Xiu Gou's Taming Record

Chapter 34 is a steamed bun?

It was past midnight, and the villa was very quiet.

Yu Heng was also fast asleep. He turned over and changed his position, wrapping the blanket around himself.

A short while later, he was awakened by a rapid ringing of his cell phone.

He opened his eyes, groggily reached for his phone, and squinted at the screen.

Was it Bai Xinran who called?

What kind of trouble is this girl causing in the middle of the night?

"What?" Yu Heng's tone was somewhat impatient. "Making a phone call so close by?"

On the other end of the phone was Bai Xinran's weak voice: "Boss... I think I have a fever, I feel so bad, I have no energy..."

The voice does sound off; it's a bit nasal.

Why do you have a fever?

Yu Heng raised an eyebrow: "Wait."

He hung up the phone, threw off the covers, and got out of bed.

Once I stepped out of the bedroom, I realized I was still naked. I grabbed a T-shirt and put it on, then put on a pair of shorts.

Then he quickly went downstairs without even putting on slippers.

When he got to Bai Xinran's room, he didn't knock. He just pushed the door open and came in, and casually pressed the light switch on the wall.

"Why did you just come in?" She frantically grabbed the blanket and covered herself. "Get out!"

Yu Heng glanced at her irritably: "Why do you want me to go out and call you? What time is it, why are you still worrying about this?"

He walked to the bedside and reached out to touch her forehead.

Damn, it's still hot!

Yu Heng frowned: "Tsk, this temperature is hot enough to fry an egg."

It's probably still a high fever.

It must be around 38 or 39 degrees Celsius.

Bai Xinran huddled under the covers, only half her head peeking out, her voice muffled: "I feel a little cold..."

"Then hurry up and get dressed, let's go to the hospital." Without saying a word, Yu Heng lifted the blanket and was about to pick her up.

"What are you doing!" Bai Xinran gripped the corner of the blanket tightly. "I'm not wearing any clothes!"

"Nonsense, what do you wear to bed?" Yu Heng yanked the person out of bed. "Hurry up!"

He pulled back the covers and glanced at it unconsciously.

This girl really does sleep naked!

And it was a steamed bun?

Yu Heng grabbed her pajamas from the side and haphazardly put them on her.

"I'll do it myself!" Bai Xinran snatched the pajamas and buttoned them with her back to him.

"Are you done yet?" he urged. "If you dawdle any longer, you'll get brain-damaged."

Bai Xinran muttered softly, "Turn around..."

"What are you spinning around for?" Yu Heng squinted. "I've already seen them all."

Bai Xinran's eyes widened: "When did you see that?!"

"The last time you took a shower," Yu Heng said with a smile, "and just now."

Actually, I only caught a quick glance last time, so I didn't get a very clear look.

I could see it clearly just now, both top and bottom.

It's quite white and big, but I don't know how it feels to the touch.

"You pervert!" Bai Xinran's hands trembled so much that she couldn't even button her clothes.

"Alright, alright, I'll do it." Yu Heng quickly buttoned up his shirt. "You're burning up like this and you're still trying to be tough."

He bent down and picked her up horizontally. Bai Xinran exclaimed in surprise and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Boss... I can walk by myself..."

"Where are you going?" Yu Heng picked her up and carried her outside. "Don't let her fall halfway and I'll have to carry her."

As he reached the door, he remembered something, turned back to get the down jacket for her, and put a coat on himself.

Yu Heng carried her out of the villa. A night breeze blew by, and Bai Xinran couldn't help but shiver.

"Cold?" Yu Heng looked down at her.

"Hmm..." Bai Xinran shrank back, "Boss, am I going to die...?"

"You won't die," Yu Heng scoffed. "It's just a common fever; an IV drip will do the trick."

"But it hurts so much..." Bai Xinran's voice trembled with tears, "My whole body aches..."

Looking at her pitiful appearance, Yu Heng thought, "This girl usually seems quite resilient, but when she's sick, she acts like a child."

His sickly appearance actually makes you want to bully him.

Yu Heng helped her into the car; it was lucky they could get a taxi so quickly at this hour.

Thankfully, the university town is bustling now.

On the way to the hospital, Bai Xinran leaned back in her seat, occasionally letting out a painful groan.

"Boss...would this count as a work injury?" she whispered to him. "If I get brain damage from the burns, would you still want me? Would I still be able to do live streams?"

Yu Heng glanced at her: "No, find someone smarter."

"You..." Bai Xinran was so angry she wanted to hit him, but she didn't have the strength. "You have no conscience..."

It's not a bad thing if someone gets brain damage from the fever; they're even easier to fool.

When I arrived at the hospital, I went to the emergency room.

Bai Xinran looked as wilted as a frostbitten eggplant. When the nurse gave her the injection, she gasped in pain.

"It hurts..." she looked at Yu Heng pitifully.

"Bear with it," Yu Heng said from the side, "Who told you to get sick?"

Despite saying that, he still reached out and let her hold his hand.

Her palms were hot and wet, and they hurt his hand when he gripped them.

"Be gentle," Yu Heng frowned, "Do you want me to make an appointment too?"

He was quite energetic now, letting her hold him, feeling her fingers digging into his flesh.

Bai Xinran loosened her grip slightly, but still held onto his hand tightly: "Boss, you're actually a pretty good person..."

"Now you know how to say nice things?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you just calling me a hooligan?"

"That's different..." Bai Xinran's voice grew softer and softer, and her eyelids began to droop.

And so I fell asleep.

