Chapter 52 The Corpse is Talking?

"Why haven't Black Wolf and the others returned since yesterday?"

"Who knows? Maybe they caught some easy prey and ran off to have some fun in Rigate?"

The torchlight licked at the face of the man who was speaking, revealing a deep scar at the corner of his eye that added a touch of ruthlessness to his disdainful expression.

The tall, round-faced man standing to the side widened his eyes comically, quickly brushed the torch out of the other man's face, and said in a serious tone,

"No way! Boss Leopard has repeatedly forbidden anyone from using the opportunity of hijacking a roadblock to sneak back to Rigate. They can't be that stupid, can they? Has something gone wrong?"

The scarred man scoffed and switched the torch with another hand.

"Black Wolf and Gray Rat have both reached the intermediate level of the Northern Divine Flow. Although Earth Scorpion's strength is a bit lacking, do you think they can just rob someone and kill them? Use your brain, okay? Are all your brains in your lower half just because you're tall?"

His voice lowered as he spoke, and he pointed his thumb into the darkness behind him.

"Otherwise, why would Boss Leopard look so grumpy? It's been months, and everyone's tired of robbing people. We've caught a few fat sheep, but we haven't seen a single chicken feather of the real target."

"Who doesn't know that kid with the thousand-dollar bounty is long gone from the Kingdom of Asla? It's just that Boss Spotted Leopard couldn't bring himself to boast to the other bandit leaders that our base had an impenetrable intelligence network, what a joke!"

The round-faced man quickly covered the other person's mouth.

"Keep your voice down, are you out of your mind?! Is this something you can just say whatever you want?!"

"Let go of him! Why not? I've been annoyed with that Leopard kid for ages. If it weren't for his Sword God and Water God techniques reaching the upper level, who would respect him? He got his position by selling his ass to Boss Night Lion, pshaw!"

"...Let me explain in detail how I sold my asshole."

Upon hearing this, the scarred man's face lit up with excitement.

"He's been selling his ass for ages. Every time he goes back to the capital, he sleeps at Night Lion's place for a night. When he comes back, he wiggles around, and that waist... um???"

He looked at the round-faced man's blank expression and suddenly realized that the voice that had spoken to him was unfamiliar. He turned his head in surprise.

Suddenly, a bespectacled young man with fair skin appeared beside him, leaning closer and spying on him.

The three of them looked at each other in silence.

When the scarred man stopped talking at the crucial moment, the kid got anxious.

"Wait? Why did you stop? Keep going! What happened to Boss Leopard's back?"

Scarface and Roundface suddenly realized what was happening, drew their blades with a whoosh, and cursed.

"Who are you, kid? New here? Don't you know the rules? Eavesdropping on the older guys' conversation??"

"You think you can even dream of getting your hands on Boss Leopard's waist?!"

The bespectacled boy was taken aback by their words. He blinked and said cautiously.

"I'm new here and don't know the rules very well. Someone sent me to call you back, saying that the guy named Leopard is angry."

The two were taken aback by what they heard and exchanged a glance.

"You little brat, if you dare tell anyone what we just said, you're dead, understand? I'm a mid-level swordsman, it wouldn't take me more than a few strikes to cut down someone as small as you. If I find out..."

The short man with glasses bowed respectfully upon hearing this.

"Okay, okay, guys~ It's getting late, let's head back!"

After saying that, he turned around and walked towards the spot where the scarred man had pointed.

When the scarred man saw that the other man had turned his back, his angry expression suddenly disappeared. He silently turned his head and exchanged a glance with the round-faced man beside him who was silently watching him. They exchanged a look, and then he stepped forward and put his arm around the other man's neck.

The round-faced man following behind placed his hand on the hilt of his sword at his waist and silently drew his blade.

The scarred man glanced at his accomplice behind him who was drawing his knife, tightening his grip on his arm as if he were very close to this new "little brother".

"Young man, you look unfamiliar. What's your name?"

"My name is Allen. Let's hurry up, it's still an hour's walk."

The scarred man's face darkened upon hearing this.

"An hour? It clearly only took half an hour to get here. Your name is Allen? I've never heard of you."

The scarred man's voice gradually softened, and his pupils suddenly widened.

"Eh!? Eh."

The scarred man tried his best to say Allen's name again, but the strength in his throat could not be sustained, and he was even unable to send out the breath that he could usually make his vocal cords vibrate easily.

The dark forest swayed before his eyes, and the small man named Allen beside him didn't even need to break free of his hand; he simply maintained his forward-stepping posture and flung his figure behind him.

The scarred man struggled to reach out and grab him, but missed. He instinctively reached for the knife at his waist, only to find that his usually proud draw-and-slash technique was completely ineffective. He couldn't even move his arm, let alone swing the blade.

At that moment, his vision took on its own initiative:

The boy with glasses spun around on the ground, the shadows of the tree trunks danced and leaped in the moonlight, and the leaves that were flying in the air "jumped" into view along with the tree trunks. The ground shifted and swayed, and the moonlight that should have been in the sky rushed into view. The moon pierced the night sky through the gaps in the trees, and a look of fear flashed across the face of his round-faced companion.

The grass stalks on the ground rustled. He touched his face, and warm liquid spilled in front of him, carrying a salty, fishy smell.

The scarred man's head rolled to the ground, dripping with blood. He stared blankly at his severed torso as he fell forward, his pupils turning gray.

he died.

Amidst the rain of blood, Allen turned around, his hand on his sword, thick blood dripping continuously from his swordsman's uniform onto the ground.

The round-faced man, holding the knife, stared at the scene, completely dumbfounded, his whole body trembling like a sieve.

"Eren! You're Eren! Water God Style!"

As he spoke, Allen strolled out as if taking a leisurely step.

The next instant, his figure vanished from the round-faced man's sight. The latter opened his mouth in astonishment, the word "superior" still stuck in his throat, when he heard a soft footstep behind him, and at the same time, Allen's voice came from behind him:

"The corpse is talking."

He was startled and instinctively wanted to turn around.

Then I experienced the feeling of "vision acting on its own".

Losing my sense of direction and balance, the moonlight swirled rapidly through the trees, leaving streaks of white light, with an unusual and beautiful quality.

Allen's figure flashed past in his peripheral vision, a smile still on his face.

"The Silent Katana... isn't he a high-ranking member of the Water God School? How could he..."

Before he could come up with a solution, his thoughts plunged into chaos, never to rise again.

With a thud, his head hit the ground, and Allen's footsteps faded into the distance, his low murmur carried on the wind.

"The fifth one."
