The Knight of Light plants the sun in the eternal night.

Chapter 142 The Loyal Sunflower Castle

"Leo!"

"Professor Franken."

"You're finally back! Swamp Manor can't do without its lord!" Franken gave Leo an exaggerated hug.

Since Leo went to the Glowing Fungus Castle to participate in the Knights' Grand Training, he hasn't returned to the manor, and it's been more than twenty days.

Without Leo, Swamp Manor, though functioning normally, always feels a bit lacking in scenery.

When Leo is present, there will be a major or minor blessing of holy light every few days.

Leo left.

The swamp manor fell silent, and the holy light never graced it again.

"Let me introduce you to two knights. This is Lord Lucio, who followed me here from Moonlight Castle. He will teach me the path of the Knight of Light. I also plan to build a Holy Light Abode and entrust it to him as its abode."

"Your Excellency Lucio, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Hello, Sir Frankenstein."

"This is my follower, he's still young, his name is Vian," Leo casually introduced young Vian.

"Really? So young?" Franken asked, a little puzzled. "Leo, what arrangements should we make? Put him in a room with the children at Rhodes School, especially that little genius, Kamov?"

"Ahem," Leo said, "Vian is a girl."

"Huh?" Franken looked at him. "He is indeed quite handsome, but he looks like a little boy."

Young Vian retorted, "Sir Franken, I am a minor."

"Alright, alright, little girl," Franken said. "Here's what we'll do: I'll put you in Sunny's room, you two will share a room—Sunny's roommate. That girl isn't very talented and has already decided to get married."

He paused, then chuckled and said, "Leo, do you know who she's going to marry?"

"Whom should I marry?"

"Marry Henry with the gap-toothed tooth!"

"Gap-toothed Henry?" Leo thought for two seconds before remembering.

Henry the Gap-toothed was an old serf who had discovered peat and had been appointed peat foreman, in charge of peat exploration and mining. He must have been over fifty years old, yet he was still able to fool a teenage girl.

Leo frowned. "How old is that little girl?"

Fourteen years old.

"Only fourteen years old?"

"Many women become mothers at fourteen, Leo." Franken didn't find this strange at all.

Although it is common for nobles to consider marriage after reaching adulthood at the age of sixteen, it is not a problem to wait until they are in their twenties.

However, serfs generally married and had children at the age of fourteen or fifteen, and very few married after reaching adulthood.

"Was she there voluntarily?"

"Yes." Franken spread his hands. "The training was too tough, and the little girl couldn't eat, so she managed to get into the bed of the gap-toothed Henry—it's unbelievable that someone would want to climb into the bed of that old man, the gap-toothed Henry."

Leo shook his head.

"To each their own," he joked, "And what about your bed, Professor Frankenstein?"

"Ah, haha, what do you mean 'my bed'? Monica is very protective of it, and I'm not that kind of person."

Leo said to Little Vian, "You'll be sharing a room with Sunny. Perfect, since you're both at the Qi Sensing stage, try to keep an eye on each other and awaken your Battle Qi as soon as possible. Um, you'll also be training with Lord Rhodes later."

that's it.

Lucio was assigned a separate room in the fortified house, which was actually two rooms; Little Vian, the duke's daughter, could only share a dormitory with Sunny, who came from a serf background. It wasn't even really sharing a room, though, since the fortified house could be divided into smaller rooms.

As for Xiao Wei'an's identity.

Leo believes in letting things happen naturally. If there's a hint about the meaning of a flower, he'll try to win her over; if not, he'll just let her be.

"master!"

After a short walk, Leo returned to his loyal Sunflower Castle, and then couldn't wait to take a bath and change into clean clothes.

As soon as I went downstairs, I saw a gentle female knight sitting in the living room, leisurely drinking tea.

"Vanessa!"

"Leo!" Vanessa stood up and strode towards Leo. "I just came to check on you, I didn't expect you to be back today!"

"Let's go for a drive outside!"

"it is good."

The two quickly mounted the dog-crocodile, Big Black. Little Otter Pipi was already numb to this and steered the big crocodile away from the fortress.

Vian, who had just moved into the fortified village and was on his way to fetch water, exclaimed in astonishment upon seeing this scene, "Is that also a mythical beast?"

"Yes," Sunny followed behind, carrying a bucket of water. "That's Lord Leo and Lady Vanessa. Let me tell you, Lady Vanessa is quite the capable woman; she's already a Beast Knight at such a young age!"

"Is she also a knight of the manor?"

"Not yet, but maybe in the future—who knows?" Sunny shook her head. Who could say what would happen to the noblemen?

Commander Franken has emphasized that no one in the territory is allowed to talk about Miss Vanessa or gossip about Young Master Leo's private life; violators will be severely punished.

Harden also told her that the relationship between Lord Leo and Miss Vanessa was complicated, and that she shouldn't say anything carelessly.

"Isn't it like that now?" Little Vian asked thoughtfully.

"Come on, little sister, there's a special water room in the fortress where you can get clean cold water as well as hot water."

Cold water is free, feel free to fill it up. But for hot water, a bucket like this only costs one coin!

Gold coins, silver coins, and copper coins are the main currencies in the White Rose Kingdom. Of course, you can also trade directly with Shadow Stones and Magic Crystals.

But the serfs on the manor didn't have that kind of expense.

Therefore, local lords, especially great nobles, would privately mint coins with a face value much smaller than copper coins. The Fluorescent Fungus family had a mint that could mint "mini copper coins" that were about the size of a goose's eye.

It has a fluorescent mushroom symbol printed on it.

One copper coin can be exchanged for ten goose-eye coins.

In the territory, four copper coins could buy a loaf of black bread that would last an adult for five days.

Ordinary serfs worked without pay, similar to tenant farmers, cultivating the land and serving their lords for free, while keeping only a small portion of the harvest for themselves.

Those who no longer needed to farm, such as serf stewards, craftsmen, apprentice knights, and apprentice priests, could receive a small wage, ranging from a few geese's eyes to a few copper coins a day. Craftsmen who opened shops could also keep a small profit.

In short.

In the manor, a single coin is no small sum.

Most serfs couldn't bear to spend money on hot water; they could collect peat from outside and boil water at home themselves.

The hot water in the boiler room was a service for the knights. For the knights and their families, a single goose eye coin could buy a large tub of hot water, which was much more cost-effective than having their eyes hurt from the peat smoke at home.

Even trainee knights (trainee berserkers) like Sunny can receive subsidies and are willing to spend money to buy hot water.

"Can we still buy hot water?" Vian asked in surprise.

Sunny immediately said proudly, "Other manors don't have boiler rooms for heating water. This is all thanks to Lord Leo. Little Vian, your ability to follow Lord Leo is a blessing from the Holy Light!"