The nurse came over, glanced at the IV drip, and said, "Your girlfriend has the flu. It's been going around a lot lately. It's nothing serious; an IV drip will do the trick."

"Okay, okay," Yu Heng replied.

He looked down at the sleeping Bai Xinran. Flu?

Did she catch it from her roommate?

Yu Heng sat by the bed for a while; the girl was quite quiet once she fell asleep.

"I really owe you..." Yu Heng muttered softly.

He glanced at the IV bottle; it was still more than half full.

With a nurse watching over him, Yu Heng yawned, feeling sleepy.

He adjusted his posture, pulled his coat tighter around himself, leaned his head back in the chair, and closed his eyes.

It was a little after 7 a.m. the next morning.

Yu Heng opened his eyes, raised his head, and heard a series of cracking sounds in his neck.

"Damn..." Yu Heng rubbed the back of his neck.

Looking up, Bai Xinran was still asleep, and her complexion was much better than last night.

He reached out and touched her forehead; the fever had subsided.

Just then, the nurse came by, and Yu Heng asked, "Is her fever gone down now?"

"Yes, the temperature has come down," the nurse nodded. "But I suggest observing for another half day, taking your temperature again in a bit, and having another IV drip this afternoon. If everything is fine, you can go home."

"Okay." Yu Heng nodded.

After the nurse left, he stretched his shoulders, took out his phone and glanced at it; it was 7:30.

There is an unread message.

Qin Lu said she would bring Qin Ya over for a trial broadcast at 3 pm and asked if it was convenient for him.

Yu Heng replied to Qin Lu with a "Okay".

Bai Xinran woke up right after replying to the message.

She opened her eyes groggily, blinked, and focused her gaze on Yu Heng.

"Boss..." His voice was still a little hoarse.

"Awake?" Yu Heng glanced at her. "How are you feeling?"

"Much better..." Bai Xinran tried to sit up, but he pressed her back down.

"Don't move."

Bai Xinran obediently lay down, her eyes darting around, looking at her surroundings and then at Yu Heng.

"Boss, you stayed with me all night?"

"Otherwise what?" Yu Heng said irritably, "Would I just leave you here all alone?"

Bai Xinran pursed her lips and whispered, "Thank you..."

"No need to thank me," Yu Heng stood up, stretching his numb legs. "The medical expenses will be deducted from your share."

"Huh?" Bai Xinran's eyes widened. "They're going to deduct money from my pay?"

"Nonsense," Yu Heng rolled her eyes at her, "It's not like I made you get sick."

Bai Xinran pouted and remained silent.

Seeing her aggrieved look, Yu Heng felt a little amused, but kept a straight face: "Alright, just kidding. The nurse said your fever has subsided, but suggested observing you for another half day. You can go home after another IV drip this afternoon."

"Oh..." Bai Xinran nodded.

Just then, her phone rang.

Yu Heng glanced at it; the screen displayed "Mom".

Bai Xinran answered the phone: "Hello, Mom..."

The voice on the other end of the phone was quite loud; Yu Heng could hear most of it.

"Xinran, your dad and I are almost at the station. We should be at your school around nine o'clock! Are you ready? Let's have lunch together!"

"Huh? So fast?" Bai Xinran was a little flustered. "Um... Mom, I..."

She glanced at Yu Heng, her eyes pleading for help.

Yu Heng raised an eyebrow and mouthed, "Tell the truth."

Bai Xinran hesitated for a moment before speaking, "Mom, I have a slight fever and I'm at the hospital..."

"What?! The hospital?!" The voice on the other end of the phone immediately rose eight octaves. "What happened?! How serious is it?! Which hospital?! Your dad and I are coming right now!"

"It's not serious, it's not serious!" Bai Xinran quickly said, "It's just a cold and fever, an IV drip will do the trick...at the Second Hospital..."

"Wait! We're coming right away!"

The phone hangs up.

Bai Xinran put down her phone and looked at Yu Heng with a helpless expression: "My parents are coming..."

Yu Heng thought for a moment and said, "Then I should be going too."

"You're leaving?" Bai Xinran was taken aback.

"Hmm," Yu Heng took out his phone and checked the time. "Our advisor will be bringing her daughter for a trial broadcast soon, so I need to go back and prepare."

Bai Xinran then remembered that Yu Heng had mentioned this yesterday.

She said "Oh," and her eyes darted around for a moment: "Then you should go back quickly, don't delay your business."

Looking at her like this, Yu Heng suddenly wanted to tease her: "What's wrong? You don't want me to leave?"

"Who wouldn't want to leave!" Bai Xinran retorted immediately. "I'm just worried that my parents might see you here, and then I won't be able to explain myself!"

"That's true," Yu Heng nodded. "If your parents saw me here, they'd probably think I was bullying their daughter."

He paused, then said, "So what are you going to tell your parents later? Who brought you here last night?"

Let's not tell the truth. If we say she's living with someone else outside, it could cause a lot of trouble.

"I told you it was a gift from a classmate?" Bai Xinran asked tentatively.

"Fine," Yu Heng said, unconcerned. "Make up whatever you want, just don't drag me into it."

He stood up and put on his coat: "I'll be going now. Take care of yourself. If you're free this afternoon, go home and rest. Don't broadcast today."

"Okay..." Bai Xinran replied, watching him walk towards the door, then suddenly called out to him, "Boss!"

Yu Heng turned around: "What?"

"Um..." Bai Xinran hesitated for a moment, "Thank you..."

Yu Heng waved his hand, said nothing, and turned to leave.
