S-Class Judge: My ability is parasitism.
Chapter 13 Basement
"It's definitely not feasible to investigate rashly; we need to find someone to investigate the situation. But who should we ask?" Gao Shen stroked his chin, lost in thought.
"What's there to hesitate about? The business card is Xu Nuo's, so of course it's best to let Xu Nuo go. Maybe he'll even be happy to accept?" Ni Shihua covered her mouth and chuckled.
"Shihua, stop teasing me, don't ruin my image." Xu Nuo was also having a headache, having such a troublesome female colleague.
"Relax, relax! I know you're not that kind of person, just kidding, Brother Arno~" Ni Shihua replied in a soft, sweet voice.
"Captain, you make the arrangements. I'll listen to you." It was naturally most suitable for Xu Nuo to investigate this task, and Xu Nuo didn't mind.
"How are your injuries? I'm worried something might happen to you," Gao Shen said with some concern, feeling guilty for injuring Xu Nuo last time.
"No problem, my abilities have restored me," Xu Nuo affirmed.
"Alright, install a hidden camera and a miniature listening device on your body, and we'll be nearby to meet you."
The group drove to the pedestrian street, and Xu Nuo went to the bar alone while the others stayed in the car.
Before leaving, Pan Yuan put his hand on Xu Nuo's shoulder and instructed him:
"Brother, safety first, if things look bad, run!"
Xu Nuo patted the back of his hand:
"Don't worry, I'm not stupid, I know what I'm doing."
Xu Nuo pushed open the bar door, instantly severing the dim lighting inside from the cold night outside.
The air was filled with the pungent smell of alcohol and cigarettes.
The deep, languid jazz music, like an invisible veil, enveloped the scattered booths and whispering crowds.
He steadied himself, his mind replaying every detail he had observed the previous night—where they went, and in what posture.
He walked straight to an inconspicuous shadowy spot behind the entrance, where a burly, expressionless security guard stood.
Without exchanging glances, Xu Nuo took out the distinctive business card from his suit pocket and silently handed it over.
The security guard took it, examined it carefully, and after confirming it was correct, he looked up, scrutinized Xu Nuo for a moment, and just as he raised his hand, preparing to point in a certain direction deep inside the bar—
"Leave this guest to me."
A soft yet undeniably authoritative voice broke in.
Accompanied by a faint, sweet perfume scent, a figure swayed as it approached.
She was a bunny-eared girl, her fluffy white ears peeking out playfully from her long, wavy, wine-red hair, trembling gently with her steps.
She wore a classic black bunny girl outfit that fit her perfectly, with a deep V-neck that accentuated her stunning curves. Fishnet stockings encased her long legs, and every step she took was to the beat of jazz music. She was so sexy that she was almost flamboyant, creating a strange tension with the seemingly calm atmosphere of the bar.
Xu Nuo's gaze moved from her alluring figure upwards and finally settled on her face.
Her makeup was exquisite, with upturned eyeliner and fiery red lips. However, this face… Xu Nuo's pupils contracted almost imperceptibly.
"You were the proprietress that day." His voice was calm, without any apparent emotion, but his tone was certain.
The bunny girl paused almost imperceptibly in her flirtatious wink, a fleeting look of surprise crossing her beautifully drawn eyes before being masked by an even wider smile.
She covered her mouth and chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling. "Oh? Sir, you've mistaken me for someone else. You're probably referring to my sister. I'm the manager here." She leaned closer, her breath sweet as orchids. "I can't imitate my sister's aura."
Beneath her sweet smile, her mind raced: So this is the prey her sister has her eye on... Interesting.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere was completely different inside the command vehicle, parked a few blocks away disguised as an ordinary van.
Multiple high-definition screens surround the area, displaying Xu Nuo's first-person perspective, side and rear views captured by a miniature camera, and a heat map of the area surrounding the bar.
When the bunny girl gracefully appeared in the center of the screen, several suppressed gasps rang out simultaneously inside the car.
Hou Hao almost spat out the energy bar in his mouth. He looked at the close-up shot taken by the camera on Xu Nuo's chest:
"Wow! Not bad, Comrade Xu! You're quite popular. The onboarding benefits are pretty high-end, with a beautiful receptionist manager to greet you!"
He turned his head slyly and glanced at Ni Shihua, who was rapidly typing on the keyboard analyzing the audio. "Shihua, to be honest, look at this... this magnanimity, it's even better than yours..."
"Pah!" Ni Shihua didn't even raise her head, but her ears were slightly red. She kicked Hou Hao's chair leg with pinpoint accuracy. "You can't expect anything good to come out of a dog's mouth! Vulgar! Focus on the mission!"
Pan Yuan stroked his chin, staring at the back of Luna leading Xu Nuo through the crowd on the screen. Her figure looked even more alluring in the dim light.
He smacked his lips and sighed, half-jokingly:
"But to be honest, this bunny girl has a really good figure... If I had known I would get this kind of treatment, I should have gone in place of Xiao Xu. Tsk tsk, this mission was a huge loss."
The men in the car, including the captain who had been calmly staring at the main screen, exchanged glances and then let out a low, unspoken sound through their noses:
"Um!"
This indicated her deep agreement with the first half of Pan Yuan's statement. Ni Shihua rolled her eyes in annoyance and typed even harder on the keyboard.
The perspective returns with Xu Nuo.
Instead of heading towards the center of the bar or upstairs, the bunny girl manager led him around the bustling bar area to a relatively quiet, wide staircase leading to the second floor.
The side of the staircase was even dimmer, with some cleaning supplies and spare wine boxes piled up, like a cluttered corner.
The bunny girl stopped next to a wall panel that looked no different from the rest of the room. She pressed her finger on a spot in the embossed pattern, and with a slight "click," a thick wooden board that blended perfectly with the surrounding floor automatically flipped down to reveal an opening.
No dust was stirred up; instead, a carefully designed, softly lit LED strip extended down the steep steps, illuminating the path beneath one's feet.
The steps are made of cement, but they are polished smooth. The walls on both sides are painted dark gray, clean and tidy, which is completely different from the retro luxury of the bar above. It is full of a simple industrial feel and... a kind of quietness unique to private places.
Xu Nuo followed the bunny girl down the stairs. After about twenty steps, the view suddenly opened up before him. The underground level was a completely different world.
This is not the dark and messy basement you might imagine.
What comes into view is a straight, wide corridor with beige patterned wallpaper on the walls and a thick, dark blue carpet that absorbs all footsteps.
Warm yellow wall lamps are spaced out in an orderly fashion, illuminating each tightly closed, heavy door.
