Chapter 114 Using Cards as Bait
The next morning, the mule arrived at Club 78.
Xiao Bai was still tidying up the tables at the front desk when he saw Mule push open the door and stride in.
"We don't need to clock in during the day at our club, what are you doing here so early?" Xiao Bai joked.
Mule casually closed the door, walked to the front desk, and without any ceremony, sat down on the high stool in front of the desk.
The stool legs scraped against the ground, making a short, sharp sound.
"Sister Bai."
Xiao Bai was making instant coffee when he saw that Mule had arrived so early, so he placed the cup he had just made in front of Mule.
"Oh, thank you." Mule took it with both hands and ran upstairs, feeling a bit thirsty.
He took a small sip, then stuck out his tongue, his features contorted in pain. "What is this?! It's so bitter?!"
"Americano, extra strong!" Xiaobai held the cup he had made for himself, took a small sip, and immediately felt refreshed.
Mule grinned and forced a bitter smile. "Sister Bai, I was taken to Tide Prison yesterday."
"You told me, I know," she replied while stirring her coffee.
"We successfully evacuated, and we really didn't run into the warden!" Mule said excitedly.
"Us?" Xiaobai seized on the key phrase, "Who did you come out with?"
The mule slapped his forehead; he had intended to leave it as a mystery, but he had let it slip.
"I teamed up with another individual named Wang Kuo inside the prison," Mule said directly, cutting to the chase. "At the evacuation point, we ran into Boss Han."
Xiaobai stopped what she was doing, put down the cup, looked at the mule, and raised her eyebrows slightly.
"Boss Han? You mean the Boss Han I asked you to follow last time?"
"Who else could it be?" said the mule. "He was wearing an autistic helmet, so I didn't recognize him at first."
"After we evacuated, outside the portal, he lifted his mask and I realized that the other person was Boss Han."
Xiao Bai was silent for a moment, then asked, "Did he recognize you?"
"Of course not. You asked me to follow him, and my movements were not exposed. He was the first person to see me in prison."
"And he also saved my life," Mule added. "Even without the warden, the guards' firepower was still formidable. While we were waiting to evacuate, the guards had a rocket soldier blow up the evacuation point."
"At that time, Boss Han pulled me away from the blast radius, which saved my life and allowed me to evacuate successfully."
"Is that so...?" Xiaobai murmured thoughtfully.
"There's one more thing," said the mule.
Xiao Bai looked up at him again.
"This time we searched the warden's office. I don't think anyone else has searched it before. There's a large security guard and a small one inside. The supplies are quite plentiful."
Mule reported these details to Xiaobai one by one.
"Many things have changed in Tide Prison."
"What do you mean?"
"Based on previous live broadcast footage, many rooms in the prison area were previously open or had ordinary locks, allowing people to enter and exit freely."
"When we went there this time, we found that many rooms had been equipped with electronic access control systems," Mule said. "Many of them were metal doors with a card reader on them, and it seemed that only authorized cards could be used to enter."
Xiao Bai frowned. "Electronic access control? How can such a thing exist?"
"This is the first time we've discovered that rooms in dangerous areas require access cards to enter."
The mule looked proud, even a little arrogant, as if it were waiting to be praised.
Xiao Bai leaned forward slightly, looking at the mule, and couldn't help but laugh, "Well done, this intelligence is something we've never had before."
"Hehe! There's something even more amazing!"
Mule took something out of his pocket and placed it on the bar. "This is an access card."
Xiao Bai picked up the card and examined it carefully. The card read "Level 1 Prison Access Card".
Mule explained from the side, "The item was found by a wandering scholar named Wang Kuo. I can't be sure if other wandering scholars have picked it up, but I guess it must be very rare."
Xiao Bai put the card down and looked at the mule: "I've never seen this thing in the player world before."
"This isn't a red item," Mule said, "but it's definitely very valuable, and more importantly, it has research value and information gaps."
Xiaobai nodded; she understood all of this. "How did something so precious end up with you? Did you steal it?"
"What are you saying? What kind of talk is this?" Mule said indignantly. "Wang Kuo is a freelancer, isn't he? He doesn't have a good way to sell this thing. Putting such a rare item on the black market will only lead to a bad end."
"Wang Kuo wants to give this card to our club," Mule said. "He wants to join our club."
Xiao Bai stared at the card in silence for a moment.
Are you familiar with him?
"I just met him in prison yesterday. Although he's a newbie, he seems like a decent person," Mule then recounted his experience to Xiaobai in detail.
After listening, Xiao Bai asked, "There's no warden, yet someone is still lost?"
"Yeah, they were probably blown out of the extraction point by that RPG."
Little White nodded and pushed the card back to the mule.
"Here's the card, bring the person in so I can meet him," Xiaobai said. "If everything's alright, let him in."
The mule put the card away, nodded, and said, "Okay, no problem."
"Do you have any way to get Han Che here too?"
"Call Boss Han over? You want him to join the club too?" Mule asked.
"Yes, I tried before, and he didn't directly reject me, but he didn't seem very interested either."
"Sister Bai, I've never understood before," Mule said seriously, his grin fading, "He provides our club with so many weapons and accessories. Why would he specifically ask me to follow him?"
Xiao Bai paused for a moment, "He's a bit too mysterious. Providing so many weapons and accessories, he must be a very powerful player, but I've never heard of him before."
"After hearing your description of him, I am even more certain that he must be very strong. Moreover, the fact that he chose to save you even though he didn't know you makes him someone we should try to win over."
"Adding to the fact that the situation at Dam Zero has become increasingly tense recently, our club is starting to run out of manpower."
"Sister Bai, would you like to talk to him again?"
Xiao Bai nodded.
"There are still many mysteries surrounding him, but if we can get him to cooperate with us, it will definitely be beneficial to the club's future."
"He showed no interest last time, what reason are you planning to use this time?"
Xiao Bai pointed to the card in the mule's pocket.
"Use this one."
The mule paused for a moment, then immediately realized what was happening and understood.
"You mean, use the information from this card to lure him over?"
"It's not about getting involved, it's about discussing business," Xiaobai said.
