."
Yuko Asagiri hesitated for a moment, but still accepted the student ID.
Although she didn't understand why the other party would travel all this way just to give her a student ID that was no longer of use.
However, out of politeness, Asagiri Yuko let the two of them sit for a while before she went to get some snacks.
Kiyokawa Kiri didn't refuse, since he couldn't be sure if the price had been paid. He also planned to stay a little longer and see if there was any way to study why the Crossroads Witches were born.
Kayako Kawamata was quite well-behaved, not causing any trouble, but just curiously looking around the tea room.
Until Asagiri Yuko returned, followed by a girl much smaller than Kawamata Kayako.
The other person looked to be only seven or eight years old, with a round and cute face. After entering, they stared at Kiyokawa Kiri and Kawamata Kayako, their eyes having an indescribable innocent charm.
"This is my daughter, Asagiri An. An-chan, please say hello to your older brother and sister."
"Hello, Onii-san..."
Asagiri An speaks in a deep, muffled voice, but because she's a bit chubby, she actually looks quite charming and cute.
She and Kayako Kawamata were the complete opposites; the former was extremely cute, while the latter was extremely gloomy. One was popular, while the other was disliked. Therefore, when she saw An Asagiri, Kayako Kawamata shrank her shoulders and hesitated to speak.
Instead, Kiyokawa Kiri naturally took over the conversation, smiling as she patted the little girl who had come closer.
However, at that moment, a slightly puzzled voice from Omi Kin suddenly rang in his mind.
Something's not right... This Asagiri An definitely isn't Asagiri Yuko's biological daughter.
"???"
Kiyokawa Kiri's eyes twitched slightly, and she muttered a few complaints in her heart: If you can't speak, then don't speak.
Why do you care if she's your biological daughter or not? Maybe she's an adopted daughter.
However, before Kiyokawa Kiri could finish his rant, Omi Kin spoke up again.
Are you stupid? I'm not a god, how could I possibly tell at a glance whether someone is a biological child or not?
The reason I say this is because Asagiri An's heartbeat frequency is completely different from that of a normal human, meaning that Asagiri An is not human.
