Chapter 40 The Bombing Extortion Case is Solved

"Jiaju and Aming, you two did a great job."

In the Major Crimes Unit, when the chief learned that all the bomb-wielding bandits had been killed by Lu Ming and all the explosives had been safely transferred, he was overjoyed.

God knows how much pressure he was under when his superiors demanded that they solve the case within three days.

In some respects, this is simply an impossible task.

He only wanted a breakthrough in the case so he could give his superiors an explanation.

Unexpectedly, on his very first day, Lu Ming discovered Zhou Runjian, the mole in the Galaxy Center Shopping Mall, and then followed the clues to find Sang Hui, who provided the explosives, and pried out information about Lin Guoxiong and others from Sang Hui.

Following a wiretap of the chairman of the Hongkong Land Group, the whereabouts of Lam Kwok-Bin were unexpectedly discovered. Although the arrest operation by patrol officer PC12674 failed and his gun was taken away instead.

But this is precisely what allowed PC12674 to record Lin Guobin's appearance, thus confirming that Lin Guoxiong and others, whom Sang Hui confessed to, were the real culprits behind the Galaxy Center shopping mall bombing.

The investigation has reached this point, which is enough for him to give an account to his superiors.

But an even bigger surprise awaited him. In just half a day, Lu Ming found Lin Guobin's whereabouts based on clues, thus confirming the hideout of this group of bomb-wielding bandits.

With the police station's intensive deployment, they killed Lin Guoxiong and his accomplices overnight, successfully solving the entire bombing extortion case.

The investigation went so smoothly that he could hardly believe it.

The director's gaze fell on Lu Ming. Without a doubt, Lu Ming was the biggest contributor to solving the entire bombing extortion case, and almost all the clues came from Lu Ming.

"Ah Ming, thank goodness for you, otherwise we don't know how long it would have taken us to catch this group of bomb-wielding bandits."

The director looked at Lu Ming with increasing satisfaction and appreciation. Lu Ming had brought him too many surprises, from the three brothers of the Vietnamese gang, the century-old thief king Ji Zhengxiong, the drug lord Zhu Tao, to the bomb bandit now.

Lu Ming was involved in almost the entire process and made one great contribution after another.

"Our ability to solve this case so quickly is entirely due to the wise leadership and effective coordination of the chief and his superiors..."

Lu Ming flattered him earnestly.

"Stop, stop, stop, Ah Ming, don't follow Uncle Biao's example, it's a dead end."

The director shook his head.

Uncle Biao's expression froze. "Is this my business?"

He glanced at Lu Ming with a complicated expression. "Good lad, he already has half of my style. He's truly a force to be reckoned with!"

"Ka-Kui and Ah-Ming, you two will come with me to the press conference later."

"Yes, sir!"

……

"Inspector Chan and Inspector Luk, I heard that you two successfully killed four bomb-wielding criminals during this operation. Is that true?"

Lu Ming sat in the interview area, facing such a scene of cameras and microphones for the first time. The flashes of the cameras below made him a little dizzy.

As Chen Jiaju listened to the reporters' questions, a hint of awkwardness appeared on his face.

With a serious expression, Lu Ming said into the microphone, "This operation is the result of the joint efforts of all our colleagues in the police station under the wise leadership of our superiors. It is not the achievement of any single individual."

Upon hearing Lu Ming's words, the director and Uncle Biao exchanged a glance, becoming even more satisfied with him.

High crime-solving rate, low-key approach, and consideration for the overall situation...

They were extremely satisfied with Lu Ming.

"Officer Lu, I'm a reporter from Asia Television. Through our investigation, we've learned that you were involved in a series of major cases, including dismantling a Vietnamese gang, killing the notorious gangster Ji Zhengxiong, and arresting drug lord Zhu Tao, and played a pivotal role in them. Is this true?"

Just as Lu Ming and Chen Jiaju were answering the reporters' questions in an orderly manner, a reporter dressed in a women's business suit suddenly squeezed out from among the reporters, holding a notebook in her hand and asking a question that surprised everyone.

"Has Inspector Luk been involved in so many major cases?"

The other reporters were astonished. These were all major cases that had occurred in Hong Kong Island in the past two months, but they had no idea that Lu Ming was actually playing an important role in them.

Dismantling the Vietnamese gang, killing the notorious thief Ji Zhengxiong, and arresting the drug kingpin Zhu Tao... any one of these major cases would be enough to bring honor to a police officer.

It's unbelievable that Lu Ming was involved in all of this.

What's even more incredible is that despite Lu Ming's great achievements, he has never been seen in the news, which is extremely unusual.

Upon realizing this, the reporters became excited, their eyes fixed intently on Lu Ming, hoping to glean some explosive news from him.

The director and Uncle Biao exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with anxiety. Due to some special reasons, they couldn't let Lu Ming, the great contributor, attend the press conference for these major cases. Now that the reporters were asking about it, if Lu Ming gave an incorrect answer, it could give the higher-ups the impression that Lu Ming was dissatisfied.

Good heavens! This will affect my career!

Lu Ming glanced at the press card on the female reporter's chest. His eyes flickered slightly. Le Huizhen, another acquaintance!

He calmly and solemnly spoke into the microphone: "This is a press conference regarding the bombing extortion case. Please do not ask any other unrelated questions."

"..."

Le Huizhen was surprised that Lu Ming directly avoided the topic and gave a very righteous reason, which shut her up and left her speechless. She sat down unwillingly.

She stared at Lu Ming for a moment, thinking to herself: I will definitely dig out dirt on you!

She, Yue Huizhen, is not someone who gives up on herself.

When the director and Uncle Biao heard Lu Ming's answer, their eyes lit up. Lu Ming's answer was brilliant; they couldn't find a single flaw in it and he perfectly avoided the trouble that the question might cause.

……

"Ah Ming, your answer just now was perfect. You have to be this tactful when dealing with reporters so they can't find any loopholes in your words."

After the press conference ended, the commissioner praised Lu Ming, "You handled this case exceptionally well. The higher-ups are very satisfied. Inspector Wong even called personally to praise you. The Landmark Group also sent a letter of thanks, stating that they will donate HK$100,000 to our police station to improve the working conditions of our officers. They will give you a big bonus at the end of the year."

His gaze toward Lu Ming was filled with satisfaction; their Central Police Station had finally produced a talent who could bring economic benefits to the station.

He glanced at Chen Jiaju with a look of disdain, "Jiaju, you should learn from Ah Ming. Don't always act impulsively and recklessly, making a big scene every time."

The police chief had a love-hate relationship with Chan Ka-kui. It must be said that Chan Ka-kui was exceptionally capable, but also exceptionally prone to causing trouble, making the police station pay a large sum of money every year.

"..."

Chen Jiaju scratched his head, unsure of what to say.

Uncle Biao said with a smile, "With two great officers, Ka-Kui and Ah-Ming, at our Central Police Station, how can we not win the title of the best police station this year?"

A barely concealed smile appeared on the director's face.
