The Way of Heaven Rewards Diligence in Film and Television

Chapter 4: Should the capable do more work?

Lin Yang had originally planned to order a late-night snack, but then he changed his mind and went to check the refrigerator, deciding to make himself a bowl of egg noodles.

As Lin Yang turned on the heat, poured in the oil, and added the egg mixture, he noticed a progress bar appearing above the pan.

However, the progress bar moved rather slowly, and it disappeared completely after Lin Yang finished cooking the noodles.

"Could this progress bar not represent my cooking progress, but rather my culinary skills?" Lin Yang wondered to himself.

Whether it was just his imagination or because he was in a good mood and relaxed, Lin Yang found that the noodles he made today tasted better than before.

After eating, washing the dishes, taking a shower, changing into his pajamas, and going to bed, Lin Yang started watching American TV series on his tablet.

His English level wasn't very good; it was just okay.

As Lin Yang focused on the English dialogue on the tablet, he noticed a progress bar that had quietly appeared and was slowly advancing. Lin Yang quickly realized that his mind seemed to have become more agile, and his understanding and memory of the spoken English dialogue in the show had improved.

"As expected, hard work pays off. Cooking skills and English—as long as you learn them, your level will improve, and the improvement speed is obviously very fast," Lin Yang said with some surprise.

It's so great to be able to learn some English while relaxing and watching TV.

Feeling sleepy, Lin Yang checked his phone and saw it was already 11:30. He quickly turned off his tablet, got out of bed to run the toilet, and then went to bed.

The next morning, after getting up and washing up, Lin Yang noticed the treadmill he had bought but hadn't used much. With a flicker of interest, he walked over, studied it briefly, and started jogging. He then noticed that the progress bar was moving very slowly in front of him.

"Sure enough, there's a progress bar for running too, but what does it represent?"

Lin Yang, still grumbling to himself, ran for half an hour straight, until he was panting heavily, his legs ached, and his chest felt uncomfortable. After drinking a glass of water and taking a shower, he felt somewhat better.

"Could it be that the progress bar that appears during running and exercise represents my physical fitness? Then my training efficiency is amazing."

To improve his cooking skills, Lin Yang also prepares his own breakfasts.

Even living alone can have a sense of ritual. This kind of fulfilling life—cooking and eating by himself after work, exercising, learning, and relaxing—was what Lin Yang once longed for and was most satisfied with.

Next, more than half a month had passed since he arrived in this world, and Lin Yang increasingly felt the benefits brought by the Heavenly Reward System.

In just over half a month, his cooking skills and spoken English have improved significantly. By running and doing push-ups every day, Lin Yang can also feel his physical fitness getting stronger.

The most obvious change is that now, after exercising, he no longer feels breathless or has such chest pain.

Although the work at the company is quite tedious and involves a lot of tasks, often requiring overtime, Lin Yang never fails to do a good job on any task he takes on.

He not only does his job well, but he does it quickly and well. He can also help his colleagues improve their work efficiency. The most obvious manifestation of this is that he doesn't work overtime as frequently or as late as before.

That day, Lin Yang arrived at the company on time, taking his time. He had barely sat down when Li Xiaoyue handed him a cup of milk tea: "Good morning, Master. I bought this especially for you; it's still hot!"

Immediately afterwards, several female colleagues brought over breakfast or snacks...

"Alright, alright, don't be so polite! I can't eat that much, I've been exercising to lose weight lately!" Lin Yang quickly said. These female demons really think he's Tang Sanzang's flesh, he can't handle it!

After seeing this, Gao Liang and several other male colleagues could only admire and respect Lin Yang.

There's no way to compare! Lin Yang is just too capable; the director has praised his work efficiency and quality more than once.

With Lin Yang around, their work became much easier.

Moreover, Lin Yang basically assigns tasks based on each person's strengths every day, and the division of labor and cooperation greatly improves efficiency.

Now the directors are used to handing over their daily tasks directly to Lin Yang, making him like the director's deputy.

Lin Yang has now won over these colleagues with his abilities, making them willing to cooperate.

Even if it were the director himself, no one else could have cooperated with them as well as Lin Yang.

Li Xiaoyue idolizes Lin Yang immensely. Feeling that she has learned a lot under Lin Yang's guidance, she now considers herself Lin Yang's disciple.

"Lin Yang, are you still trying to lose weight? But you do look more energetic and handsome these past few days, so it seems your workouts are working well!" a female colleague laughed.

"Not bad, not bad," Lin Yang replied with an awkward laugh. After turning on his computer, he saw a series of messages and documents that were quickly sent to him on WeChat. His smile faded and he frowned slightly.

After glancing at Lin Yang briefly, he got up and went directly to the director's office.

"Lin Yang, you've been working hard lately. Would you like some coffee? I'll make you a cup," the director, who was making coffee in the office, said with a smile as he saw Lin Yang push the door open without knocking.

"Director, even though we're treated like cattle, you can't use us to the point of exhaustion, can you?" Lin Yang frowned and looked at him, saying:

"I understand your desire to achieve sales targets, but with the workload increasing, have you considered whether we can maintain both quality and quantity in completing these tasks?"

"Lin Yang, the more capable you are, the more work you should do. Your abilities are evident to everyone in the company; even the boss has praised you!" The director said with a smile as he walked over.

"Okay, I'll talk to the boss and apply for a raise for you. The more you do, the more you earn, right?"

Lin Yang sneered inwardly. No matter how much they earned, it was all hard-earned money. Those who made the most money were still the bosses, followed by the directors and other senior executives of the company.

"Director, I can do the work, but to avoid dissatisfaction from our partners and having to make repeated changes, I have one condition: let me directly contact our partners, communicate at any time, and improve efficiency," Lin Yang said.

Upon hearing this, the director's eyes flickered as he pushed up his glasses, thinking to himself, "This kid has ability, and he's quite ambitious too. Is he trying to steal my job?"

If Lin Yang handles all the work directly, what's the point of having him as the director?

"Contact our partners directly..." the director hesitated slightly.

Lin Yang said directly, "Director, if you want to generate more revenue, you need to improve efficiency. Otherwise, don't assign me so much work; I can't handle it."

"Okay, then I'll give you access to some urgent contact information with our partners," the director said after a moment's thought.

In his view, maintaining relationships with partners is not so easy.

He has been in this industry for many years. With his network of connections, Lin Yang, a young man, even if he is highly capable, is ultimately just a planner and a worker. It won't be so easy for him to replace him.

On the contrary, he and the company need Lin Yang to boost performance and even enhance the company's reputation. After all, companies like theirs are built on hard work and need to speak with impressive results.

If we don't offer him any benefits and force Lin Yang to do the work, we might drive him away, which would be a significant loss.

When Lin Yang returned to his workstation, Gao Liang couldn't help but ask, "Lin Yang, what happened?"

"It's nothing, it's just that we'll all probably have to work a bit harder from now on, and work a few more night shifts," Lin Yang said, shaking his head.

"Why do we have to work overtime again?" Li Xiaoyue was the first to lament.
